I'd like to run an online tournament if anyone's interested.  I've wanted to do one of these for a while.  the general rule is that all decks must be legal in a block format.  if there's some interest I'd like to start this next week so in theory I'd like to see deck lists by tuesday night at midnight but if people want to play but would feel rushed with gencon, etc I could do it some other time.

An interesting idea, and I'd be up for the chance to play with Dromar's Charm, Grim Monolith, Survival of the Fittest, or Oath of Druids again. I might prefer a Build Your Own Block tournament, where you get to mix and match any first, second, and third sets from among blocks -- this is much more exciting from a deck building perspective, because you can't just look up winning lists from past Block Constructed tournaments. (It would probably need a different banned list, though, likely Legacy's, which would exclude me from playing with Oath or Monolith again. Frown.)

If you're serious about this, I recommend posting it in Community (if they let you) and at other sites like the Source, Starcity, and/or Salvation, because I see you're not getting much interest in this out-of-the-way niche of TMD.

build your own block would be too much of a headache for me I think because of the exact issue you said, having to construct an entirely new banned list to prevent totally degenerate things from happening yet still maintiaining the block feel.  what do you do with cards like necro, bargain, and will that are banned in legacy, unbanned in block and probably degenerate in build your own block but not definately.  or mind's desire which is only banned in legacy

I'd go with the Legacy banned list as-is, and then maybe ban a couple of Affinity cards, but I think that should be enough. It's your tournament, of course, just saying.

A lot of the degenerate cards are tempered by the fact that you have strict set-choice options. You can't use Will with LED, for example, because they're both from "large" sets (nor Necro with Will).

And some variations only allow one set from any given block, which means you can't even play Will and Bargain, or Disciple and Ravager.
