@ Mike Lydon...I'm very sorry to hear about your family situation Mike.  I hope all turns out ok.

@ Dana...Collectors edition and International Edition are not legal proxies.

Oh come on, these are the best proxies around.  Except they aren't proxies, being genuine magic cards.

Really sucks having proxies that aren't immediately recognisable as the card.  The oinly way you can tell them apart is by handling the deck, and that's very easy to catch if someone's really intending to cheat.

The hotel lobby has free internet! I'll try to find the time to make periodic updates on how the tournament is going.

yea, I just noticed that, is that new?

BTW, I'd like to take a moment and say that I have been extremal pleased with the service at the Hotel. I know that it's their job and all, but everything from getting me a cot in the room free of charge, to putting up with me constantly getting my stuff in and out of storage behind the desk, and putting up with stupid questions at 2 AM in the morning, puts a nice cap to a really fun weekend.

I did a lot of traveling in the Caribbean this winter break, and it was no where near as pleasant. If you aren't staying over this time, I really do recommend you try it out next time.

See you all there!

No, it was there for sure for October's event.

I just can't see my wife buying this "Waterbury is just as pleasant as the Caribbean" statement.  Then again, she had fun and took home the highest placed female prize with her 4-4 record with Goblins (although she set off 3-0).   As she said:

Quote from: harriet
Highlight of one game: My opponent, playing some kind of combo, is at 8 life and decides to tap out at the end of my turn to play Skeletal Scrying for 2. Very surprised when I respond with Lightning Bolt (3 damage) and Fireblast (4 damage), leaving his own Skeletal Scrying to kill him. Afterwards he complains to Simon: "Who the hell plays 8 maindeck burn spells in goblins?"

I had a great weekend, we defended our Team trivia title with a perfect record on identifying obscure artwork, and a dismal performance at differentiating Odyssey and Onslaught...

After dropping from main event at 3-3, we ran 6 8-man side events, so that's effectively 48 more players in events on day 1.  Congrats to Erik and Marc who seemed to make money on each one they entered, and to Tom NG who beat his way through the next day's top finishers.

I bet nobody had Josh down for winning, nor for a Tog-GAT final.  Oh so 2003.  And Ultima wasn't there to see it.

I'm pretty sure he was just talking about the hotel itself, and not trying to compare Waterbury (the town) to the Caribbean.
