Oh, right, let me mention that. Ok, here's how it works:
Ok, there's no way in the database to specific a specific tournament by name. There's like "PTQ Feeding ____", "SCG Power 9," "Waterbury," "Grand Prix Trial," etc. The only dates are those that end weeks: 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, etc. If I put them on 3/19, when you searched for Vintage decks that end on the 19th, you'd see:
Rich Shay - Control Slaver 1st Place Brian Fisher - Control Slaver 1st Place Jeff Anand - Burning Slaver 2nd Place Ben Kowal ...
i.e., you couldn't tell what was from what day. I decided that was completely useless to anyone, as I think people want to see the ordered lists. Since I couldn't specify one tournament on the 18th and one on the 19th, I had to do the 19th and 26th.

hmm....you'd think with a database you could enter the ACTUAL date - so it would allow for 3/18 and 3/19.....but what do I know, these computer things are tricky and should be watched at all times..

All those really low numbers are from dropping in early rounds: if you go 1-2 drop, a bunch of people end up with more points than you, even if your final record would have been better than theirs if you'd stayed in--witness Buehler going 0-2 in the first two rounds day 1, then going 6-0 to make it to 14th place, whereas Kowal dropped by round 3, and ended up 122nd.

This got me confused: Sucide Black A Vintage deck, by Jacob Orlove 45th place at a StarCityGames Power 9 Tournament tournament in Richmond, Virginia, United States on 2006-03-26
Jacob, could you explain why you chose to run Suicide Black? Is it really better then Lion Fish? Would you change anything in the deck afterwards?

Oh wow, I got 45th even after dropping in round 5?
Anyway, I don't really want to sing the deck's praises, because I did lose two straight rounds to combo, but there were aspects of the deck that I really liked. I wouldn't play it again in this metagame, but perhaps you'll see a better version from meandeck in the future (that build of the deck was actually designed by kirdape3, not me).

I wrote an article breaking down the results and providing some analysis on these results and the results from Day 1 and Waterbury. I've been assured it'll be up by the end of the week.
Thanks for typing up all the decklists JD, I can see that it was no easy task, just counting them was hard enough.

Looking at the whole breakdown of deck switching is actually quite interesting: Made T8 both days, same deck: Becker, Evenpence only played one day, made T8 that day: Anand, Demars, Jones. Made T8 day 1, lost with same deck day 2: Shay, Timoney (came very close), Endress Made T8 day 2 after losing with the deck day 1: Kowal Made T8 day 2 after losing day 1, switching decks: Fisher, Farias, Gaudard Made T8 both days, switched: Smmenen
Now, this sample size is far too small to draw any real conclusions from, but switching decks for day 2 seems to be a good idea overall, especially if you did not make T8 day 1. However, those players mostly switched into decks that did make T8 day 1. The analysis gets confounded because all the players who T8'd and played only one day were playing slaver, as were half of the players who switched, so of the 6 slaver players who T8'd, only Shay actually played it both days.

It be interesting to examine why the people who switched did so as well.
I'll answer for Jason: he had been playing Uba Stax for some time before Rich, ond, and had been doing well with it at the tournaments we went to -- they were small, but he didn't fail to make T4 at them (they were Cleveland and Dayton, if you were wondering). In fact, he met my 2.5c Long build in the T4 both times and lost (obviously, since that deck was mostly tailor made to stomp Stax). Day 1, he had some troubles, but really doesn't have the cards to play much else (he owns 4 Bazaars, but no Moxes or anything). I was planning on playing Roland's deck day 2, but I had been talked into playing 5c Long day 2, so my Workshops were available. I felt that 5c Stax would be a superior deck to play over Uba Stax, as 5c would have a much better match vs. Slaver (still hard, but not a slaughter), IT, and Gifts. I therefore convinced Jason to run Roland's deck after handing him all the cards he needed to do so. I gave him a 10 minute primer on the differences between 5c and Uba Stax about 12 minutes before the player meeting, and combined with his high Magical skills (1800+ rating) -- another thing I thought 5c Stax would reward better, it was enough to carry him to victory.

Yeah OBV Smennen made T8 day two; was there ever any doubt? There weren't even any VAG players there to stop him, it must have been an fing cakewalk.

It be interesting to examine why the people who switched did so as well. Here's my story: I start the trip not really sure what I want to play, figuring I would have plenty of time to talk it over and decide. After a few delays, we get to the hotel fairly late, and stay up even later discussing card slots for Rich's Slaver and BrassMan's Gifts. By that time, I was pretty tired, and since I had access to Brassman's 4x Bazaar and 4x Workshop, I quickly threw together UbaStax and called it a night. Day One went pretty terribly for me. I wasn't really experienced with the deck, and I didn't have enough cards that actually accomplished the goal of bringing my opponent's life total to zero. I won round one in turns, unintentional drew round 2, and scooped to my round 3 opponent after we were going to unintentionally draw again. I really didn't want to do that two days in a row. Day Two t00l, whom I drove down and roomed with, decided he didn't want to play and had the ShaySlaver list he played Day One. I had never played Drains at a tournament, because I didn't own them and relied on BrassMan's collection (since he always plays Drains, I usually run Bazaar of Workshop decks). This seemed liked a fine opportunity to try them out, so I ran with it.
