There have been some people asking me if, because portal is legal for Day 2 only(despite it not becoming DCI legal until Oct 20) if we would also have Ravnica in the day 2 tourney.

It is my opinion that, since we are using day 2 to promo the post-0ct 20 format, we minds as well allow Ravnica.

If anyone has any strong reasons why this should not be, please reply.

So in summation:
Day 1: NO portal or Ravnica
Day 2: Portal and Ravnica both legal

Sorry for the double post but this is of a different topic than my last post:

Just wanted to mention to everbody about the Type 4 tourney at about 11:00 pm on Day 1.

This is the first ever Type 4 Championship.  It is a meager $1 (or some card off Crazy Carl's Type 4 Need List) to enter and the prize is AN ENTIRE FREAKIN TYPE 4 STACK.

Here are the house rules we will use as of now.  PM me any suggestions.

Type 4 House Rules

1.) NO Land of any kind in play.  In other words, Solkanar the Swamp King is blockable.

2.) Any spell with any kind of alternate casting cost can be played without it counting as your spell per turn, and without having to pay the ACC.  True, this makes some cards like FOW even better, but at the same time it allows us to play with Foil and Submerge.  This rule includes Bringers, Avatars, Fist of Suns, Spelljack, and Grinning Totem among others.  Morphs, however, count as your spell per turn.

3.) Unglued and Unhinged are legal. (Don’t worry, I will do the best judging job I can.

4.) Gotcha cards from Unhinged may only be played three times and only Gotchaed two times.

5.) Starting life total is 20.

6.) Starting hand size is 5.

7.) There is no maximum hand size.

8.) Defensive abilities win in battles of infinity vs. infinity.  If there is no clearly defined defensive ability, whoever activated the ability (or “initiated the fightâ€?)first loses.

9.) Players may split an attack phase among any number of players.

10.) When a player is eliminated all effects of that player cease to be and cards stolen from that player are returned.

11.) With the exception of the rules above, cards are played as they read.(no sharpie jobs take precedent.)

Wow, that Type 4 tournament sounds awesome. How will that tournament work in terms of structure, who provides the stack(s) to be used, etc.? I'm really curious and would probably be very interested in playing...

Depending on the number of people we will likely have tables of 6, with the winners of each table playing at the final table.

The stacks will basically be those brought by people to play with.  Between mine and Crazy Carl's Donation, we will have at least 2 right there. I'm sure at a type 1 toruney of Waterbury's magnitude we can find a few people with some.

DAY 2
September 94 Tournament for a TBD Prize from that same era
PRIZE INCREASES AS ATTENDANCE DOES
Registration 3:00-4:00 PM
$10 Entry Fee
September 94 Tournament
The rules are simple: Build a deck with only cards from Dark, Legends, Revised, ABU, Antiquities, or Arabian Nights.
Up to 25 proxies may be used.
You can use more current versions of the cards, as long as they were from those sets.
Although, we will still be using current rules(the stack, comabt damage, etc.) since to revert to pre 5the edition rules would be too confusing, we will use the B&R list from Sept. 1994.

Of interests that they are not restricted in this time frame:
Balance, Black Vise, Fastbond, Fork, Mana Vault, Strip Mine

Mana Crypt?  I think it's the right, ahem, 'vintage'.

What happened to the other thread where we went over this? Crypt was early '95. Fortunately.

A) I BEG for a restriction on Quanar.

B) I BEG for the whole "land" thing, otherwise you can't play Horobi's Whisper Sad

As for stacks I have two, mine and the donation one.  As for cards to donate to me... I have very little Ravnica stuff (Things could also go into the donation stack), so foil Ravnica cards would be the hotness.

Yes, I don't want to start banning certain cards (Cough * Quanar * Cough)

However, I would encourage anyone whose stacked ends up being used to remove any overly broken cards before using the stack (Cough * Quanar * Cough).

There is really only 1 degenerate card  that I could think of though.  Hmm...what is it?

As for Horobi's whisper...just play any other creature kill spell.  Annihalate is the hotness.

EDIT TO AVOID A DOUBLE POST

Not like anyone will notice, but I actually need to change the last place prizes form 3 Foreign Tormet Boosters to "A playset of Kamigawa Block and a Core Set booster, since I ran out of Foreign Stuff

Also...Bye List Updated.

Eeeeh, screw the double post...It's my thread and this one is worth it.

There will be prizes based on attendance for the team rivalry challenge, but also...

I just decided that we need to have a trophy for something like this.  Not just any trophy...but a trophy that represents 3 months of bragging rights.  The trophy, unfortunately, will not be able to be awarded to the winners on the day of Waterbury(since I want to engrave the winner's names), but will be given to the winning team shortly after.

That team can then, and is encouraged to, show off the trophy at any event they go to in the 3 months or so leading up to the next Waterbury.  At the following Waterbury, they can carry it around with a smug look, until either they are dethroned, or they defend their title. (after which they can still carry their trophy, but with less effect.)

One week til Waterbury...let's hear some trash talking.

Seeing how Alex and Roche basically went nowhere today I don't think the Goats will be mouthing off too much...

However, in order for us to put any kind of show up next week, I might have to make Ultima put in some serious testing time.

Team Evil Deed do promise to beat anyone in a full on beer draft.
