My name is Anthony Bucchioni, but I'm known in the Cleveland area as Grease.
I started playing Magic in 1998, just as Tempest came out. For the next seven years, I was heavily involved in the standard format. Eventually, I started hanging out with Nam Tran and all those crazy people at The Warzone. Becoming a Vintage player was inevitable. As soon as I judge a sanctioned tournament, I'll be reactivated as a level one judge. I'm also a level one judge for the World of Warcraft TCG. It's a great game, especially as a balance to Vintage Magic.
I just played in my first tournament since January of 2007. I'm in it more for the people than the game, honestly.

Hey, I'm Kate. I'm a student hanging out in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I used to play Magic with my older brother when we were kids, and got back into the game when I got to college. I tend to play with borrowed decks and cards since my budget is mostly eaten by tuition and rent, but I'm working to fix that (my current projects are two Legacy decks--affinity and a variation on the suicide black theme). I enjoy playing in tournaments, but sometimes there's nothing more fun than a good casual game of Type 4. However, sometimes it's a little strange to be the only girl at the gaming store who wasn't dragged there by her boyfriend.

Hello fellow MtG addicts, my name is Moritz and I am a 17yo pupil from Germany. I started playing Magic when Mirrodin and the new card design were introduced. I have only attended one constructed event so far; I mostly play prerelease events. I started playing Vinatage recently (because I like those pesky combodecks) which is kind of a problem because there aren't any other Vintage players in my region so I have to play against Legacy decks .

Hello. I have played Magic on and off since my first taste of it in 1995 or so. Unfortunately, lack of available players has been a problem as well as lack of funds to build decks for tournament play. I quit playing Magic more than once due to lack of funds and players and sold my cards. But, I do enjoy the game and would like to play more regularly. I prefer multiplayer for the social element as well as its greater randomness, and I lean toward Vintage. For me, having fun is more important than winning; sacrilegious I know.

So, here goes...
My name is Preston and I'm a graduate student in Georgia. I have a M.S. in clinical psychology and am currently working on a Psy.D. I started playing Magic back in high school during Mirage, but before Visions was released. I played throughout my high school years until I graduated. At the time, Mercadian Masques block was going strong and I wasn't terribly fond of it. I decided to take a break from Magic for the summer...and just stopped playing entirely.
In the interim a friend of mine introduced me to D&D, which I poured myself into. A couple of years after that we got into D&D minis, which got me back into a tournament scene and caused me to hang around gaming shops again. However, I graduated and need to move to pursue graduate training. This led to me ebaying lots of stuff, including the majority of my magic collection. The whole thing hurt, but I figured I was over it. That was not the case either.
When I arrived at my destination, I began going to the local gaming shop. There was some interest in D&D minis, but what I found was a thriving magic scene. In the span of a couple of months, I was back in.This was around the release of coldsnap. I generally played standard (that was the primary focus for the store). However, I soon became aware of the seedy underbelly of Magic that was Vintage. People played cards I'd always heard about but never seen shuffled. Strategies were complex and cards were overpowered. I was pretty well hooked on it too.
I still play standard primarily, as there isn't much of a T1 scene where I am now, but I like Vintage and enjoy thinking about strategies for it. I've been lurking on and off on this site for about a year, so I decided to take the plunge and register.

Hey, I'm Eric, a judge/store employee/teacher/crazy guy who works at Superstars in San Jose. We organize weekly Vintage tournaments, and I figured that since people are already talking about said tournaments on the forums, it would be good to participate a bit. I enjoy playing vintage as well as judging it, and I've been lurking for a while as an unregistered user, so why not join?

Hi all. The name's Will. I have been playing the game for about as long as most others on here. Although, until recently I haven't played very competitively. I am on TMD to gain a better understanding of the finer points of the game.

Figures that I would have to post right under another Will. I played mostly casual for a really long time and also was in Beta for MTGO when it was still free. It was much better that way. Then I started working with the current Vintage World Champion and he convinced me to try out Vintage. At first, I was reluctant to because of the initial cost to the format but all in all it has not been horrible. My alias in is spite of the three people that convinced me to come back to the game that I have gotten out of 3 different times. I just started playing competitive Magic and have really enjoyed it. I am mostly joining for the tournament reports since most of my deck building occurs in the multiple hours that I waste at work talking about decks and everything else magic with Paul and Brian.

