I was thinking today about how many people prefer Asian cards to English ones when pimping out decks and this got me wondering... where can someone actually get Asian booster boxes in the states? I have yet to see an online store carry any unfortunately. I'd much prefer buying Asian boxes instead of English ones. And if someone knows where to find them, are they generally the same price? If not what's the price difference.

Near as I can tell, Asian Boxes/boosters are availiable in the US (say, through Eudemonia in Berkely, CA), and are (if I recall) slightly cheaper than US counterparts.
The thing is, for Vintage decks in particular, a Box might yeild at best 5-10 cards that are playable in T1, and of those, maybe Foil Versions are only desirable (competing with English Foil versions).

There are also lots of asian-based ebay sellers that specialize in procuring asian foils. Beijing is the most common location for these sellers, even for japanese cards. The vast majority of my asian foils came from Beijing, aside from like, the brainstorms. Those came from a guy right here on TMD (canadian based seller, I believe his nick started with an R but it was a long time ago that I got them and I haven't seen him active in a while)

It may be worth emailing SCG about it. I think they have random Asian boxes every now and then, and they might be able to order them for you.

As far as I know, local US stores used to be able to order them same as they ordered normal cases until like 3 (maybe 4) years ago. I know my local store used to get at least a few cases in Jap every new release, but sometime after mirrodin they were told they couldn't anymore.
I'm surprised that SCG and So.Cal can still get them.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I think it had to do with people in say, Slovenia, being able to buy boxes far cheaper here and have them internationally shipped from big distributors like SCG than buy local. WOTC prohibited international shipping of product like that. I wonder if it extends to foreign boxes.

My local store usually gets 1 box each of Russian and Japanese new sets, and they've been getting them for the past few years. The only thing I've heard about how they get them is that they can only order 1 box through their normal distribution channel. They do charge a bit more for the packs, though. Actually, I'll be leaving in a few minutes to go draft Japanese TS block. It's pretty awesome when people don't know what the cards do. We always say "If you don't recognize the picture, it's probably a terrible card."
If nothing else, you can probably order Japanese boosters through Japanese ebay. Or try someone like Michael French on mtgtraders who specializes in Asian cards, maybe he can broker a deal for you.

I'm mostly a lurker here...but when someone mention my name.. I want to join in..
When you figure in shipping..Japanese boxes with are more expensive here in Japan than what you might be able to find in the States on ebay. Granted it might take 3 or 4 months for a new expansion to make it on to ebay, if you don't have patience I could help you out.
In Japan.. there is no ebay... people use Yahoo Auctions. You must be able to read and write Japanese to be a member and 99% of the sellers don't ship overseas.
Do you think there will be a demand for Japanese BB 10th?

Maybe not too much because wizards will make it BB in English too, but I personally would rather buy a case of Japanese sets than English ones.

Hey Michael, I sent you a PM.
I think that Japanese BB 10th will have some demand, at least for the reprinted vintage and legacy playables. I havent looked at what is tenth yet, but I would definitely prefer black bordered japanese cards over their english counterpart.
