mana source(21):
4 Badlands
4 Blood crypt
5 Mountain
5 Swamp
1 Mox ruby
1 Mox jet
1 Black Lotus

rituals(8):
4 dark ritual
4 rite of flame

tutors/draw(4):
1 imperial seal
1 vampiric tutor
1 demonic tutor
1 wheel of fortune

creatures(15):
4 avatar of discord
3 hidden horror
3 slith firewalker
4 anger

other(13):
4 lightning bolt
4 riot spikes
4 duress
1 yawgmoth's will

sideboard(15):
4 filth
4 red elemental blast
3 artifact blast
4 null rod

Avatar of discord: The main win condition of this deck. It is conveniantly costed at three mana, the same cost as Black lotus and Dark ritual (5+ chances of getting it out 1st turn). Use its drawback to help you by discarding anger (best choice), rite of flame ( to make another rite of flame produce 3), or filth (sideboard it in if opponent is playing black duals or swamps).

tutors/ wheel: helps you get what ever you need

yawgmoth's will: Since I have 8 ways of discarding cards from my hand, plus my spells come out quicker then normal, this lets me play them again which is very useful.

Duress: The best control card in the deck.

Lightning Bolt: To finish off my opponent or to get rid of a pesky creature.

Riot spikes: Stacks as a way to speed up the win or to get rid of a 1/1 creature (cough* welder* cough*).

Hidden Horror: a second option to avatar of discord. it still costs 3 mana so you can play it on turn 1 with rituals or the lotus. this card doesnt have flying and it has 1 less power but you only have to discard 1 card which helps if yo want to hold onto the cards in your hand.

Anger: Discard with avatar or horror to give all creatures haste.

Filth: Discard with avatar or horror to give all creatures swampwalk.

Slith Firewalker: can play turn one with rite.

Red elemental blast: A cheap way to stop blue.

Artifact Blast: A cheap way to get rid of a pesky artifact.

Null rod: A sideboard necessity, shuts down artifact decks, or decks that rely on artifacts.

This deck dumps its hand onto the field/ graveyard mostly on turn 2/3. Bring avatar out on turn 1 most of the time and discard anger so you can swing for 5 on the first turn.

Ok I played this deck on MWS, and i noticed two things that I should do to it: add more control, and tweak the sideboard. The only problem is that I dont know wat to add. Please post suggestions.

Step 1) Cut four basics for four fetches.  They'll thin out your deck and optimize draws.

Step 2) Cut the slow tutors.  Almost everything that you have is business, so slowing yourself down is the suck.

Step 3) Cut Rite of Flame and even think about cutting Dark Ritual.  In a two color deck that's built like yours, they lose a lot of their value.

Step 4) Cut Hidden Horror for Phyrexian Negator.  It's a much, much better fattie.

Step 5) Cut Anger and Slith Firewalker for good cards like Bob (drawing cards is for the win!) and something else (perhaps Hippie?).

Step 6) Cut Riot Spikes for something better, like Chain Lightning.  In my humble opinion, the only good auras ever printed are Rancor and Curiosity.

Portal has a Hidden Horror clone called Mercenary Knight.
I don't know how far you're willing to stray from the theme in order to make this a good deck (remove 60 cards, add Pitch Long), but I'd definitely cut Rite of Flame and Riot Spikes, even within the theme there are much better cards you could be using.

(remove 60 cards, add Pitch Long)

That was my first thought.  The problem in this forum seems to be that people are not only posting decks to be improved, they are posting decks like this, which is simply not competitive in modern Vintage.

Wastelands and a Strip Mine would be a nifty addition. I would also consider Grim Lavamancer as a good choice, it is basically a shock on a dork. Utility creatures are going to better then a guy who will make you pitch three cards then get bounced. Slithfirewalker is junk, especially in a deck with Dark Ritual. You will end up with many mana conflicts this way.

Implacable hit most of the nails on the head for you...

The main thing to prevent a deck like this from stalling is some kinda draw...a 5/3 is cool, but if you dump your hand turn one (Land, Dark Rit, Avatar, card, card) and it gets FOW'ed, STP'd, or bounced next turn, as Pvt. Hudson said in Aliens, "Game over man!"  Dark Confidant can help with the draw.

Can you fit Grim Lavamancer in there?  It would seem to have a good synergy with the Avatar: he eats her droppings and can take out your opponent's weenies.

A Mox Monkey or Shattering Spree might not hurt either...

I've been working on BR type decks as a side project for a few months now;
trying to make it Vintage worthy.

Looking at your deck, I thought to myself, why not use necro-cards?
Reanimate and Unearth seem somewhat strong?
Then you'd probably want Entomb and/or a Buried Alive or two....

The unfortunate problem I keep running into for BR is to make it really Vintage-viable I always want to run a lot of hate. (more than just Duress, but also things like Hymn - which you can't really run with Rite of Flame, Pyrostatic Pillar, Pox, Cabal Therapy, Sinkhole, Strip Mine, Wasteland... the list goes on)
Adding all this hate to slow your opponent down really limits what you can put in the deck.
I also know with my other non-blue-using decks that run red, I maindeck 2 REB and 3 pyroblast, and that's even less space for new strategies. >.<

I still haven't decided on a definate plan for BR ownage, but it's a work in progress.
I can make a deck that beats the hell out of people but any sort of disruption will probably stop you in your tracks.
