Hello everyone. I am Clark. I like the card Kiln Fiend.

I'm pretty new to vintage (I mostly have played hatebears), but I think I found the deck for my in Grow, because that deck can sideboard in kiln fiends for hilarity. Hope to see you guys around (Ps. I can't find a recent grow thread, did I miss one? I don't want to accidentally make one when there is already an active one).

Welcome to TMD, Clark! There's nothing recent on Gro in the Vintage deck forums, so feel free to start a new thread.

Hiya everyone - thought I would write a quick note introducing myself to the board - I'm Jerry, from New York and I came on the site primarily for the original art sections.

Most of the artwork I own can be found here: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=78028

If anyone has artwork they are looking to sell or trade, feel free to PM me or send me an email on CAF.

Thanks!!

Hi there,

My name is Naveen and I currently live in Pittsburgh. Before this I was in San Francisco for eight years, Chicago for two, and grew up in Michigan. I started playing Magic during Revised, quit for six or seven years and then came back when I moved to California in 2004. I was generally a casual player with the exception of a Type 1 tournament that I played in 1995 in which I read the text on Necropotence for the first time. It was a short tournament. Then a few years ago I got the urge to improve my play and start to play competitively and got into Legacy. I mostly play online now because I have a two year old at home and it's tough to find a block of time to get away but I'm hoping to play more with actual cards again starting this year.

I started paying attention to Vintage (reading articles and going through decklists mostly) about a year ago and really got excited about it while watching the Eternal Weekend coverage. Now I need to start the (probably slow) process of acquiring power and find proxy tournaments to play in the meantime. I doubt I'll have anything to actually contribute to this forum for quite some time but I'm happy to be here and really looking forward to Vintage.

Welcome to TMD, and to Vintage, Naveen!

If you're looking for events in the vicinity of Pittsburgh, I'd shoot The Atog Lord a PM; he should have a better handle on what Vintage events can be found local to you.

Good luck!

Hi everyone !

I initially started playing magic arround 2001 as a kid, had a try in vintage as a teenager arround 2005 shortly after though I stopped magic entirely (Probably was leagues away from being able to grasp vintage). Started playing casualy again arround 2010, played a bit of legacy at the start of 2013 and eventually rediscovered Vintage in April. Boy what a feeling it was to be Tinkering, Yawgwilling again haha Vintage I love you, why did I ever leave you? Never Again lol

The format is a totally different monster now than from my short-lived initiation almost 10 years ago. It is much more open with a really diverse metagame and none of the archetypes are really dominant now. The blue decks have been crippled with restrictions, Workshops have had a shit load of new and powerfull printings, Aggro/Null rod is finally doing something to the broken decks that they can't just ignore, and Bazaar finally has a resilient and deadly archetype to abuse it.  The only disappointment from my past experience is Storm, I really feel quite sad that the most powerfull deck (inherently at least) would become so hated upon that only true mastery could make the lists do anything at all. Although it does seem like they are starting to emerge again with the metagame Shifting towards Creatures now.

To catch up with lost time and to greatly improve my play level towards it being decent (6 Months ago i lost like 90% of my games, not really fun to begin in a format). I've since spent considerable time reading SCG articles and the So Many Insane Plays Podcast wich allow you to catch on to the Magic theory pretty fast if you put the effort into it.

I Don't like playing anything that isn't completely unfair and broken so naturally the decks I've been playing with are Burning Oath, Pitch Long (a revisited list of my own Brewing) and Grixis control (quite bold choices for a beginner I know). I Also enjoy the prison variants of Workshops with Smokestack.

Currently I live in a country with a really small vintage metagame (France). Almost all we have here is one tournament per year (the Bazaar of Moxen) so i've been mostly playing on Cockatrice and haven't bothered acquiring the power and expensive stuff I don't own. However I plan on moving to the West coast pretty soon (the north Cal Bay area exactly). Where from what I've gathered they have a pretty active vintage scene with some famous players like Smmenen. This just might be the occasion to start buying into the format, any thoughts from players in that Area?

Hope to be debating with and learning from you guys here at the Mana Drain often.  Also Props to the Mods and Admins, your site is filled with invaluable information and Hindsight on Vintage which you can't find anywhere else. I wonder what the format would be without TMD.

Hey, I'm Emery. I currently live in Vermont where I work as a part time cook and a freelance audio engineer and producer. Played a fair amiunt of vintage in NH/MA/NY from 2006-2007, really liked stax and tps. I then moved to Atlanta GA, worked for a small recording studio/ audio production house most known for TV shows such as Archer and Squidbillies. Legacy is more popular in that part of the country, But now I'm back in New England and getting back up on the vintage meta. Looking forward to seeing some of you at events!

Just got an acct here from reading the FB art page. I have a few answers to some questions on some art threads but not sure how to reply on those yet.

I also have a collection of Vintage cards but sadly nowhere to play locally.

Hey Everyone,

My name is Daniel, and as with many magic players, I played magic when i was younger (From 4th edition through Portal) and managed to stumble back upon the game around New Phyrexia.  Though there was a long pause, I found the game to be the same, sure rules changed, now there are these planeswalkers and WOW if creatures aren't REALLY good, but in the end the core game that I loved as a kid is still here.

