Wrath Of Satan

{1} {B} {R} {U}
Sorcery
Destroy all nonland permanents target player controls. that player may draw cards equal to the number of permanents destroyed in this way.

Any ideas?

casting cost, colors, drawback etc?

A one-sided Wrath for 4?  Traditionally, all Wrath effects are rarely symmetrical, and those range from 5 and a turn (Nevinyrral's Disk) to 6 (Akroma's Vengeance).  This is just fairly ridiculous, especially since the color of board-clearing (White) is not present.  I understand why, but it's fundamentally doing icky things to the color pie.

I'm asking him to explain why he chose those colors, why he chose this ability, why this name. Why he expected a card that so obviously references a real-world literary character will get made (the name must change, this isn't debatable).

So does Wrath of God. But then, they made Frankenstein's Monster and put Einstein on a card back then, so yeah. Do we have the litmus test "cards Wizards would conceivably print"?

My bigger problem is that Satan doesn't wrath, he tempts.

All those cards you referenced are like 30 years old.  They absolutely do not make cards that reference modern culture anymore, even in flavor text (note old cards with quotes from real poems and books, and how that hasn't happened in many years).  If it was designed today, Wrath of God would have absolutely have a different name, but it is so old that its not like they can change it.  I'm with Matt, why those colors, why this ability, you need a new name, and a reason to even design something this overpowering.

Yeah god is the one who gets angry all the time, he floods the planet and smites stuff, and gets all pissy when people don't do what he wants.

Satan just tempts you to chase women and drink beer.

Plus they already did a kind of "wrath of Satan" with the card Hellfire from legends.

Please recomprehend my post. "But then" is a caveat, not support. Anyways; I agree it should have a different name, only not as strongly as everyone else.

They still use real world quotes in the core set.

Wrath of God is general. Which god, or which God? They didn't make Wrath of Yahweh or Wrath of Zeus.

They DID make Bazaar of Baghdad but again that was a different time.

2 {R}{B}
Sorcery
Destroy all nonland permanents you control, you may draw cards equal to the number of permanents destroyed in this way.

Think Black, think self-sacrifice for gain. Red is also into that.

Wrath of God is general. Which god, or which God? They didn't make Wrath of Yahweh or Wrath of Zeus.

But they definetly SHOULD make "Wrath of zeus"! Razz

as for this card, it reminds me abit about Akroma's vengeance, which is about as white as a card get. This card is just plain wrong!

Maybe something like:
6BBRR
Sorcery
Destroy all creatures and artifacts target player controls.

Thats more like plaguewind and shatterstorm.

White destroys all creatures, all lands, and it has a lot of spells against enchantments.

Red always has non enchantment boardcleaners.

Green has artifact and enchantment destruction, and black has creatures.

What about;

Wrath of Gaea
{3} {G} {B}
Sorcery

Each player chooses a number, then destroy all nonland permanents those players control, except permanents with the converted casting cost equal to that number. Permanents destroyed cant regenerate.

'' This is not a good day to be alive''

What about this?
More balanced?
What about the wording?

This is a bad Reprocess, although it can use enchantments.

I sort of like the original card, which gives a big tempo boost, but without any card advantage.

GB is a color pair of board clearing, but they do it based on size.  This is sort of backwards from the way BG normally works (see Pernicious Deed, Punishment).  I have to say that I think this version is a little arbitrary and confusing the way it's worded.  Besides, you're basically saying "Clear the board except my finisher."  Normally we make players work to do that (Obliterate + March + Indestructibles, Akroma's Vengeance in Slide)
