A box of Time Spiral > the rest of the prizes.
I'm sure we'll be drafting that box immediatly following this tournament.

Agreed. Time Spiral is hot. The only way the box is better than the store cerdit is if you open 4 Ancestral Visions. I believe a set to be worth more than 90 store credit. So obviously that can't happen so I perfer the store credit or sinkholes.

Starcitygames is preselling Ancestral Vision for $12.
Most stores (not sure about Pandemonium) sell boxes for over $90.
12 draft sets > 4 Sinkholes.
Anyways, none of this really matters. I hope we have a good turnout for this one, I'll be there for sure.

That better be the only sinkholes they have, cause if not I am going to take the $90, buy 4 sinkholes AND something else. They are worth less than $90. The box would be cool because it is also worth more than $90. But, ok. Hope everyone is going to enjoy one last tournament without TS.

What you talkin' bout willis. Legacy is going to be affected as well. I know a few decks that are getting nice boosts from some time spiral cards. But back to spence, it is looking like we have got possibly all of C.H.U.M and that would make 5 of us. We may be aquiring a new member soon and he might tag along as well. So by predict you mean you and rich right? Lol. Just kidding, see you guys there.

I will be back home that weekend, so I will have car (no abducting necessary). However, I might be doing family stuff or other things, so I might not make it.
I'd say there's a 60%/40% will/won't make it. We'll see.

I can make it. My testing buddy pulled out so I didn't think I could make it, but my uncle is riding up so he can play at the Detroit casino. Not having to pay for gas is almost as good as my turn 1 Legacy kills, I hear...

Yeah, I put myself at third only because I was higher in the standings going into the Top 8. I don't really know how they actually determine it, though. And yeah, mad props to everyone who came. Coming up from Columbus was definitely worth it.

I clearly labled the Mise and put the technical slot (3rd-4th) as opposed to actual placing. I did not deny Caboose his 3rd place finish even though looking back it does sound like it.. Just don't blaim me for the top8, that was something I did not expect.

