Congradulations to Jake and I@n for the split. Also props to you Jeff for staying to collect the data. Xue by far had the craziest deck choice and no one really expected such a "janky" deck to do so well.

Funny story of the day.

Some Kid sits across from Tommy Kolowith round 1.  Tommy asks "are these just for decklists or our pairing?  Cuz they did it alphabetically at Star City" so the kid asks him if he went to star city.  Tommy responds "well, I went to Rochester and Charlotte".   The kid asks how he did... "Well I won rochester.." in the least cocky arrogant tone ever, which made it even MORE arrogant.  Then t ommy crushes him in the SS mirror.

------------------------

AK Bob Tendrils was a BAD call, but I forgot my 2nd deck in Milwaukee, and couldn't Audible to Workshop Aggro in time.

I'm sorry that I couldn't make it, because I've heard that it was a great day from many of you.  I'll return to Minnesota soon.

The tournament ended up being a great success with more people showing up than at star city Charlotte. Its rather funny to walk into a tourney though and realize that SS seems to be everywhere, but that seems to be the case at a lot of places recently. Four members of ICBM decided to run the SS at this event and 3 of us took the deck into the top 8 which once again just showed how strong the deck truly is.

I was 4-1-1 on the day going into top 8 and then lost to the b/w/r mask naught played by sue. My only loss in the swiss was to my friend Chris in the SS mirror. and the one draw i had was because i was 4 dmg short of finishing off Jake (who split for first) on turn 5.

The tournament was a lot of fun and was relatively well run except for one thing. This tournament may have had the worst prize support of any tourney Ive ever seen. 5-8 only got 10 dollars in store credit, 3rd only got $25, I'm not sure what 4th got, and second got $100. Which if you look there was 57 people playing multiplied by the $20 is cost each person to get in that equals $1140. assuming that the lotus which was nice is worth $700 tops and the other prizes that were given away comes to a total of $890 this is assuming that 4th also got $25. So looking at the fact that the store I'm sure didn't pay anywhere near $700 for the lotus they still pocketed $250 of pear profit which i think would have better spent on prizes. I know most people walked out of there very disgusted with the $10 they won in a tourney that cost them $20 to enter.

Xue walked out with $25 as well... I'm glad all you guys came up to play. Hopefully we'll be able to make it out to more WI Vintage tournaments as well.

Hey there yallz. It was great seeing such a big number of peeps at the tourney. Yeah, i only got 25, but I enjoyed the tournament. I don't get to play too often so it's fun when i get to play against so many good players. Yeah, the deck I played was a b/r/w masknaugt deck... but what i call it is "the hater". I almost didnt' play it this past weekend, but my friend "gustoh" told me to play it, and i was like "I guess". It's just a deck constructed around terrible duals and extra cards I had left over. I tried the deck with blue for control and draw, but thought it was more consistant and fun as a deck that played "bad" cards. I'll post the deck later, but it was fun to play with all yallz ICBMers. It's always a good time. Kind to think of it, that's who I played against all day except for my first game.

Yeah I agree this lotus tourney was a great time.  I also agree the prize support wasn't the greatest, but the tournament ran very smoothly and was a lot of fun.  If Monster's Den decides to have another one of these I'm sure ICBM will make the trip again.

It puts a HUGE smile on my face to see someone pwn ass with Madness, when half the people on these boards dismissed it. Rock on.

On a more related subject, to Jake: Why did you not maindeck Pyrostatic Pillar? Would you in the future, or would you just accept combo as a loss?

Now that I think about it, I never did play any combo decks. I suppose that was a large contributing factor for making it as far as I did. About Pyrostatic Pillar though, that card was the bomb every time I played it. I sided both of them in for more than half of my rounds and I kept asking myself why it wasn't maindecked.

It was definitely my MVP out of the board, even if I only had two of them. I always seemed to draw them.

Fun deck.
