There's going to be a massive tourney in Valencia (Spain) with the best prize support ever!
It's going to be a 10 proxy non-sanctioned event with the following prize structure:

1st: Black Lotus Beta + Ancestral Recall Beta
   2nd: Black Lotus Beta
   3rd: Black Lotus Unlimited
   4th: Black Lotus de Unlimited
   5th: Ancestral Recall Unlimited
   6th: Ancestral Recall Unlimited
   7th-8th: Mox Sapphire Unlimited

   9th-12th: Mishra's Workshop
   13th-16th: Bazaar of Baghdad

Extra prizes awarded to the top3 non-proxy players!

It's going to be held in a hotel the 8th of December 2007.
Here's the blog's site for complete information: http://bp1.blogger.com/_FHDDzutstIc/Rsts-sn-fEI/AAAAAAAAAk8/PKu6U0RHtKw/s1600-h/cartel_valencia_web_en.jpg

It'd be great to see the European metagames confront... maybe we'll finally see the transatlantic clash... hopefully!

Furthermore, when 7th round finishes, the next prizes will be given among the first players that haven’t used any proxies:

1st place: Unlimited Mox Sapphire

2nd place: Library of Alexandria

3rd place: English Mana Drain

PARTICIPATION FEE

The participation fee will be 50€, which can only be paid the same day of the event. Prer-registrations aren’t available.

STRUCTURE

The tournament structure will be 7 50 minutes swiss rounds followed by the top 16. The first 16 placed players after the swiss rounds will play 4 preliminary rounds to determine who the winner is. The final position of a top 16 player will be determined considering how he finished after the first 7 rounds.

PROXIES

Only 10 full-color photocopies will be admitted as valid proxies. They have to increase card’s thickness as less as possible.

SIDE EVENTS

There will be side events besides the main event, with at least 8 players in each one. Drafts, Vintage and other formats side events will be organized. We will keep you informed in http://magicvalencia.blogspot.com/ of the side events that we plan to do.

EXPO HOTEL VALENCIA

It’s placed in Nuevo Centro, one of the most crowded comercial zones of the city, and near the historic center. It counts with easy acces to the airport, Recinto Ferial, Palacio de Congresos and to the road net. It’s next to the Bus Station. The Expo Hotel room where the tournament will be held, called Gran Salón, has 600m2, so it has a high seating capacity. We recommend you to stay in one of the 378 rooms of the hotel where we do the tournament, as you will save money on travel expenses. This is the web page of the hotel: http://www.expogrupo.com/hotel/expo-valencia/index.html

HOW TO ARRIVE?

Valencia is a city with very good connections, so you have lots of posibilities to arrive easily from very different places.

You can travel by train from any spanish city, arriving to the North Station. From there, you can get the line 3 (to Mislata-Almassil) of the underground in the Xativa stop. Get out in the next stop, called Angel Guimerá, where you have to get the line 1 (to Bétera or Lliria) and get off in the next stop, Turia. You will be next to the Expo Hotel. In the next link you have a Metro de Valencia (the underground) map: http://www.indiweb.net/imagenes/metro-valencia.gif

You can get to Valencia by plane. The Manises Airport is at 8km from the place of the tournament. You can get to the hotel by bus or taxi (it would cost about 20 euros). In this link you can see how to arrive from the airport: http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?cid=1048790574465&pagename=Estandar%2FPage%2FAeropuerto&SMO=1&SiteName=VLC&c=Page&MO=1

Another good way would be coming by bus, as the Bus Station is very near to the Hotel.

Just booked my flight today.  The wife and I will be staying over for a week.  Anyone know the places to go in Valencia?  Neither of us have even been to Spain before.

I just finished the finals.  I lost to MUDDomination, similar to what Jermemiah runs at the New England venues.  I was very disappointed to go undefeated all day, and then lose in the finals.  I got a Beta Lotus and a Library for my troubles.  Full report to follow when I return from Spain.
