I was going to come until I found out it wasn't sanctioned.  Alan said they would get a GPT for Columbus in Chicago and in Indiana, so I look forward to those.  Just not worth the drive to *me* if not sanctioned.  Other things I can do.  I am interested in see what the metagame looked like and what did well. Please post!

Did Vroman just scoop to Owen?  I didn't think there was any way Vroman could have lost to Goblins.

the goblin matchup is favorable, but far from guaranteed. goblins can rebuild with a quickness after wraths. if they have vial they are good to go, even against devastator.
game 2, I was stuck on 3 land for 3 turns, waiting to cast damnation, and ended up having to devastate@2 to survive, and continued to not draw land/loam.
game 3 he had pyropillar+vial and I lost the damage race. this is important bc earlier in the tournament I beat goblins that had pyropillar w no vial, and I won the damage race w grunt.
lesson: if you are playing goblins vs loam, dont cast pyropillar unless you have vial.

How do Goblins with a green splash beat TES?  TES is designed to just beat the goblin player before even lacky comes online.  Did goblins have some tech in sb for the matchup?

I love the fact that Goblins won this.  I have felt and still feel that Goblins is the best deck in Legacy.  I think people grossly underestimate the raw power and resilience of the deck.  It is the closest thing to a Type 1 deck in the way that it has game vs everything.  The matches are very often determined by very small choices, such as the example of laying Pillar w/o Vial.  I find it amusing that, despite its amazing popularity, it may be the most widely misunderstood deck in the any format.  It is right up there with Dragon in terms of peoples perception of how to play vs it.

I'm going to agree with ELD here, the only deck that might come close right now is TES.

I've never seen Root maze played in Goblins side before, kind of interested to see how that worked, or if it's just a guess. Usually, I see Chalice + Pillar.

Owen didn't have Maze in his board... We were talking about it at some point during the tourny as a possiblity though.

Small correction was 25 people... I showed up late.

One game tommy mulled to 4 against Owen, and game three tommy had owen down to one life but couldnt get rid of pillar so he lost.  Basically Tommy had manabase problems against goblins that he couldnt get over.  Tes isnt that good against decks with wasteland.

Actually vroman, when I played against you, I did have vial... my mistake was playing the second pillar since it hurt me more than it hurt you.
