Hey guys,

So we are planning on putting together some T1 events in Northern California here over the next several months...however we are new to doing this and thus need some small amounts of help.

One problem that has popped up is getting Swiss reporting software out to a remote (read: not a card shop) location. Getting a computer there is not the problem, but getting software is something I wanted imput from you guys on...

Most stores use the DCI's program to set up and run the events (as far as ive seen anyways) and this is fine and dandy if you are a DCI TO, however as I am only a regular ol player I cant/dont want to run any sanctioned T2 or other FNM style events (which I need to set up in order to get the software from what I have read)

SO now that ive spent a lot of time explaining the situation, all I need to know is whether there is a decent replacement for this software, or if there is some other way to get the software from outside of the DCI? heh (pardon me if this is illegal...ill take PMs as well, heh)

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated of course...

Thanks

-Scott

Google says you can download DCI reporter here:

Well thank you Jacob...

however...

that link is just a link to the DCI download and it requires your DCI number as well (and I am going to assume that you need TO access, I dont want to get in trouble from the DCI since I DO like playing in sanctioned events from time to time)

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong though...I would just like to do it right.

mtgontario did, at one time, have it up for download. Wizards shat on them, and they now link to the DCI page.

Unfortunatly, now you have to be a TO to get a copy. Allthough I am not aware of any 'rule' that disallows the use of DCI reporter as tournament software.
Its probably in the EULA if it is not allowed, and I'm not digging thru it to find out Smile

My suggestion is to just find a TO, ask him for a copy of the install EXE, and use it to run your Type 1's.

Oh whoops. I remembered them having it--I hadn't noticed that they'd switched to a link.

It is okay jacob, thank you anyways...

Thanks to Machinus, I will try that link when I get the correct computer linked up to it, heh...if not I guess I can try a local shop and ask for a copy...

@ Sagath

I was told by a shop once that they werent allowed to use the reporter for non-sanctioned events (they do anyways obv, heh...) whether the shop was accurate or not I dont know...but I would like to avoid any trouble with the DCI if at all possible.

You can totally use Dci reporter for non sanctioned stuff.

Look at SCG P9's,
and any small shop that runs sanctioned stuff, will sometimes not have enough people for an event but will still run it unsanctioned through the reporter. this happens all the time.

yeh, I loaded the program at my work (heh, and erased some .dll file so now the internet doesnt work on that computer...hot!)

it definatly has a slot for unsanctioned events...the guy must just have been guessing at things (thats what I get for listening to shop owners, lol)
