Pandemonium Books and Games in Central Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts is holding a Mox Ruby Vintage Tournament!

4 Pleasant Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
617-547-3721

*When*
Play begins at 1:00p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 31, 2008.

*How Much*
Entry fee is $25.  See proxy section for additional information.

*Finding us*
We're located in Central Square, Cambridge, and we're accessible from the MBTA Red Line.  In Central square, we're next to the post office behind a Seven 11 with a side street.  Right when you get out of the center T Station exit, there's a Seven 11 that has no streets next to it, you want to walk down Mass Ave with that Seven 11 to your right and we'll be on the left behind the next one that you see (1 block down).

*Prize Details*
First Place Receives an unlimited VF+ Mox Ruby!  The front of the card looks very nice.  The back is where most of the damage is, mostly scuff marks.  There is light damage on the edges of the card.  There is no creases or distinguishable marks when in a sleeve.  A very nice prize indeed.  Additional Store Credit, Magic: The Gathering Prizes, or cash to be determined day of based on attendance.  Only the Mox is guaranteed as of this posting. *EDIT*  I know there will be a lot of questions as to what other prizes will be given away.  It will be store credit based on the number of players to top 8 players, how much is very contingent on the number of players.  I expect to be handing out $200-$400 split in either merchandise or store credit, and possibly cash among the rest of the top 8 players.

*Preregistration and Space*
As of Tuesday, May 27, 2008, we will accept preregistration for this event.  There is a limit of 32 players that we can comfortably accommodate for this event.  Please call the store to register.  Preregistration is encouraged to ensure your place in our store.    Please call 617-547-3721 to preregister.

*Deck Registration*
Please bring a typed or neatly handwritten deck list to the event or we will provide a deck registration sheet at the time of the event.  Deck Checks will be made at random during the event.  The store opens at 12:00pm, so try to arrive as early as possible especially if you need to write your deck list.

*Structure*
There will be swiss rounds determined by the number of players followed by a top 8 single elimination.  Max is 32 players, 5 rounds.  Grueling.

*Proxies*
This is a 15 proxy event.  An additional 5 proxies may be purchased for $2 each.  There is a limit of 20 proxies total.  Proxies must not be distinguishable from other cards.

Please visit our website, www.pandemoniumbooks.com for information on our store!  If you have any questions about the event, please contact the store directly at 617-547-3721.  Best time to call about the event is Tuesday May 27th - Saturday, May 31st, 12pm-10pm.

*Incentive*
If we get over 24 players for this event, additional Vintage tournaments will be held throughout the summer with additional Mox Grand Prizes!  We have a NM Mox Emerald and a NM- Mox Sapphire ready to be put up for grabs!

*Updates : 5/30/08*

*Space*
There's more space in the store that's been opened up, we can fit up to 50 players so the 32 is not a hard and fast limit to the number of players that can fit in the store, if we can get you a chair, you won't be turned away!

*Parking*
There are metered spaces around the store and there's a parking garage in central square that has all day parking rates.

Any other questions or suggestions, we want to be dedicated toward encouraging players to show up to the store, definitely give us a call!

*HOURS*
The store does open tomorrow at 12:00

I checked the information at the website, and it says "$25 entry, 12 proxies". Here it says 15 proxies. Which is the correct number? Also, for $25 entry, I'd like to get some idea of what the rest of Top 8 can expect for prizes before committing to it.

So does anyone know what the prizes for this are actually supposed to be like?

Our calendar on the website currently states 12 proxies.  I have no idea where that came from, as I do not have direct access to the calendar for the site *yet*.

All information in this posting is correct, it is $25 and it is 15 proxies, with additional proxies allowed.

If we get over 24 players, I will hold the next event, last weekend in June, with a Mox Emerald up for grabs!

Also, about prizes, it is contingent on the number of players, I added to the post that I am expecting to be handing out $200-$400 worth of store credit depending on the number of players that actually show up for the event.

*Edit*
We have updated the store calendar to reflect the correct information.  Any questions, please call the store!

How many here plan on attending? I kinda want to show up but my Magic budget is very limited this month, so for $25 entry I want to be certain the prize pool will be worth my while.

This event was a success!  For this event, we got 18 Players.  I will post the prize pool handed out to top 8 players after the completion of the event, as each tier has multiple options to choose from with the winnings!

The event ran smoothly and I had a good time.  I split in the Top 4 with Stefan, Mike Daly, James Tamulevich.  I look forward to their future events.  This summer is looking to be the best ever for New England Vintage!

Special thanks to everyone who attended.  It's the players that makes Magic what it is, and I would definitely call this event a success!  Special thanks to ELD for showing up and giving advise to make sure everything in the future runs smoothly!  The vintage community looks like a great group of people in the New England Area, and we are hosting another event!  I will have the tournament report up tomorrow that includes the top 8 decklist and a complete list of the prize support that was handed out!

The second vintage event has been Moved to Saturday, August 2, 2008 due to July 12th conflicting with the Eventide Prerelease Events, and we will be unable to hold a weekend Magic event in the store as we will have a dealer presence at the Maine Prerelease Location.
