Hidden Homestead {W} Enchantment Whenever a land you control would be put into a graveyard from play, instead sacrifice Hidden Homestead. If you do, draw a card. *** One of the smaller themes I've noticed in white is a tendency to protect lands (sometimes along with something else.) See [card]Sacred Ground[/card], [card]Sheltering Prayers[/card], and [card]Spiritual Asylum[/card]. Rather than protect all your lands, however, I thought it would be interesting to have a card that protects just one land, but does it better than any of the above options. This doesn't care how the land dies. [card]Stone Rain[/card], [card]Misguided Rage[/card], combat damage to a manland, or to pay the price of [card]Raze[/card], this card will save the land from the graveyard -- and it will replace itself, in the process. I'm not sure whether the current wording protects just one land from destruction by Armageddon, or all of your lands. Obviously, I just want it to protect one land, so if the wording needs to be changed, so be it.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Current Wording:
Hidden Homestead {1}{W} Enchantment
When Hidden Homestead comes into play, draw a card. If a land you control would be put into a graveyard from play, instead sacrifice Hidden Homestead.

I think the problem with this is that it becomes so much worse than Sacred Ground when LD actually comes up, and it's not any better the rest of the time. If it worked the reverse way, there'd be a reason to play it over Sacred Ground; Hidden Homestead {W} Enchantment When Hidden Homestead comes into play, draw a card. Whenever a land you control would be put into a graveyard from play, you may instead sacrifice Hidden Homestead. Would be a fair and decent card.

Whenever a land you control would be put into a graveyard from play, instead sacrifice Hidden Homestead. If you do, draw a card. Wording is not appropriate: you can't use a triggered ability with "would be put into a graveyard from play"; instead you can write: "If a land you control..." this way it will be a replacement effet and work

Do you also intend for this to be abusable with sacrifice effects such as Wasteland and Squandered Resources? How about your own Armageddon?
If not, I think Skyshroud Blessing does this better, even though both perform slightly different functions. The ability to 'cycle' such a limited card is big.

Yes, I intend for this to be abusable with sacrifice effects or destruction due to effects you control.

Well I knew you would slip-up on white eventually. I'm not saying this is a bad card, it's just narrow. It's still interesting, but nothing that makes me go "WOW!"

Just remember that I am not always trying to wow people. I like exploring the design space and sometimes the card is a little bit mundane. This still represents a slightly new perspective on an old idea -- and I think it's an improvement over the state of the art. Anyhow, note that I very specifically worded it to protect you from your own destructive effects because I want it to do more than just be an anti-land-destruction card. So, no, this card isn't eye-popping, but I'd hardly call it a failure. If you want to see the sort of things I produce when I've failed, look at Spike of Insight

I should've changed "I knew you would slip-up eventually." to "You can't win 'em all." or something like that. As for more elaboration on the card. It obviously has uses in Vintage/Legacy/maybe extended, but it seems like this block lacks sacrifice of lands meaning our "Standard"/Block/Limited will make this a dead card. BTW, what would standard be with this set...9th/ChK Block/ our "Block"? And as for you question of this card with it's interaction with armageddon, I'm pretty sure it would only replace one land because it must be sacrificed to finish the trigger and you obviously can't do that with it being sacrificed to the first land to die to armageddon.

I wouldn't be opposed to going with Brownie's idea -- of making this cantrip when it comes into play, rather than when its effect is used. What do other people think?

I think that I like enchantments that draw a card when they come into play.

I think that would make it a quite decent option for Enchantress.

This now cantrips instead of drawing a card when the ability is used. That is probably a good thing since I'm not absolutely whether it was all right to include a card-draw with a replacement effect. I'm pretty sure this is good to go now. 24 Hour Clock.
