I have been perusing TMD since (uh...) 2002? but only started posting in 2003, AND 2004 WITH THE ADVENT OF 5TH Dawn (Salvagers! Trinket Mages! Whoot!) Anyways, out of the Vintage World, I was one of the first to not just post/theoretize about Salvager decks (I called my build SlapJack!), but took it to tournies and posted results! First! (Luckily, I did well early on in a Sanctioned No-Proxy Environment. Times is now 10 Proxy in Unsanctioned American Vintage...but I had P7 and Salvagers were broken to me.) I post this here in Magic Community for 87 reasons, but ONE of them are this: 1) Of visitors of TMD, who posted as newbies, went to tournies, tried/netdecked decks, posted more, played more, tested more, or just followed the Global Discourse of TMD for the past 4 years (my timeline at least), what is your favorite post/thread/event? Only full members can post on this thread, and this is a chance for Full Members to voice their stuff. My post is this, by me: http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=18887.0 for it being my attempt to make Salvagers a topic of discussion. I know that the Canadians have made, fairly independently, their vision of BomberMan (No Pyrite, no C.Wish, no Tinker/Collossus, 10 proxies, etc) and it is a forced to be reckoned with (see this weeks tourney reports!) despite the hate that Chalice, Null Rod, 9 spells plus Tendrils such hate can deal out. Every time I see BomberMan pwn mofo's I get excited because I believe it was at least as good as PsychaTog or Tinker.dec. Only years later did I see this happen. Many posters on this original thread are now Full Members on topics in the "Newbie" forum, now "Vintage Improvement Forum". Posted for your enjoyment/dissection! (end note: my first tourney report of winning a mox with Salvagers (Oath Salvagers) is really my favorite, as is Eudemonia's last P9 report, which I placed 9th, but it had pics! awesome! But what is yours? PTW can't find his (SCGtrashtalking) but there are others...)

Obviously the Saucemaster/PTW thread.
I would link to it, but as it was technically a flame war, it did eventually get deleted, and that was back when we didn't have a way to save deleted threads.

Like, is there really anything that can even compete with this thread? I guess the Sui Black forum was pretty sweet while it lasted.

I remember way back when a basic user started a thread flaming Zherbus, then zherbattleship responded with a hilarious group flaming thread that had jokes and pictures. Anyone have THAT thread?

Also, stories of the macaroni and cheese eating contests between Bushman and...Shane maybe (someone's gonna have to help with this one)?

I consider the sadly deleted Drop of Honey thread amongst my finest work. Never before have squirrels, fish and stealth bombers been used to answer a rules question and I doubt they ever will, not that people will ever stop asking about Drop and Enchantress.
I really used to look forward to Rakso's stuff, I admit it.

Yes, indeedy. Legend made Smemmen look humble in comparison. He was an innovator though, possibly the first to master the skill of naming a deck after himself with the famed Legend Blue, back in the days when no-one else was playing lots of Blue in Type I, closely followed by Legend Black, in the days before you thanked opponents for saving you the trouble of filling up your graveyard. Rumours that Legend then turned his attentions to perfecting a Vintage-dominating deck called Legend Green and consequently has not been heard of since are probably unfounded.

I found my fights with VGB about properly building Long before it was called Long were amusing, especially since I was clearly in the wrong.
Anything with Azheri/Oscar "Cinnamon Buns" Tan was also hilarious.

I mean, that was after we broke their faces and ate the best cake in the HISTORY OF MANKIND. The rest of you wankers wish you were cool enough to get a professionally baked cake screaming how awful we are... and then we wish that we were awesome enough to eat such a delicious and well-earned cake after defeating everyone in battle :/.
I can remember the ancient, ancient days of yore - fighting it out on BDominia about the dumbest things, including whether or not to run Land Grant in n-land Stompy (the answer was actually yes since it shipped to everything in the deck), a certain Menendian playing Masticore and Moat in the same Keeper deck, and JPMeyer running Elemental Augury.

that or a compilation of the Legend insults you deserve to be horribly maimed by a horde of agitated girl scouts brandishing sharpened lollipops While it predates TMD, I always liked "I hope that you are attacked by a swarm of killer bees, which also attack everyone that tries to rescue you so that all of you are so disfigured that you cannot live a normal life again."

Playing against Kevin Cron at GenCon '04.
I was playing Keeper against his Trinistax.
I was on the play
Turn 1:
me: Land, Ruby, Lotus, go him: Shop, Sol Ring, Smokestack go
Turn two
Me Island, sol ring go him: counter on stax, Mox, SHop, Hardcast Sundering Titan.
Resolves? Yup its in Blow up both of your lands hold on, I have responses with the comes into play ability on the stack. ok Stifle. ok. EOT, Rack and Ruin targeting Sol ring and smokestack ok
Turn three
Ancestral Recall myself. Sac Lotus for black. Yawgmoths Will. Recall, Rack and Ruin targeting Sundering Titan and his mox. Stifle the leaves play ability. GG
That was one of the dumbest games I've ever played.

But yeah, meeting people has definitely been the best part of TMD, and Vintage in general. Especially European people.
