Before the games... Eudemonia gives us 2 free hours on computer with entry fee!!! Whoot! WoW!

That's Mono Blue Ophidian on the left, and a worthless Wasteland on the right.

Team Vacaville's Patrick Holds the highest standards for his proxies.
His Force of Will is signed AND Altared by CHRIS RUSH for a card called Force of Will from L5R! Rockin!

Austin built his Oath deck with just 3 proxies originally (Lotus, Recall Walk).
That was too few, so Team Vacaville insisted he proxy his 1 maindeck Island with a Finkel Island from the Tinker World's deck to up his count to 4. The stupid things we do to entertain ourselves.

This is what reported Meandecker Zhalfirin does to dirty Ichorid Players.

This is the "You can run, but you can't hide from my Akroma" intimidation stare by Andy G. Andy cast Ancestral 4 times in one game (not this one) using his secret Regrowth and Reclaim Tech.

Nate wont take no crap from powered Drain and Tendrils players. Underdog for the win!

Webster doing what he does best: Planning, calculating the demise of his opponent.

What's wrong with this field?

Chris Poff is thinking "You all thought I was playing STAX, didn't you? Heh. Look at that basic Island!"

The victors stand around, trying to divvy up the top 4 prizes. Fob can now see himself more on screen Smile

1 yawgmoth's will

1 empty the warrens

1 island
1 fire/ice
1 echoing truth
1 hurkyl's recall
1 rebuild
1 pyroblast
2 red elemental blast
3 pithing needle
3 massacre
1 empty the warrens

The list is basically a modified list of Scott Limoges's version of ritual gifts. The thread discussing the deck can be found here.

The prize structure was actually:

1st: choice of unlimited pearl (ex+), $200 cash, $300 credit
2nd: choice of $100 cash, $150 credit
3rd-4th: $60 credit
5th-8th: $40 credit

$25 entry, 32 participants.

Not playing t1 for 8 months sucks. The gears needed some oil.

Great deck,Im going to play the same next weekend, why dont you play LED??

I needed a slot for a maindeck empty the warrens and didn't want to run 61 cards. Despite what's been discussed about LED I felt it was one of the weaker cards in the deck. LED requires you to already have mana to go off which isn't necessarily the case a lot of the time. If you happen to have the prerequisite mana and LED, then it leads to more explosive turns but I didn't feel that it was worth it. I wanted a second win condition in the main. The warrens was good when I needed it.

Hey jeff, nice report...

several of your links are broken for the you tube stuff, however people can still get to them if they want cause youtube links them for you on their site...

Wish I could have been there, but babysitting issues make card playing rough...ill try my best to show up eventually to one or two this year...beware!

I played The Guilded Claw.

Round 1: Junior in Mirror Match.

Game 1: I see Triskelions and he doesn't
Game 2: I see Triskelions and he doesn't

Sure I made some plays in there, but that is what it came down to.

Round 2: Austin Martinez with Oath
ID as he is on Team Vacaville and we are both winning so far.

Round 3: Richard Luna with UB GrimLong with maindeck Badlands.
Game 1: I lose die roll and fail to get a mainphase (my hand  had 2 Chalices and a Shop in it.)
Game 2: I tinker for Titan turn 2, taking out his Island.  3 turns later I win.
Game 3: He plays land, Mox, Mana Crypt,  Lotus. I play Shop Sphere of Resistance, burn for 1. He plays EOT Rebuild, replays everything, Tinker's for Jar and wins off Jar. Sigh.

Round 4: Marco with Staxless Stax (more or less a mirror match).
I win 2-1, but always felt like I was losing, until I somehow got rid of his first turn Welders.  Game 1 I think he had Ruby Welder Shop Crucible, followed by topdeck Strip Mine. Ugly, but I won overall, and they were tense games.  I had to put on my best game face.  Brett Allen sat beside my (Hiryu) and saw just how close/swingy those games were.  I don't know how I pulled them off.

Round 5: Eirik Aune Gifts w/Warrens and Tendrils and Scrolls
Game 1 takes about 35 fminutes.  He Willed up a non-lethal tendrils when I was still at 20 (putting me to 8 and him to 29) and the countered everything I did.  When I finally got some beaters on line, he got reduced to 1.  He had 4 cards in his deck left before finally getting 8 Goblin tokens.  I actually don't know if he was toying with me all game, just to force a draw during game 2, but I can't belive gifts can't beat a topdecking shop deck with no lock peices and no threats on board any earlier that 56 cards into game.  I also can't belive I survived Yawgmoth's Will and Tendrils.
We have 15 minutes for game 2.
Game 2: I beat him down with Mishra's Factory and Goblin Welder.  I THINK I was able to Tutor for a Trinisphere, play Shop/Trinisphere to strand him with freshly scrolled Ancestral Recall and 2 lands in play.  I drop lock peices and swing for 3 for enough turns.
Game 3: This game goes to time, but I manage to get Goblin Welder, Sphere of Resistance, Chalice for 1, Chalice for 2, Sphere of Resistance (countered by Chalice, Welded back in thankyouverymuch) and beat for 1 a turn.  Eventually I see crucible and on Turn 4 of extra turns, he has no field worth speaking of, hopelessly locked under the might of The Gilded Claw.
He had more points than me, and a draw would make him "maybe top 8"  "probably top 8" and me "probably not top 8".  He was shocked when I conceeded to him on turn 4 while he was locked out of the game.  Someone did that for me once and I went the distance (Thanks again Andrej!)
Eirik and all who were watching knows who really won though Wink

