Still, to come in 2nd and have 5% or more on everyone non-Erwin is great. Like Steve was the only one close. O-o

I'd say that marks a great coming together of our community.

Unfortunately, I got the top 2 in the correct order.  But the fact that Steve got almost 20% of the vote is amazing.

I was pulling for your Steve.  (I voted for you too, obv).

While the outcome is disappointing, I must say that the vintage/legacy community did go out to the polls and let its voice be known.  Perhaps next year...

Sorry man, we were rooting for you Sad
But not all is lost, if Wizards takes into account that there's a good amount of people into eternal formats (enough to get their representative to a 2nd place) maybe they'll put an eternal ballot of some sort next year.

That makes me a saaaad panda, although Erwin would've been my other vote if there had been no eternal player.

That sucks, I hadn't even heard of this Erwin guy till I saw the poll last week when it was linked from Forsythe's column. My reaction was, honestly, "Who are these clowns? I know Flores and Cunningham and HOLY SHIT I'M VOTING FOR SMMENEN!"

Maybe with this strong a showing, you've got another shot next year.

A strong showing, and basically it came down to Starcity versus TMD.  Turns out SCG has a higher readership, but Wizards has got to respect you commanding 20% of the vote.  Good try, and maybe next year.

I want to thank everyone who voted for me.

I believe a message was sent, loud and clear. Bill Stark, who was working the Gencon coverage, expressed his incredulous surprise at the results and said it spoke volumes about the Eternal community. I agreed.

Once more, thank you.   I couldn't be prouder to have been asked to represent such a wonderful community.

We absolutely sent a message, loud and clear. And WotC listened:

Steve M: grats. What's your card? R&D is obviously making a pull to give Vintage a spotlight. I consider it an honor to have been able to shake your hand after your win @ this year's World Champs. Hopefully you can enjoy similar success at the Invitationals.

Play well,

Did I read that column correctly:

"With Vintage being one of the five formats to be played at this year's Invitational (more on the rest at a later date)"

Very cool

Well congrats, the eternal community sent out a message and it has been heard.
Vintage & Legacy are in a prime spotlight right now, and we couldnīt be more excited.

Congrats Steve! I voted and was hoping you'd get in. But this way is even better in my book.

No thank you. There are enough formats about men.

In the living room, Navidson discovers the echoes emanating from a dark, doorless hallway which has appeared out of nowhere in the west wall.

I'll make a card for you Steve:

Oxymor-'On Enhanciter
URB
Creature - Human Moron
As long as Oxymor-'On Enhanciter is untapped, each spell that would cost less than three mana to play costs three mana to play. (Additional mana in the cost may be paid with any color of mana or colorless mana. For example, a spell that would cost 1B to play costs 2B to play instead.)

Congrats Steve! I voted and was hoping you'd get in. But this way is even better in my book.
It's like Wizards stepped in to say, We Care!

WOOOT!

Steve set us up the bomb...
In some months no one will laugh about vintage anymore and no one will say we can't play (as we have Menendian playing for us... Probably figuring out a T2 1st turn kill combo deck... or limited.)

And no, please don't create a card for a format about men as someone suggested.
At least make for vintage about women.

I will be playing four of these.  I'll worry about the deck later.
