Ok, the past few months, I've been getting a new kind of spam e-mail which seems to surpassed the rolex offers, the cheap viagra and the nigerian war money scam in frequency. I'm sure you've all seen variants on the theme, which goes something like this:

Quote
Hi,

I hope I'm not writing to the wrong adress. I'm a pretty girl who's visiting your town next month. Maybe we can arrange to meet?

Kisses,

{inserd random slutty name here}

The return adress is invariably some alphanumeric code like cxx56jr@mailingiseasy.com or whatever. Now my question is, what on EARTH do they hope to achieve by mass mailing people this crap? They're not advertising anything...are they hoping that Í'm gonna show up at some abandoned wharf where they'll mug me? Or, if I mail back, will it turn out to be a "girl" who needs me to wire 300 bucks to her so that she can pay for her passport expenses / train ride / grandmother's funeral before she can come over?

You guys have any ideas?

I think they are just trying to lure you into replaying and will then bombard you with the usual porn-spam, in the hopes that you subscribe to one of their sites and give them money. Although the "need money for grandmother's funeral"-line could also be.

Or maybe they are really trying to hook you up with a hooker? You'll never know until you answer.

Oh right, if I reply, they can add another active e-mail addy to their database. That hadn't occurred to me. Regardless, my option were more exciting Wink

If she said she played Magic she might get some response from TMDers.........

She hasn't found Slovakia yet. Most of my junk mails are "Buy these shares".

Funny. Most of mine are for Slovak mail-order brides.

Slovak women >> US women  (unless you compare by weight!)

You might want to answer one or two of though (remember, try before you buy)

Returning stuff through mail order catalogs is always such a pain though!  You have to get RMA numbers and all that crap...
