Author Topic: Columbus! Mox Tournament - UNLIMITED PROXY 5/21  (Read 9493 times)

« on: April 30, 2006, 01:24:38 pm »

Sunday May 21st

If we get 25 players or more, a Mox Pearl is the prize (i have no doubt that we will)

Below that we get a Timetwister for the prize.

The Soldiery

4256 N. High St.

Columbus, Ohio 43214

Tel: 614-267-1957   Fax: 614-267-0558

Unlimited Proxies.
Registration starts at 11:30 and tournament begins at 12:30 pm sharp.

We will run this tournament on a tight time frame so people can get home and sleep.

$15 entry.

Vintage, obviously.

If you need a reason to come to this tournament, i'll give you one.

The LAST time we had a mox tournament in columbus, the winning deck was an Oath deck piloted by a guy named Kevin Lowry.  Meandeck took that decklist and it became meandeck oath - which we pwned SCG Richmond in Oct of 2004 with - creating Oath in Vintage as we know it.

Every time we hold one of these events, huge tech emerges.

The 2 land belcher deck was born in our columbus events by Michael Simister in early 2004.  The germans took his list.

PLus, you'll get the best testing you could imagine playing agianst so many meandeckers!  If you love vintage, you really should come.

I may be able to make it to this one.  It depends on how the whole "go back home from college for the summer" thing goes.

I'm not.  I'm from Parkersburg, WV, which is right across the river from Marietta.  Two and a half hours for a tournament is not bad at all since Vintage is not exactly booming in West Virginia.

Edit: What kind of proxies are permitted?

just be reasonable with your proxies.   Meaning, have them relatively clear on the face.

My suggestion is to print proxies or write on sharpy on the back of a card.

We have a flexible proxy policy at these tournaments.

I'll be there! These tournies are always fun. Low entry, lots of good people, great after-tournament festivities involving Type 4. I got started in Vintage at these tournies two years ago. I hope everyone can make it out!

Paul Mastriano (Mr. Type Four (He invented Type Four)) is in Pittsburgh and we might be able to convince him to come.

Paul M lives in Pitts.  Maybe you should give him a call and see if he will be making the trip.

The answer is yes because Paul is required to go.  I said so.  No choice in the matter.

*edit*All of Paul Mastrianos base are belong to me!!!

In case you all are not aware, this tournament is on Mother's Day.  Now, whether you care or not is between you and your mother.

Uh oh, Steve does still owe his mother for successfully dealing with the broken door situation that one time.  Razz

If you are coming speak up!

I will be there for sure! (obv).

Roland Chang said he's coming - so we'll have our reigning Vintage champ in the house too!

Look,

between all the other third tier holidays, SCG events and weekends near major conventions and scg events, there are simply no good  weekends for this.

So you guys aren't going to come cause its mothers day?  Hang out with your mother on sat.  Sheesh.

between all the other third tier holidays

I wasn't aware there was a Tier system for holidays too.  I suppose it's all moot anyway, since tier discussions are banned on TMD anyways.

It's basically like this:

Tier One:
Christmas, Easter, Hannaka, etc.

Tier Two:
major federal holiays that aren't major religious holidays.

tier:
commercial holidays that no one gets off.

No tier discussions on TMD, please. ;)

Mother's Day and Father's Day are celebrated in Japan as well.  I'm certain that makes them at least Tier 2, if not Tier 1.5.

What does that have to do with the international nature of the holidays?

Yeah, but we don't have to venerate our ancestors and crap here.

yeah they're dead

Hence the term, "ancestors."  That word implies that they came long before you, and hence, are no longer among the living.

Are there going to be any other prizes besides said pearl?  What if we get enough to pay for a Pearl AND the Timetwister?

NOTICE:

The fact taht this is mother's day is cause for concern and we are now looking at the 21st.  Would that be a good change?  Let me know ASAP either by PM or post here.  (preferably that latter)

I've tentatively rescheduled this for the 21st. OK?
