Gencon is only a week away.  Who is going?  Who is staying with who?  Anybody have room?  And, who is still sadly on the fence??? I know that Me, Brassman, etc. are still considering going if we can find a hotel.

Also, any predictions? What wins Legacy/Vintage? Etc.

Count me in.  I look forward to meeting in person the friendly people who have revived my outlook on playing the game again.  It will be memorable for me even if I do go 0-3 and scrub out like a champ Smile

I'm going and I'm proud to be hosting Ray Robillard in my room!  He doesn't even have to pay for his room after what he is doing for my teammates!

I'm driving down with a couple friends and staying in a tent at a campground in blistering heat. w00t! I'm hoping to play a lot of Legacy and get in some signatures from a few artists. If anyone else from the Flint/Detroit area of Michigan still neds a ride down there, we're leaving Wednesday afternoon and coming back on Sunday night. More people to share the cost of gas would be awesome, my Chrysler has a lot of room.

If I could afford to fly, and afford to take the time off from work, I'd consider going.

Though my opinion is still the same--  so much money for not much prize.

Best of luck to those going, especially Roland--  Your karma is through the roof, despite winning last year.

I will in fact be at Gencon.

Specifically, I will be flying in Wednesday night and am looking for someone in town already to chill with.  Ask just about anyone in Type 1...I'm a blast to chill with.

Staying with the very hospitable Meandeckers Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.  Steve's offer is very nice, but I insist on putting in my share.

Also, I will be staying over Sunday night with my flight flying out Monday morning....again...looking for anyone up for hanging out Sunday evening.

In between, damn, there will be plenty to do and I hope to mix magic with much friendly gathering including eating food(which I'm quite talented at) and anything else fun.  I hope to hang with as many type 1 players as I can in one weekend.

I sadly will not be going to Gencon, even though it's only about 3 hours away.  I don't have enough proxies to compete--I need 11 more than they're offering.

Oh shit bitches.  It's on like Donkey Kong.  The Colorado Crew will be representing in semi-full force, with only Jim and Bob staying behind.  Myself and Travis (Doubledrain) will be leaving Denver Monday night to tackle the thousand mile drive.

Ray, if we can find a place to crash Wednesday night, maybe we will head into Indy early.  The car is always an option I suppose.  What time are you getting to Indy?

@ Lou and rleidle

I'm down for hanging with both of you guys...I land in Indy at 8:30, so anytime after that is cool.  If you know where you will be, you could let me know....also my cell is 860-605-3730, so you could ring that.  If you want to share your cell so I can catch you guys, shoot me a pm...and we'll make some hanging plans.

Looks like me and Travis Laplante will be making the tournement if I can find travis 4 moxes (all accept a mox jet). SOO... Anybody have 4 extra moxes that he could possibly barrow for the main event??? He is willing to pay for a day long loan on the cards. If he can find someone to help us out we will be there... If not... well sucks to be us!

I will unfortunately not be able to go because of recent car repairs. Good luck to everyone who goes. I'm sure it'll be a great time.

5PM Thursday: August 10th – Legacy Championship Prelim
$6 Swiss rounds based on attendance with a top-8 single elimination.
First Place wins a 2 round bye at the 2006 Legacy Championship.

1PM Thursday: August 10th – Vintage Championship
$6 Straight Swiss rounds based on attendance. No single elimination.

I will definately play in at least one of these.

I might go to GenCon.  If I bring my girlfriend I'm probably not going to play in the event.

Even if I don't bring her I still might not play.  Vintage worlds is far and away the worst major tournament of the year.  There are like ten good players to a bunch of thirtysomethings with powered Shop aggro decks.

Not to mention the traditionally poor judging staff and absurdly high cost for making the most of a fairly subpar weekend when it comes to prize support.

None of my opinions haven't been said before, so I'll shut up now, but that would be the reason I've made no plans to attend this year.

Gencon to me is less about the Vintage Champs and [edit] MORE [/edit] about all the fun stuff.  Here is just some of the non-competitive stuff I will be doing.

Type 4 with my completely altered stack with anyone who wants in.
Mystery Spatuala Theater-Old Fantastic Four Movie
GenCon Film Festival
Guilliotine Tournament
Who's Line is it Anyway Seminar
Lunch Money Tournament
Visitng TONS of magic artists for sigs
We love KATMARI Damaci Tournameny
Fluxx Tournament

If those are less important, whats the important part? =]

Also, I swear I've played all but one of those games, and cannot believe there are tournaments for any of them.

Fluxx is possibly the greatest game ever invented.  It's the perfect way to spend time between magic rounds.
