I'm not sure what the story from year's past has been on this particular issue, but what's the word on bringing back the official TMD tee-shirts?  Since this is the "official TMD open", it'd be nice to have a memento from this event like a tee-shirt, for both nostalgic and intrinsic purposes.  That would be one of the things I would be willing to pay a couple extra bucks for, or perhaps they could even be awarded as some sort of prize.  Are there monetary or legal restrictions that would prevent this from happening?

It would be cool if it read "I drove from ________   and All I got was this stupid TMD T-shirt"

Damn it...that was supposed to be a surprise.

Remember how in my original post I said there was going to be a special prize for that game I wish to premiere in between each round.  Well, those speical prizes will be T-shirts with the same logo as will be on the playmat.  Additionally, all staff members will receive a t-shirt in addition to their normal compensation.

I'm pretty sure that I and a few of my teamates will be making the drive down to compete in this event.

No more tie breaker BS on the team event:

@Nuts and Sacks:  I have every intention of taking that trophy away from you guys;  you got lucky on tenth of a percent tie breaks last time, but I predict your luck has run out this time.

I really, really, hope that my "friends" (you sissy losers know who you are and should be ashamed) don't punk out this time; because the last Waterbury I attended was fantastic.

Wow...ICBM AND Avant-Garde are making the trip down.

Seems like there is only one well-known team that won't be there.

Meandeck?  Are you going to let everyone else take home the prizes?

I think you're forgetting someone.

Also, can anyone pick me up at the Hartford Airport just after midnight on Friday (technically Satruday)? If anyone can, that would be amazing. Also, I need a place to stay.

I don't think there will be any competition from team nuts & staff, its pretty much a dead team now.

Ooh, excellent. I only need a ride from the airport on friday night, actually.

On sunday, though, if someone can give me a ride to any of the local Amtrak stations, that would be a big help. There are several that are like 15 minutes from Waterbury. I'm fairly flexible on the times here, but between noon and 2pm would be best.

Updated bye list

Also...made the Free Mana Drain Event start after round 5, instead of 6, since I, nor others, want to be there until 5:00 am before coming back for Day 2. Smile

For the first time in years, I will be playing in this event.

That's right folks, Samite Healer himself will be working to take away that trophy from Nuts and Staff......they don't stand a chance.

Travis......you nub!

I think more people would get involved in the tema challenge(and start trashtalking) if they realized the extreme bragging rights that are up for grabs.

For starters, the trophy is HUGE.  Travis would vouch for me but he has recently been banned.  All I could do was find a picture of one online that is about the same size and shape.
Though if you could believe it, this one here in the picture is a bit smaller than the one I give out.  Also the winning team will win some cool type 1 stuff(Mana Drain+ stuff) depending on the number of teams I have.

So c'mon, let's hear it...besides, ICBM, Nuts and Staff, and Avant Garde, what three person combo is taking this down?

On a random note, don't I owe you money from forever ago? I can't remember what for, though.

Alot of people have asked me over the course of the past few weeks if any TMD OPEN Playmats or T-shirts would be available for sale.  The answer is no, I have made just enough of them for prizes and to give as part of the compensation to my full time staff.

You may be asking yourself, why I wouldn't make more and make a killing selling them.  My ethics are the main thing stopping me.  Let me explain.

Let's say WotC made a VERY limited edition (only printed 8 total) Foil Mishra's Workshop and gave it out as prize at Gencon this year for the top 8 of Worlds.  Now let's say you came in 4th and won one of this bad boys.  You check Ebay the next day and see that the 7th place finisher is selling his and the current high bid is $900.  "Wow," you say, "This thing is worth alot."  You consider selling it, but it still has alot of sentimental value to you as well, so you don't.

Now, let's say two weeks later WotC mysteriously sends them out to all DCI members who have played in  5+ DCI events in the last 3 months as part of their rewards program.  Not only does an Ebay check show their current value now at only $15, but you also feel a loss in the "specialness" of your prize because EVERYONE has one(or four).

By making a very limited amount of playmats and shirts, they are much more special prizes to the people who win them(and also it makes them a greater incentive for people to work Waterbury).

So, could I make alot of money making extras and selling them? Yes.  Will I do it? No.
