Randy Buehler thinks otherwise, and with the influx of pro players in R&D over the years since Invasion, I think the only thing stopping them being reprinted was the Reserve List (particularly given what Randy said). Since that also prevents functional reprints, they had to come up with something strictly and clearly inferior, but not by much.
That's not the only thing stopping them. Read Randy's quote more carefully - the reserved list is what kept him form suggesting reprints, not from actual reprints. It's by no means certain that without the List they'd be in ravnica.

They could always reprint something superior, say tri-lands   Smile

Here's a hint: Land - Mountain Swamp Island is less likely than Mana Drain to see print.

Its just a hopeful thought.  Though it wouldn't have as great an affect on T1 as say reprinting drain with a U cast cost.

In fact, if it wasn't for the Reserved List, I'd be arguing for us to reprint the original dual lands.

I guess it depends on we take arguing for it to mean exactly. I can't imagine him arguing for something if he felt it was too strong for standard or extended, contrary to what the post I was replying to said, which was more what I was trying to get across. As a matter of opinion, I also think they'd have been reprinted otherwise, but that was just something to add while we were on the topic.

I could imagine tri-lands with one or more downsides, perhaps CIPT and 1 damage for coloured mana. Or cannot be played if opponent controls at least one of the two enemy-coloured basic lands. They already did tri-lands with Gating.

Right right, but my point was that we only know that Randy is convinced, and others in Wizards would have to agree.