Hey Everyone. My name is Jim (Jimmy, James) Peyton. I am an on and off PTQ player and I really enjoy Legacy as well. I joined this forum because a local TO (TripleAgent) has started to hold some Vintage tournaments that are close to where I live. I played my first tournament about 2 months ago and made top 4 playing TPS. I'm looking forward to becoming a more competitive vintage player, and a member of the local vintage community.

Hello everyone, I'm from BC, Canada.
I've recently come back to the game, and have always found Vintage a fascinating and fun format to play (I've been lurking here for awhile, never had anything worthwhile to contribute yet.), and having finished school in my latest break I can finally afford some of the staples of the format. I'm hoping to start showing up at some of the tournaments held in my area.
I've played in 2 vintage events (Around when Grim long was 'brand new') - I top 8'd one with Probasco gifts (the one with Severance/Belcher) and played 6 rounds against null rod with a 4 colour belcher deck.

Hey, I'm Dave. I first got some cards back in '99, but I didn't really start playing until 2002. Sadly, after high school most of the people I know that play moved away for college, which meant that for a year or so I didn't really play until I found a new group. However, life intervened again, and I haven't played much since 2006. I still enjoy reading about the game and occasionally getting more cards though. I'm just waiting to find others in my area to start playing again.

I go by Jura and I'm from the US. Interests being anime, manga, Magic, foruming, and sometimes blogging.
I use to lurk here a couple years ago... I started playing after Darksteal came out and my first cards and deck was the blue artifact pre-con (which had skullclamp, modular creatures, etc.) even though when I bought it...the box was for the lesser green/white precon. I was actually beating people with it in casual games...as sad as that is. In a way it was meant to be since my favorite cards are mostly blue and artifact.
My play style and preferences is casual, yet open and willing to play stronger decks. I've never done a tournament or draft, but I do keep up to with rules as much as possible. Most decks I enjoy tend to be interactive with the other player.
Livejournal, my own site, various sites I have RSS feeds for, Youtube, Nico Nico Douga, and several webmaster forums are my main web hang outs. Hopefully this will become another.

Hey,
I'm new to the Vintage format and have only been to two tournies. Though I did go 3-1 in the last one I went to... Even if it was only a 9 man tourny, and it was 2-1-1 do to time. I went off and milled his whole deck with Grindstone but it was turn five and couldn't make him draw =/.
Oh well, here's hoping for many more great tournies and all.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I hail from southern New Hampshire and attend events at Myriad in Salem fairly regularly. I have been playing Magic since Revised on and off, with a couple notable absences from mid Urzas block, not due to power issues, to Judgement, when I started playing in tournaments, and from just after Darksteel came out, because of school, not because Affinity was stupid, to Saviors, but more realistically Ravnica, as I was done school and could play again.
I don't find myself attending events other than Myriad due to distance, as anything over an hour is hard for me to justify without a copilot, though I do intend to try to start attending more events, at least so long as they don't fall on the day of a large Standard tournament or PTQ as the players I would bring with me play those formats far more than Vintage.
I am not one to post overmuch, as most of the time I feel that what I am saying is only tearing people down and that is not constructive.
On AIM I an Mithrandir153.

Hello, my name is Jon, I live and play in Boulder CO. I have played casual vintage on and off since about 96, but only in the last few months have I decided to take a swing at Tournament vintage. I've been to three local tournaments at the local comic store "Time Warp", playing Slaver at the first and Bomberman in the two more recent ones. I made Top 8 for the first time just this month. My wife, Kate, also plays a bit, but she appreciates the casual formats more than the tournament ones.
I have a B.S. in physics from Fort Lewis College, and I work in sales at a precision optics manufacturer in Denver. Anybody in the area send me a message, I'd love to find new people to playtest with.

hey now. I'm jasper, aka jstarfiret. Born and raised just north of San Francisco. I've been active on mtgsalvation since Jan 05, and played and collected since '96. i teach high school and run the game club here, trying to usher along new players into understanding the game beyond their little pokemon/yugioh 'ish collections. I have almost everything outside the P9, but haven't ever really put together a strong T1 deck. I guess I prefer casual decklists and styles, though it could be laziness or fear that keeps me from entering vintage competitive. so much of what is written about magic is for the spikey types that i hope to find this community more diverse in its cards and deck flavors.

