Hey all, I've sold off the majority of my collection but am still playing with proxies versus friends!!! However, as we play with a wide range of decks I am trying to make all mine as competetive as possible.
The deck I'm currently trying is a UW Stax deck. I found that as white has good stalling cards and blue is home to some of the most broken cards in existance, these two colors have a lot to offer to Stax. So, I decided to build a deck on the basic ideas of Stax decks but using blue and white to further reinforce them. Anyways, here's what I'm currently running:
Mana Base1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Sol Ring
4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Tundra
3 Flooded Strand
1 Strip Mine
4 Wasteland
Critters1 Karn, Silver Golem
1 Triskelion
1 Platinum Angel
2 Duplicant
Draw/Tutor1 Ancestral Recall
1 Frantic Search
1 Tinker
1 Enlightened Tutor
Stax Parts4 Tangle Wire
3 Sphere of Resistance
1 Trinisphere
Stallers4 Abeyance
2 Orim's Chant
1 In the Eye of Chaos
Board Control (Obviously Triskelion and Duplicant fit here)1 Moat
1 Equipoise
1 Balance
3 Swords to Plowshares
Random Usefulness1 Time Walk
3 Crucible of Worlds
2 Seal of Cleansing
Well that's the deck; let me now explain the cards.
Karn - Gorilla Shaman on steroids!!! Kills moxen AND gives me beaters.
Platinum Angel - Just plain awesome. Not essential, but it does give me a little extra time if things go bad.
Frantic Search - In all my testing with Stax I've always found I have a card or two in my hand that I really don't want; this pretty much converts them into two fresh cards for free. Plus, if you have a Mishra's Workshop or Tolarian Academy out you can generate quite a lot of mana.
Abeyance - Stops permission spells and hurts storm based combo decks a lot. Also, it cantrips.
Orim's Chant - Same applications as Abeyance but it stops creatures as well. I've found Abeyance and Chant often work like additional Time Walks.
In the Eye of Chaos - Kills permission spells.
Moat - Handy protection against creatures, it's probably going to be one of the first things to go though.
Equipoise - I don't run a lot of creatures, so this is pretty much complete and total creature removal for me.
Well I think that's all I need to explain. If I've missed any that you would like an explanation on, though, just go ahead and say so!

My main concern about the deck is that I'm running to much creature removal, but I thought it may be best to put the deck in front of you guys before making any drastic changes. Also, would Brainstorm be worth adding? It's something I've considered, but Stax just has so many broken cards that I'm not sure I need the card fixing.
Anyways, that's it. Any thoughts or comments? Feedback would be much appreciated guys!! Thanks in advance for your help!!
