I really like making small red creatures that have some dignity.  Red tends to come out of the colour pie looking stupid... so many of their spells smack of "that wasn't very smart" and their main tribe is goblins.  I like trying to fit red mechanics into a template that makes single-minded rage and conviction at all costs look more respectable and less idiotic.

So here's my latest go at it.

Flamewraith 1RRR
creature - spirit warrior

haste
whenever Flamewraith deals damage, return Flamewraith to your hand
at the end of your turn, return Flamewraith to your hand
3/1

Note that he bounces himself before damage resolves.  The flavor is a blazing fire spirit that keeps appearing and vanishing, with just enough time for carnage in between.  The mechanic is similar to a recurring burn spell that's difficult to target.  He usually kills a blocker and you need instant speed removal or first strike to stop him, or take 3 to the dome.  At 4 mana per use, that's not unfair.

Perhaps you should change the wording to
whenever Flamewraith assigns combat damage, return Flamewraith to your hand

First strike would suffice.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

What if he goes to hand instead of going to the graveyard from play?  Or regenerates and goes to hand?

I like The Atog Lord's wording best.  I like how a first strike critter is a permanent solution, and I don't really want him to be Weatherseed Treefolk, I want you to have to cast him every time you use him.  I kind of think of him as a combination of a Cursed Scroll type tempo maximizing effect and a big wildcard in creature standoffs with immunity to wrath effects.

If you guys think he needs a boost the change I'd be most open ot would be to enable him defensively via Flash.

This looks quite underpowered. The different Viashinos are a good comparison for this card. Viashino Cutthroat for example, is a 5/3 for 2RR. Viashino Sandstalker is 4/2 for 1RR. Your version is stronger in terms of abilities because it does not die in combat, but having to pay 1RRR per turn just to get 3 damage is not very exciting.
