I'm for it as long as the tournament doesn't get ninja cancelled because this RIW tournament suddenly happens.

The RIW tournament BETTER happen, cuz Waterbury is too far for me and driving 8+ hours to columbus just for a mox seems bad too.

SATURDAY AUGUST 5th.

RIW Hobbies will be hosting a ten proxy Vintage tournament for a set of power eight:  That is 1 Black Lotus, 1 Mox Sapphire, 1 Ancestral Recall, 1 Time Walk, 1 Mox Ruby, 1 Mox pearl, 1 Mox Emerald, 1 Mox Jet.  The top eight will draft off these eight fantastic Unlimited Edition cards based upon final standings after a top eight playoff.  The event will begin at 11:oo am, and deck registration will begin around ten o'clock.
The entry fee for the Saturday power 8 event will be $30.oo, and prize support is guarenteed, no matter the turn out.

I have also been promised that this event will take place, (no moving dates, no cancellations, et cetera) no matter what.  This one is definately on, no matter what, no matter how, no matter what happens.

SUNDAY AUGUST 6th.

Once again, a Vintage, ten proxy event held at RIW Hobbies.  However, first prize for this event will be an unopened starter deck of Alpha edition Magic cards... (Saucey?).  Entry will be $25.oo  and additional prize support for the Alpha Starter deck will be determined based upon attendence.  Once again, prize support is guarenteed, and the tournament is guarenteed to take place no matter what the attendence is August 6th.  This event will also begin at 11.oo am, and the deck registration will begin at 1o.oo am.

Here is the thing:

the 23rd is the same weekend as the cleveland tournament.  The 30th is the waterbury weekend and only a week away from RIW and two weeks away from Gencon.  Even I"LL be sick of vintage by then.

I think the 16th is the only viable date.  I'll confifm that date tomorrow.

I hope you reconsider on the 23rd, it is the best date for most of our play group, plus the other Ohio event is not appealing to many of my new players.

Wait, there was a first "Meandeck Open"?  When was that title given to the Soldiery tournaments?

Of course, I will not be at this tournament.  I'm going to be in Kyoto that day.

I wish I could justify driving 5 hours to play for a mox and keep my flawless record vs. Meandeck going (which stands at 7-0). But as it stands I'll be battling Team Ogre for Mox of their own in STL.

Why?

Wouldn't you rather come play against me?

We could like, you know, chat and stuff after the tournament and so forth.

Steve, I'd love to come beat you on your home turf and make us 1-1 but unfortunately driving 6 hours for a lotus > 8 1/2 hours for a mox

I remember I beat you with Stax when you played UW fish at one of the spring Chicagos...although I wasn't Meandeck then...

I stand corrected, 7-0-1.

This match still remains the best game of Magic I have played this year btw. Our Epic Old Man of the Sea battle lasted a full on 35 minutes.

You weren't on meandeck and I was still playing bad decks. I was still a random scrub at the time.

@ Lyle: The turn 1 Bob vs. turn 1 Old Man game was epic. I've never even heard of a game as swingy as that one.

We should prob move this to PM or a new thread if we plan to continue cause we are getting a little off topic......but this is making me want to drive 5 hours......

Lets not forget we both cracked out lotus turn 1.

You played Void and Bob.

I played Old Man.

You followed with Waterfront Bouncer.

I was playing gifts, if I would have noticed the life totals I would have noticed I could gifts for black mana sources, build 1 storm and tendrils you for the win.

You alpha striked the next turn I believe.

I think your scared that I won't make a mistake like that again.

Ediit-Drive the 5 hours wussy boy.  Very Happy

sorry for continuing to derail this, but I couldnt resist the urge to taunt Becker publicly.