I piloted this beast:
The Gilded Claw

The Locks:
4 Chalice
4 Crucible
1 Trinisphere
1 Cap
1 Slaver

The Dudes:
4 Juggernaughts (I had 2 for forever, but if the Carps go up to 4, so do I)
1 Memnarch
1 Titan
1 Trike
1 Razormane Masticore
1 Dupe
1 Karn
4 Welders

The Borken:
3 Intuition
1 Jar
1 Tinker
1 Walk
1 Ancestral
1 Demonic
1 Vampiric

The Base
4 Shops
1 Academy
2 Cities
2 Gemstone Mines
4 Wastes
1 Strip
1 Factory
9 SoLoMoxCryptVault
2 Gilded Lotus
1 Darksteel Ingot

The Board:
4 Spheres of Resistance
1 Jester's Cap
1 Dupe
1 Trike
2 Seal of Cleansing
4 Leyline of the Void
2 Ghostly Prisons

props to Austin for making first Eudemonia Top 8 with his own Oath Deck (well, a tweaked Erik Brown deck)
Eudemonia for having tournies again
Ryan Reynolds for judging again and again
All 32 players for being there

Slops
None, except not having 2 minutes of real game time to finish off Eirik properly  Wink

Feature Matches are up on www.eudemonia.com/p9 for more picks and results.  I'll put lists on original thread when they are availiable.

Round 5: Eirik Aune Gifts w/Warrens and Tendrils and Scrolls
I actually don't know if he was toying with me all game, just to force a draw during game 2, but I can't belive gifts can't beat a topdecking shop deck with no lock peices and no threats on board any earlier that 56 cards into game.

He actually wasn't drawing anything except permission spells which is why he countered everything you did. He played gifts the turn he drew it.

He had more points than me, and a draw would make him "maybe top 8" and me "probably not top 8".  He was shocked when I conceeded to him on turn 4 while he was locked out of the game.

He was guaranteed top 8 with anything except for a loss since there were nine people with 9+ points and then you, Jeff, with 7; three of the tables drew, the 3-1 with low breakers played and lost, and then there was your table which would have been the last spot.

I do have to concede that he was actually dead on the board; no permanents versus chalice on zero and one, sphere of resistance, crucible + strip, and goblin welder. The only foil to your clock of goblin welder was the round clock itself. Such is life.

Thanks for the lowdown on Eirik's side. I assumed he wasn't stalling, but I couldn't image a Gifts deck with 4 cards left in library, but there it was.  I didn't conceed game 1 because he could very well die from Drain Mana Burn or a lucky Mishra's Factory.

You know what's very interesting about the Ritual Gifts decks? While people are talking about how this is the next step in Gifts development, I look at it a different way. It's actually the next evolution of TPS. Look at my TPS list from over a year ago (which was similar to a lot of other people's lists at the time, but with more bounce), and you'll notice it's strikingly similar, with the main differences being:
[minus sometimes inconsistent bombs]
-1 Timetwister
-1 Cunning Wish
-1 Tinker
-1 Memory Jar

[plus more tutoring power]
+1 Gifts Ungiven
+4 Merchant Scroll

and then with the printing of Empty the Warrens it makes tons of sense to split the win conditions to 1 Tendrils/1 EtW (whereas I was playing 2 Tendrils at the time), and being able to splash for Recoup (some TPS were splashing for Recoup and Wheel of Fortune already anyway).

In my testing of the deck I noted:
Quote from: JACO
I’ve always thought TPS was a great deck, but the addition of Gifts Ungiven to this deck really pushes it over the top, in my opinion. The build we finalize runs 2 copies, as testing shows that Windfall, Fact or Fiction, and Frantic Search are all terrible, and Time Spiral is a nice card, if you can cast it. Time Spiral, however, is NOT worth a spot over Gifts, which is amazing pretty much any time in the game.

Ritual Gifts is truly the logical extension of TPS.

Ritual Gifts is truly the logical extension of TPS.

Agreed. The TPS concept was basically "stable combo". IT was a TPS variant, and you can say that Pitch Long leans slightly more towards TPS than Grim Long. I think Ritual Gifts is awesome because it maintains the stability of TPS while improving its consistency - instead of crossing your fingers with a Desire or Twister, you're winning every game with a Gifts for everything you need. Meanwhile, if you so choose, you can use Necro and Bargain, which unlike Desire or Draw7s, are almost guaranteed wins.

More updates to the YouTube interviews and pics section.

My camera only has 11 minutes of film time, so I can't always be there for those insane plays.

That and hovering over someone's board for 2+ minutes will probably not be welcome by the players. (or maybe they wouldn't mind. Who knows.). I try to be as unobtrusive with my pics as possible.  Actually, I just try to get crowd scenes and gamestates that lend themselves to funny captions  Very Happy

Eudemonia say they still have lists, but it will still take a few days to get em up.  Staff issues, etc.

It should be noted that its Zac Carlow not Vac Carlow in the top 8...

it should also be noted how old that list is and the fact that he won a tourney with it almost exactly a year ago as well, heh..

Eric Campusano's list has 59 cards while his sideboard has 16...

Louis and David played exactly the same list?

I just copy and pasted from Eudemonia's site. I'll look into it.

It is quite possible that Luis and David played identical  lists.