Short report-ish post.
List-
4 Ramosian Sergeant 4 Mother of Runes 2 Isamaru, Hound of Konda 4 Meddling Mage 4 Dark Confidant 4 Whipcorder 3 Silver Knight 3 True Believer
4 Vindicate 3 Umezawa's Jitte
4 Aether Vial 3 Tithe
4 Flooded Strand 2 Windswept Heath 4 Scrubland 2 Tundra 4 Wasteland 2 Guru Plains
Sideboard: 4 Swords to Plowshares 4 Chalice of the Void 3 Abolish 2 Armageddon 1 Silver Knight 1 True Beleiver
There's not enough mana, the Wastelands are really greedy, there aren't Swords to Plowshares in the maindeck, blah blah, this deck is terrible. I threw it together, hoping to have fun, and it ended up being really good against the decks I played against.
Round 1: Squirrels (Sometimes in the first rounds of tournaments a player might play against an inexperienced, casual, non-tournament player. I guess.)
Game 1: He summons 2 Birds of Paradise and 2 Llanowar Elves with one Forest. He then summons many Squirrels. My Sergeant produces many Rebels that tap his larger Squirrels. He puts Squirrel Nest onto his only Forest, and I finally decide to Vindicate it. Game 2: Ramosian Sergeant makes a large mob of Rebels, and two Swords to Plowshares remove his better Squirrels.
Round 2: UGW Threshold
Phil and I take an ID and hit up the food store.
Round 3: UGR Threshold
Game 1: He starts off with some cantripping, then two blind Predicts that both miss. Meanwhile, my creatures go to work against his life total. Mother of Runes makes his action spells not work. Game 2: He produces a Forest and a Mountain (both from Wooded Foothills,) but my three Wastelands kill his blue sources while Aether Vial makes my creatures. He kills Dark Confidant with Fire after my Mage named Lightning Bolt, Mage and Silver Knight bash well enough.
Round 4: Ill-Gotten Gains/Tendrils (Paried against another teamate. Oh well. This time it's a Brian Demars.)
Game 1: I mulligan into three lands, two 1/1s, and a Jitte. It accumulates 8 counters, but my clock is way too slow, and he is able to build enough storm to Tendrils for the needed 36 points. Game 2: I mulligan again, into a Vial-Dark Confidant hand, but no active disruption. Before Confidant gets me a card, his hand produces a kill on his second turn.
Round 5: UWB Fish
Game 1: I mulligan. My turn one Isamaru meets Force of Will, instead of the expected Daze. This allows both Ramosian Sergeant and Mother of Runes to resolve. I'm pretty sure I won this game with Jitte, but it may have been with a thousand Whipcorders. Game 2: He mulligans, I think. He Duresses me, takes Vindicate or Tithe or something. I topdeck Aether Vial, obv. I remove one of his guys with Swords to Plowshares, then play a some of my own. My board is Dark Confidant and Whipcorder. He plays Engineered Plague, and names Humans. I draw another Confidant, then a Vindicate to kill the Plague so Confidant can be played. He removes it and plays his Confidant. I Swords to Plowshares it and keep bashing with Whipcorder. I draw another creature and bash for enough to win.
Top 8:
I think it looked like..
Brian Demars (Tendrils) vs. Spencer (UWB Fish) Me (terrible white weenie deck) vs. Phil Cape (UGW Threshold) Vivek Soi (UGW Threshold) vs. KC (UGW Threshold) * Kyle (UGW Threshold) vs. Salvagers-Gamekeeper combo *
* : Not sure about these. I could be wrong.
Quarterfinals: UGW Threshold
Game 1: I win a die roll! My turn 1 Sergeant meets a Disrupting Shoal + Mental Note (Phil played one of these, he said it was insane.) I end up with a ton of guys, but he kills all of my 2s with Engineered Explosives, leaving Isamaru. I topdeck Dark Confidant. He plays a Goose or something. Next turn, Confidant reveals Jitte, draw for turn is.. Jitte. How lucky. First one meets a Counterspell. Second one resolves, I play my sixth land and trade my 2/2 for two Jitte counters (Goose blocked.) He plays a Pithing Needle, I remove all but one counter to gain life, since Vindicate is in my hand, but he might have Force of Will. It was a sloppy play on my part, I'm sure I did it wrong. But, he does not have a counterspell, so Vindicate takes down the Needle and Jitte wins. Game 2: My opening hand is a land, a Vial, and 5 spells (1 Jitte, 1 Tithe, 3 guys.) I greedily keep it. My turn 1 Vial doesn't get Dazed, Force of Willed, or Disrupting Shoaled, and my Tithe also resolves. I produce a large group of creatures, including a Meddling Mage naming Swords to Plowshares. He plays a Mystic Enforcer, I Vindicate it**. I resolve Jitte again, which prevents him from racing me, Mother of Runes pushes the Jitte carrier through to win it.
**: We both missed this in the game. After the game, Phil says, "Everything went downhill when you killed my Enforcer. Hey, wait, how did you kill it again?" So, I guess I accidentally cheated.
The top 4 is:
Me (stupid white weenie deck) vs. Spencer (UWB Fish) Vivek (UGW Threshold) vs. Kyle (UBW Threshold)
Semifinals:
Game 1: I keep a mana light hand, and stumble about to make plays. He plays Jotun Grunt on turn 2, which will probably die, but might hirt me a lot before it does. I get a Tithe through, but he Wastelands and Vindicates many of my lands. In the early turns, I'm stuck on 2 lands, and he Dazes three of my 2/2s. I chump his Grunt with my Sergeant (which probably won't activate on one land, and if I ever get there, the other Sergeant in my hand can do it.) His Grunt dies after bashing me to 13 or so. His remaining crew is a Mother of Runes and a Voidmage Prodigy. I eventually draw a Tithe, but he keeps killing my lands. At this point all 4 Scrublands are in the graveyard, and my last Tithe left zero Plains in the deck. A spectating Phil Cape says, "Nice fetchlands." Sure enough, there are 6 remaining in my deck. I guess my mana base is terrible. Anyways, I manage to get some lands to stick long enough to activate my Sergeant once. He kills yet another land, leaving me at 2. I cast more 2/2s which forces his Voidmage to stop hitting me (I'm at 5, but if he attacks I can attack back for lethal.) I cast Umezawa's Jitte, which he counters with the Voidmage, allowing me to attack for lethal.
Game 2: He mulligans to 5 and we play a much less eventful game than the first one. I kill his mana, Jitte his Jitte, then play another Jitte.
Finals: Vivek and I prize split.
Props: -RIW Hobbies, for being the best store ever. -Pandemonium, for hosting the tournament. -Dave, for judging. -The mcdonalds monopoly game pieces I found on a table, for suppying me with some free food. -My deck, for having good Threshold/Fish matchups. Everybody played Threshold.. -Everybody that played in the tournament.
Slops: -Demars, for having the nuts (JK.) -Me, for my accidental cheats (Mystic Enforcer > Vindicate.)

Wow...Everyone was playing Threshold O_o
What was the rest of the field like?
And the Kyle in the top 8, was that Kyle Goodman?
I like the Black splash in your WW/u deck, which looks pretty similar to the one you won with a few tournaments ago. I've been telling people, Chalice of the Void is the hotness. I like how you ran 4 Vindicate and 0 Swords to Plowshares for svg Mage namings. Good stuff.
Spencer told me how he made it into Top 8 with like 7 points, in a 5-round tournament. And I must say, that's some messed up stuff.
