Okay here is the real deal.  The July power tournament has been moved to the weekend of August 5th and 6th.  Sorry for the inconvience.  Apparently what ended up happening was RIW was recently offered the chance to host a limited PTQ the same weekend as the power tournament, and thus, RIW was forced to change the date of its Vintage event.(You can't turn down PES the first time they finally, after long, long, last, give us a major event.)  I have personally, been on hiatus from Magic and TMD as a result of a long vacation and a mangled arm; and only recently discovered myself that the event had been changed and given a new date.  I'm extremely sorry if this change of date has inconvenienced anybody, or caused any unecessary confusion.

Anyways, to make up for the delay RIW has decided to up the prize by adding a second event for the following Sunday of the fifth.  So here is the list of events.

SATURDAY AUGUST 5th.

RIW Hobbies will be hosting a ten proxy Vintage tournament for a set of power eight:  That is 1 Black Lotus, 1 Mox Sapphire, 1 Ancestral Recall, 1 Time Walk, 1 Mox Ruby, 1 Mox pearl, 1 Mox Emerald, 1 Mox Jet.  The top eight will draft off these eight fantastic Unlimited Edition cards based upon final standings after a top eight playoff.  The event will begin at 11:oo am, and deck registration will begin around ten o'clock.
The entry fee for the Saturday power 8 event will be $30.oo, and prize support is guarenteed, no matter the turn out.

I have also been promised that this event will take place, (no moving dates, no cancellations, et cetera) no matter what.  This one is definately on, no matter what, no matter how, no matter what happens.

SUNDAY AUGUST 6th.

Once again, a Vintage, ten proxy event held at RIW Hobbies.  However, first prize for this event will be an unopened starter deck of Alpha edition Magic cards... (Saucey?).  Entry will be $25.oo  and additional prize support for the Alpha Starter deck will be determined based upon attendence.  Once again, prize support is guarenteed, and the tournament is guarenteed to take place no matter what the attendence is August 6th.  This event will also begin at 11.oo am, and the deck registration will begin at 1o.oo am.

I have also been told to report that RIW will be holding affordably costed Tempest, and Urza Block sealed events throughout the weekend for those of us unlucky enough to narrowly miss top eight.  As well as Mana Drain and Workshop side events as slots fill up.

Once again.  I apologize for the changing of the date for this tournament, and also for any inconvenience that it may have caused.  However, I do repeat that all prizes and events for this weekend are guarenteed regardless of attendence.
I hope to see many of you there Mana Draining, Smokestacking, Ritualing and Fisholing it up at the top tables!!!

To my dearest mangled Mr. DeMars,

Please note that I have, once again, my proper status and may now chirp you beyong control.

Team Canada all but guarantees victory at both of these events.  Since you have ran into a brick wall (so I hear, literraly) Canada has dominated RIW.

PS: Josh's sister is the bomb; I know... Seriously...

I was shown the Lotus and the Recall yesterday;  and they are in fantastic condition.  At least EX+ on both of them.  Pam always gives away fantastic condition pieces of power for these events, even at the insistence of the Michigan Vintage players that supplying top condition cards really isn't necessary for these events!  There is no doubt in my mind that the rest of the Power will likely be in the same condition.

I have also been told that pro tour champ, and Team RIW player, Mark "herberheezy" Herberholtz will be attending, if not playing in this event, and that there will be some beat "heezy" and win something twist going on.
That is tenetive, but in the works at the moment.

Pam is really going for a Vintage weekend kind of a deal.  The store will most likely be open 24 hours on Saturday with non stop drafting and Vintage events going on throughout the night.  This is going to be the bomb, and I would encourage anybody who can make it to come down.

Pac,

It was "brick wall" or speeding automobile, no third option was available to me at the time.
But it all worked out because your Mom thinks my surgery scar is "Sexy," I told her it was an old bull fighting wound.
She says I'm the best kisser in school.  j/k
Either way, I guess I'll have to put you mouthy Canadians back in your places, and return to my normal place of Dominace in the Michigan metagame.

Cheers bud,

DeMars,

I just got off the phone with Franklin's sister and after drilling her relentlessly, she informed me, in a feat of lust, that you actually did not break your arm.  She says you were recently diagnosed with carpel tunnel syndrome due to continously beating off men in the RIW parking lot in order to pay for your ride home after blatantly losing to Canadians all day...

