Rippling Faultline
{3}{R}
Sorcery

Destroy target land.

Cascade -- {R}, Sacrifice a land.

***

Hoho! Who has balls of brass, ask I? I have created a cascade card that destroys lands! Okay, so it's more of a Thoughts of Ruin than a Stone Rain with Cascade. Nonetheless, I think it's a logically basic extension of the Cascade principle. I'm pretty sure that this is costed correctly. For one land, it's as good as Lay Waste. For two lands, it's interestingly comparable to Rain of Salt. (one less mana, but with a land sacrifice.) For three or more lands, you get into some really sophisticated strategic decision-making.

***

Current Wording:

Rippling Faultline
{3}{R}
Sorcery

Destroy target land.

Cascade -- {R}, Sacrifice a land.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

This is very interesting... On the one hand, it's better than Tectonic Break in that you get to choose which lands get killed, but on the other hand, it does cost more to get it started (but doesn't require the land sacrifice on the first hit). Taking all that into consideration, it looks about right (and is conveniently uncounterable...).

This is...neat. Could not be common though, for Limited purposes.

Definitely not – I'd put this at rare, same as Tectonic Break and other mass landkill cards.

I would risk putting this at uncommon, I think. If there were no mana payment in the cascade cost, then it would definitely be rare. As it is (assuming land as one's only mana source), you need six lands of your own to destroy just three lands of your opponent and you lose two of your own in the process. I'd say it's very comparable to Rain of Salt, which is properly in the uncommon slot.

This is more like Tectonic Break than Rain of Salt, but I have no problem with the card itself, just the rarity. Of course, if there's another version coming that has some sort of free Cascade cost, then making this uncommon to have a common/uncommon/rare cycle across the block would be reasonable.

Well the rarity would really be decided when a set is actually assembled. Certain cards can get their power tweaked even after being completed. The idea behind even discussing rarity is just to let the card's creator have a heads-up - if Ephraim intended for this to be common, he'd have to tone it down, etc.