My name is John, I'm 27 years old and just returning to college after an 8 year period of wasting my life at dead end jobs. I've been lurking on TMD for approx. 3 1/2 years. I've played in a hand full of Vintage tournaments, always placing poorly to a a lack of practice and playskill (mostly the former). I haven't played at all (other than drafts on occasion) in any format since Vintage Worlds '08 (Started 1-0, finished 1-4 ) I just recently got an email address that TMD accepts so I opened an account but I probably wont post much.

Looks like a registered a long time ago but never introduced myself or posted very much. So, hello everybody. It's interesting to read this thread and see the various backgrounds we all come from.
I first started playing when Revised came out, and I was really into the game during the Ice Age/Mirage era. Ice Age is still my favorite set, more for nostalgia and art more than playability of course. I'm extremely thankful to have pack-scored 3 Forces from Alliances boosters, without them I don't think I'd have the same interest in Eternal formats. The highlight of that early career was winning a local tournament with my R/G Beats deck, leaning heavily on Hammer of Bogardan. That was at The Game Cave in Charlottesville, VA... which hasn't been around for a very long time so I doubt anybody's heard of it. When Wizards implemented their cunning plan to systematically obsolete all the cards I had carefully collected (aka Type 2 and the block rotation system), I realized the incoming scam and quit in disgust so I could waste my money on other hobbies. But thank goodness I didn't sell all my cards, because years later, when I got to college, I discovered that some friends still played Magic. I remember buying some Legions and Scourge boosters but the cards didn't really hook me. I was impressed by Ravnica and Time Spiral though, and I've been sucked back in since then. Nonetheless, I'll always be an Eternal player at heart, as I have no interest in trying to keep up with Standard.
I'm mostly a casual player, but I've learned a ton about strategy and theory from reading forums like this.

My name is Benjamin Arredondo, I've been playing Magic The Gathering since I was 11 years old, I am now 24. I began during Unlimited and Revised and played til about 5th edition. The game has changed a lot since then... My birthday is July 28th so I am a Leo, I hate your face naturally when we play and I don't like losing. I am a full time pizza delivery driver, I've been working in the pizza industry since I was 15 and 1/2. I play magic nightly, and usually for hours upon end. I frequent several shops in the Richmond area to play when I can, mostly when my deck isn't 20 proxy. I've been to 4 tournaments including Va State Chamionships, SCG $5,000 open, SCG Power 9( 1 seat higher than Menendian before i dropped), and Cary Cup(8th place) as I have only started playing on a tournament level in the past 3 years. My DC rating is not so high cause I don't compete in many DCI events due to lack of money mainly ( learn how to tip ). I'm always down for a game wherever I usually keep my cards on me just in case I have to throw down. I don't attend college as I would prefer to work, always have. I spend more money on my car then I do on magic, being a driver for a living and all. You wanna play rough???

My name is Mike Walker and I recently came back to Magic after a 7 or 8 year absence. I am a full-time Business major with only 2 semesters left until they release me I started playing back during the Urza's cycle after finding some Portal cards on the ground outside of a local card shop. After dabbling with Type 2 for a year or two I discovered TMD and became fascinated with K-Run's Parfait deck. I left Magic during the Odyssey block because of a lack of income. I just came back to Magic after discovering some friends at work loved to play. With a stable job and my college life winding down to its end, I decided to come back to Vintage in a strong way. I rebuilt a working version of Parfait I used to play and quickly taught my Standard-playing friends to hate it I'm happy to say I've started my acquisition of the Power 9 with the purchase of a Mox Ruby and Mox Jet. They look oh so pretty! I hope to finish all 9 pieces within a couple of months. If anyone is from Montana, particularly the Billings area, I'd love to hear from you!

hey guys, my name is billy, and im fairly new to vintage (about a year since i started playing in 15 proxy tournaments) im 18 years old, i live in phoenix az, which has a moderately healthy type one scene. i started playing in ravnica, my first tournament was the prerelease, and i recently sold my standard cards for vintage. hah. i fugure i would rather invest my time and money in a format where the cards retain value. so far, i have played in about 20 vintage tournaments, the most notable of which was winning a beta mox ruby, slapping that tournament with ichorids and 2/2 tokens. iv made multiple top eights, including the recent mox jet tournament at GPLA, and some top fours in local tournaments. i primarily play ichorid, and TPS, and am working on rebuilding my type one collection. im mainly interested in finding halfway competitive players to test with on MWS, so please feel free to IM me on AIM (ichorid123) or on msnm ( wjgogol@yahoo.com)