Seriously man, you need to up your price a bit and save your arm or you can make more money using that big mouth of yours Wink

Of all of the things I find offensive, pathetic, and erroneous about this post, (which is the entire thing, besides the fact that Franklin's sister is a dirty, dirty girl); I am astounded by how cocky you have grown with regard to your ability to play Vintage Magic the Gathering.  Do you not remember the plethra of "savage beatings" I have distributed upon you and your, so called, "team Canada" over the course of your collective so called careers?  Or, had you simply forgotten that I have NEVER EVER NOT EVEN ONCE , lost to a member of your crew (though I have swiftly and effortlessly dispatched many a Canadian from an RIW top eight contention slot, or top eight playoff?).  Clearly, your recent success in a "DEMARSLESS" metagame has led you to develop some sort of altered, backwards and otherwise incorrect state of consciousness where in your mind you believe that up is down, team Canada can beat me, and have obviously displaced your own BLATENT homosexual tendencies on me  <example:  you doing jell-o shots out of Josh Minore's mouth at the last event...  I'm just glad I wasn't there to see it, (narrator shivers at the grotesque thought)>, when clearly I am a womanizing straight man and you are a dandy.  But, not to worry;  Its only a month until the RIW VINTAGE WEEKEND, at which time I will quickly jog your memory when I crush you and your pussyfooted bedfellows' (AKA your teamates') dreams of making top 8 in both main events, as well as kill you to death  in the Urza Block Sealed event.

Looking forward to destroying the hopes and dreams of you and yours,

Fuck.  I'm going to be back in America for this one.  I seriously doubt I will actually play though, as
1) I'm going to be seriously jet lagged
2) I haven't flopped a card in like 3 months
3) I quit Magic, remember?

However, I will likely make an appearance.

In your absense, Mr. DeMars, you have failed to realize that the Canadians have risen to power.  Failure to acknowledge this will result in the serious thrashing of everyone and everything that stands in our way... I just can't help it if we're just that good...  Sorry...

You also make several statements that my teamates have failed to beat you.  You failed to include me; is there a reason for that baby?  Maybe it's because I have ravaged you so savagely that even Franklin's sister felt her ass loosen (and it was a giant gaping hole before!).

I strongly suggest that everyone planning on attending this tournament studies hard and knows the beating they're walking into because the last thing they'll see is me beating on cooker penguins and douchebags wearing scarves Razz

@Droba:  Put your wussy rings on, drop your chopsticks get your pink ponies in gear because we've all got some drinking to do biatch!

Paul Mastriano will be there.  I understand that this means a lot of people aren't going to show up, but I guess I can't help that.

This thread has degenerated into some of the most awesome smack-talking ever.  Props to PAC for being so damn creative, and props to Demars for giving the best hand job I have ever recieved in the parking lot of a hobby store.  I really wish I could have given him a better tip, but that's what he gets for not accepting American Express.

That actually seems rather odd; I slid it through his mother's rack the other day and it authenticated without hesitation...  Are we to assume that his trollop of a mother is actually more sophisticated than the almighty, scarf-wearing douchebag himself?

I seriously can't answer that question though; his mother didn't want it in her ass because she was worried the kids would come out black...

I look forward to ravaging a certain Mr. Mastriano as well Wink

Bring on more newbies for me to thrash in this thread!!!!!

But Brian, if this were the case (and Thank Vishnu that it isn't) why would I have such awesome genes?  If you were my father, wouldn't I be cursed with girly forearms and have the uncanny desire to seek and explore the taste of a man's rectum?  Since this is not the case, I therefore cannot be your son.  If you were to present me with the notion that Franklin's sister was my mother, that may be a tad more believable, however. Wink

Paul Mastriano is 3-0
The other meandecker, Lyle, is 1-2.

JDizzle (GWS) is out at 1-2
Pacman is playing DeMars

Arend lost to Paul M in round one.  Arend is playing Slaver.

Let's see if I can remember this:

Brian Demars - Slaver
Alana Saulnier - Gifts Oath
Paul Mastriano - Pitch Long
Paul Nicolo - PaulNicolo.dec (U/W/B Fish)
Jon Wilkerson - ?

I forget the other three.

I played like I haven't played in 3 months, which can be expected.

Did I talk to you???

I went 4-2 losing to Arend and DeMars.  Mox Monkey and drains are houses against Stax, especially when my board for CS blows... Bah...

Top 8 is basically like this:

Wilkerson
DeMars
Arend
Alana
Creator of T4
Fishalo
The guy with the tattoos
Last guy dunno...

RIW is now my favorite venue to play in... ever.

Reasons why:

*Extremely "chill" atmosphere. The people there were very cool.

*Prize cards are of better quality than the moxes we're used to playing for.

*Judging was solid.  The judges had played Type 1 before and understand the difference between slow play and "I have 16 cards in hand because of Necropotence and I just Brainstormed".

*They hired a security guy to hang out to help prevent theft.  Probably unnecessary, but a nice touch considering what just happened to Roland.

*They had a cook-out going on outside with reasonably priced food/drinks.  I think a hamburger was like $1 and a Coke was $.50

*Well stocked store front with fairly priced stuff, including ALOT of Type 1 cards.

*Free lighters.
