I've noticed several decks that use the led, and as I'm just getting into vintage... I have NO IDEA how it interacts with cards other than yag'will..
Any tips or situational explanations would help greatly. Thanks

The basic interaction is: put something on the stack, and respond by using LED. You discard your hand, but whatever was on the stack stays there. You now have 3 mana, and whatever that stack object is, will resolve, and voila, you have 3 mana to abuse whatever. For example, let's say you cast Demonic Tutor, then break LED in response. Now you have 3 mana and whatever you tutored for, and you can use that mana to play whatever you tutored for. This works for all kinds of tutors, and also draw spells: play Ancestral, break LED, and now you have 3 mana to use to lay whatever you drew off the Recall.

One thing to note, that Matt didn't state, is that you can't use LED to play a spell that's in your hand.
You can use the mana created by it in some of the ways that Matt mentioned, but you can't go: LED Demonic Tutor, tapping and saccing LED and discarding your hand
The reason behind the fact that you can't sac the LED to pay for a spell is because LED reads: Sacrifice Lion's Eye Diamond, Discard your hand: Add three mana of any one color to your mana pool. Play this ability only any time you could play an instant.
The last clause means that you can't use its ability during the announcing of a spell or ability, so you need to add the mana to play spells or abilities before you play them.

Also important to note is that you can't announce a spell, wait for them to not counter it and then sac LED for mana while that spell is still on the stack. If you want to have LED mana the way Matt said you have to announce [D-Tutor type spell] and then break LED before passing priority. At times it can be a little risky, but if you set up properly you should be all set.

Another important use is that with all the above, LED has basically useless in competitive decks aside from Belcher ever since it got restricted (and indeed, unrestricted LED is horribly broken with Will as you have already noted).
