FFY, it looks like a while now you have been running Rolling Earthquake over Pyroclasm in the side.  How has this worked out for you?  When was the quake a better card?  I can see it ending games just by having more life when you cast it.  Is that the reason it has replaced Pyroclasm, or is it for what you have been facing that give you fits?  And, since you have put the quake in there do you still Wish for the Tendrils very often?

I know this idea has been tossed around quite a lot regarding Slaver, but would the inclusion of Cunning Wish be a new way to look at Slaver?  I think that the pros and cons are comparable to that of B. Wish.  You can wish for instant versions of the sorcerys played in Slaver's side.  Many could be as much or more viable.  I also think that there would be much more instants that could work their way into the side as wish targets as well as standard sideboard for games 2 and 3.  There are two cards that are irreplacable, they would be Earthquake/Pyroclasm and of course the Tendrils.  I think the fact that it is blue and an instant and unrestricted despite costing 1 make it a stronger card.  Does the fact that you can wish for sorcerys make B. Wish a better card?  Thoughts?

Just because Rich and I say something is good and have it in our boards doesn't mean it is right.  If you want to have a card in your board, because you want to be able to board it, go for it.

Well yes, I obviously agree with you.  The only reason I posed the question is because I couldn't tell how you did in the event.

I will say though that I'm impressed at the diversity of your sideboard and must congratulate you on how it did for you.

Was not directed at you; you just so happened to be the person that posted right before me.  Was directed at the multiple emails I get a week asking what cards people should play in the sideboard.

Burning Wish V. Cunning Wish.  Both are fine cards.  I just think that burning wish is a much more powerful card in genearl.  It gets better more impacting game winning spells.  Not to mention it gets Will.

FFY:  Do you like the V. Heretic over the rack and ruin?  Don't you think waiting a turn for the heretic to come online and investing 2 mana during your turn is not as good as casting rack and ruin on their EOT step would be a better play?

The adage about walking down the hill and f%#!ing them all fits with the heretic.  I'm just curious why the man approach? He is most likely to shine against stax, but with monkey and welder already handling this decently why bring him in?.  Albeit fish has CotV and nullrod, but with the monkey again handling CotV and your version of CS having duplicant makes this seem not horrid if nullrod resolves.  when the time comes to slave them you have access to echoing truth or monkey can make it go away for 5 mana which might be difficult but not uncommon to achieve.

Now with you running gelectrode, which i can see running this over fire/ice, I don't see investing in 2 different men against fish.  Just my opinion and wanted to hear your thoughts on why you're making this call.

Quick question.  You said you wanted a creature that could destroy the creatures in U/W fish.  Which creatures specifically are giving you trouble?  There are lots of U/W fish builds around, and I wasn't sure what you mainly had to worry about.

The card I've always found strong against them is Spinal Villain

2R

T:  Kill a blue creature

1/2

Its not affected by REB, and it kills most of their creatures, however, all of the fish I would have to play is OFM.  Their creature base is:

Ninjas
Mages
Serendib (2x for kill)
Cloud of Faeries

ETC

all of their creatures are blue, so it was great.  If you are in a similar situation, because you play red and its the same cost, I would definitely recommend trying it out.  If the creatures in question are the likes of True Believer, Icatian Javelineers etc. then I just wasted your time with all that reading

Whilst Spinal Villain looks cute it's inferior to Gelectrode.

Gelectrode pitches to Force and can be used to ping an opponent. Gelectrode also hits Dark Confidant, Gorilla Shaman, Withered Wretch and random decks like Elves, Affinity, Goblins etc.

I played something very close to your list this past weekend and was pretty impressed. I removed burning wish (not a fan of wish sideboards) for jesters cap and added a 4th welder (forget what I took out).

The deck ran pretty smoothly.  The one card I was consistently siding out, though, was CoTW. It just wasn't needed.  I think there 2 game 1's where I had a chance at the crucible/strip lock, but by the time I could have it online, my opponent already had a solid mana base and I needed to tinker/tutor for something to 'win now.'

Maybe its a local meta-thing, but I'll be moving the crucible to sideboard and finding something else to put in that slot.

What I found to be so great about Crucible is that it plays a couple of roles.  It isn't really a bomb unless you happen to get the Strip Mine online quickly.  The first reason I like the Crucible is that it makes smoothing that mana base amazing.  Nothing rocks like fetching every single turn thinning your deck and ensuring you play a land every single turn for the rest of the game.  So, everytime after playing CoW you draw a non land card its like drawing an extra card that turn.  I love the CoW so much that I added a Seat of the Synod to the decklist because of the cute tricks you can play with it and Welder.  The second reason I find CoW helpfull is that it is much quicker than any other of the "big" artifacts in Slaver.  It doesn't nead to be Tinkered in or Welded in the make an impact on the game like Titan/Collossus, MS, Trike or whaterver else you are running.  It comes down quickly and doesn't require an activation.

I'm looking for some thoughts on the oath matchup.  Typically, I've been relying on Duplicant for taking care of creatures that make it into play, but SSS looks like it will make this plan alot harder to pull off (or impossible).

Is there a better option?  I like the utility of dups in multiple matchups and hate the idea of running something like bombardment just for anti-oath.

Ensnaring Bridge and Platinum Angle both seem like good options.