I currently live and play in Lowell MA, where one of the locals introduced me into the vintage community and I was surprised with how approachable the community was.  I played (and did horrible) at a small event at Scholars in MA and was just blown away with the reception a new to the format player was received.  As with most things in life you tend to return to good experiences, so my plan is to continue on playing vintage when and where I can!

Hello,

My name is Aaron. I'm relatively new to Vintage and Magic in general compared to a lot of you. I started playing during Lorwyn block and have only been playing Vintage for two years. I am from Michigan and we travel the Midwest for Vintage and Legacy events.

I used to grind the PTQ circuit but with a new child I've stopped playing Standard and Limited to focus my now limited time on eternal formats.

Hey Everyone,

I'm glad to be joining this forum in hopes of finding some original magic artwork that I love.  I'm 33 years old, live in Greenville, SC, and am an environmental engineer (P.E.).  I've been playing since 1995 while I lived in Germany, but mostly played casual with my friends.  I have recently started drafting which I find very enjoyable and began building a large cube of 1000 cards + basic lands.

For those in the original artwork forum, I hope to be making good contacts soon.

Hey guys,

I am pretty new to Vintage, especially comparatively, having gotten into the format in the past 8 months. I played my first ever Vintage event as a non-proxy 17 player tournament in San Antonio with a White Trash build and got second to a Workshops deck after a series of atrocious plays on both our parts, lol, and got my third 'goyf for my trouble. Very Happy Right now, I am trying to build a Bazaar based deck for MTGO and I already got the bazaars - really looking forward to Vintage Masters in July.

Right now I live in Atlanta, GA and would like to get active playing in paper - probably rebuild a white trash deck.

Good to meet everyone!

Hi everyone,

my name is Philipp, I'm 28 and from Austria. I'm currently working in the financial sector.

My magical career started somewhere during the Tempest Block, but I first quit at the end of Urza Block. I picked up the game again in 2008 and played my first tournament (Legacy) in the beginning of 2010. I have basically a complete cardpool for Legacy and play whatever I'm in the mood for, lately it's been Lands, Miracles and Gifts Ungiven brews.

I also play lots of FFA multiplayer with my friends. Other than playing Magic I'm into indoors soccer, reading and partying.

You're asking why I ended up here even though I'm a Legacy guy? Well, I've been lurking for some time now and playing Vintage on Cockatrice every now and then, and since some guys are trying to reestablish Vintage in Vienna via proxy tournamets (first one firing in March) I figured it was time to register here.

Looking forward to discussing decks and strategies with you guys and sorry for any grammar/spelling errors since English is not my first language.

Regards,
Philipp/Choke

Hello everyone,

Long-time lurker, first time post...er. Well anyway, I've been playing exclusively on MTGO for the past 4 years waiting patiently for Vintage to arrive online. In the interim, I've been a prominent member of the Classic community including hosting a year-round PRE for competitive Classic. With Vintage Masters on the horizon, I figure now is as good a time as any to finally register here on TMD. We also have an active community over at classicquarter.com, which will transition to Vintage/Legacy once Classic is phased out.

Howdy all.  My name is Steve, and I started playing Magic in 1994 when my uncle gave me a stack of Beta cards he got from a work buddy.  Played super casual 200 card decks for awhile, then stopped playing for a while after my mom threw away all my cards.  Got back into magic about 4 years or so ago, and have been playing Legacy for 2 of those.  Just went to my first Vintage tournament in Berkeley last weekend, played Dredge and did surprisingly well. I absolutely love the power and flexibility of the decks, and definitely plan on making it to the next local Vintage event.

Hello everyone. My name is Bill, I've been playing Magic since 1999 and have been active on and off since then. I found a good store locally for FNM and keep up with standard, but my heart has always been in T1. My favorite deck is Aggro Stax, and I've since built variants of Noble Fish, East Coast Wins, and Dark Times. I split my hobby time between MTG, World of Warcraft, and Warhammer. I'm just getting back in the Vintage Tournament scene and am looking forward to meeting some of you in the NJ, NY, CT area.

Hello everyone,

My name is Anthony, and I started playing Magic with the release of Magic 2014. After about 3 months of standard/limited (core set drafts are amazing fun) I took a a break to attempt to balance school better. Returning in December, I focused on entering into Vintage, and it has been an unbelievable time so far! I have met a tremendous amount of excellent people playing this game, and the culture of Magic continues to amaze me from the strategies of deck-building to the fantastic artwork and the economics behind a collectible game rich with 20 years of history. I look forward to meeting more players, enthusiasts, and collectors as I learn more about the Vintage format. Cheers to many more adventures and times to come!

Hey, my names Ben. I got talked into playing again by my coworker Aaron. Look merfolk is a cheap entry deck. 2k later I still have to proxy power. But there's a thread for that. Most of my play was casual back in the late 90s. So I'm light on playable cards but I'm trying to build up enough variety so I won't just be that merfolk guy. I'll probably spend most of my time on this board lurking and stealing all your tricks. Smile

Hi, I'm Allen.  I'm very new to vintage (haven't played my first game yet) but have played legacy for about a year.  I started magic just 3 years ago when Innistrad was released.  Hoping to learn a lot and have a lot of fun.
