I advertised a 2/3 SERIOUS game, if he wasn't looking to play 2/3 games on a serious level tournament level he shouldn't have joined at all. I played a serious deck which has been a consistent T8 contender for many people, so that can't be the issue.
If a player quits after game 1, where he obviously drew the nuts and I got a bit unfortunate, that's just rude. Imagine yourself, wanting revenge for your bad draws and then your opponent makes a condescending remark and quits on you, that's just awful behaviour. I mean I am not insulted by someone that calls my mother names over the internet, I just shrug it off and don't care as I know the other person is probably a bit frustrated and he doesn't even know me or my mother so how can he judge anyway? This behaviour is more sort of intellectual bullying (I don't know how to describe it otherwise) and that's probably the only thing that gets to me. Also, the 'Thanks' was clearly meant sarcastic and definately not polite.

I had a similair experience against Grimm last night. He was playing TPS and I was again playing Shops. I had played around 10 matches that day and had won them all, but he managed to win against me due to me not keeping a very strong hand against TPS. He kept calling me n00b and how his Hurkyl's Recall would beat me anyway, so I challenged him to prove it game 2 but he just kept on ranting and making remarks against me. It's definately a player I am going to avoid in the future although it looked like he was a solid player.

That said, I must say that overall I have more pleasant experiences with people on MWS than unpleasant. I truly enjoy playing MWS so don't get me wrong.

EDIT: to further strengthen my comment; Grimm tried to join one of my games a few days back as well. I refused and cancelled my game and created another one. He kept joinng even when I asked him not to in my comment. He then proceeded to call me a n00b (if I recall correctly) and WHA HA HA -ed me.

This guy Fowler is not someone you want to play with. His join note is:

Quote from: Fowler
VINTAGE, no players, tiers 1, serious, expert level, no 60+ cards, 2000+ DCI, fast, skill. And obv PRO

Looks like a good testing opponent huh?

Well we play (I'm playing GWSx and he's playing some Remora deck). All goes well untel he accidentally shuffles instead of drawing a card for his repeal, he also had top in play so it mattered. I don't care that match cause I was already at a disadvantage, but I make some fun of him and his join note:

Quote from: MWS
It is now turn 9 (Fowler)
It is now the Beginning Phase, Untap Step
Fowler untaps his/her permanents
It is now the Beginning Phase, Upkeep Step
Fowler taps Island
Fowler taps Swamp
Fowler plays Repeal from Hand

<System> Player Lost
<Duncan> lol
<System> Session Lost
<System> Disconnected

Hmm, not the reaction I expected. I said it was ok. Because I want to test some more against Remora and play game 2/3 I try te rejoin and ask why he left. I join his game with:

Let's play game 2/3

He accepts.

Quote from: MWS
It is now turn 1 (Duncan)
It is now the Beginning Phase, Untap Step
<Duncan> boarding
<Fowler> if play a good list
<Fowler> i keep in the game
<Fowler> no problem
<Fowler> but u run with bad cards..
<Duncan> its storm combo
<Fowler> sry for the missclik
<Fowler> bad build

<System> Player Lost
<System> Session Lost
<System> Disconnected

Well, I am a bit pissed right now, so I rejoin with the note: Ever heard of GWSx? Know your decks dude! Promptly he accepts.

Quote from: MWS
<Fowler> man
<Fowler> gws
<Duncan> know your decks dude
<Fowler> sucks my dick
<Fowler> k?

<Fowler> congrats
<Duncan> bob is major draw engine
<Duncan> to refuel combo hands
<Fowler> nope
<Duncan> tps runs out of gas, thats its flaw
<Fowler> u are wrong
<Fowler> just are wrong
<Fowler> but no problem man
<Duncan> remora should urn blue cards
<Fowler> the problem is
<Duncan> no black like bob Wink
<System> Session Lost
<System> Disconnected

At that point I was done with it. He pretends to be all pro and serious, which he obviously is not. Stay away from this dude.

haha duncan.

I must say MWS is full of dicks though, half the people think they are pro, you counter one thing and they rage quit. I find it hard to find good games during the day mostly, and the number of legacy players accepting vintage games is annoying. Then you also have the rule freaks; who go insane for anything.

I haven't really come across anything worth copy pasting to TMD, but soon Smile

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

I just played against someone calling himself "System." He advertised "T1 Serious no quitters." He then disconnected after I played a first turn Tinker. Hypocrite.

Either that or develop a universal "I'm not a douchebag" symbol that can be placed at the end of your tag.

This is actually a good idea. I avoid MWS now because the serious amounts of douche baggery that happens there.  I havent updated my set files since morningtide due to this. If this were to become a reality, I might actually start logging back onto that program and play some games. It really is a good program but I dont think dealing with immature children or just plain @$$holes is worth my time.   I think a good symbol at the end of tags would be (++). Its small and easy to see. Maybe I might update my files and see if this proves to work.  Its worth a try I guess.

Some of us attached TMD/SCG to our handles with little success (read: random noobs don't know what those symbols mean).

I stick with Vingate: Serious but Friendly and hope for the best.

So make up a dumb acronym like IANADB, publish it here, and start using it.

Or better, make it something asinine so that people who don't know what it means won't use it.  Like...um..."Vintage with dill pickles!"

The real trick isn't picking something, it's spreading it to everyone who needs to know it and forging a community consensus.

I think on conditional statements, you would use the subjunctive conjugation of "ser." That is, "si sea mejor."

Yeah, I was speaking as I would in English: e.g., I'd say "If it's better," even if "It would be better" would actually be correct.  But in Spanish, you'd actually use - I think - "seria" if you wanted to be correct.

If you used "seria" then you would use the subjunctive conjugation of "poder." Subjunctive conjugation also means "would X" but it's different.

Okay but here's tonight's round of fun with Li Ka-Shing. He may use TheManaDrain, and if so, your douchebaggery has been noted.

If anyone wants to test vintage, I am usually on MWS testing (mostly PT formats but Vintage also) most afternoons (12-4 PST). You can AIM me (toor271). I am down to play pretty much any matchup.

This just happened.

We should put a ban on posting Sephiroth interactions.  Just a quick disclaimer at the top: Sephiroph lives to goad vintage players.  Maybe a list of his aliases.  Maybe.

He may outright get off on the notoriety we give him.  So what it boils down to is: who here would be caught dead jerking off Sephiroph?  'Cuz that's what posting his shit is...jerking him off.

Wombat_Patrol reads TMD and is quite a douche. I fucked up the phases on my turn 1 time and he told me to learn the rules very condescendingly and when I replied "I know the rules. I've been playing since Masques block." he told me to "stick to barbie dolls" and then he quit. Also EloB blames luck when he loses and then he rage quits.

This isn't about a player being a douche in the way Sephiroth is but I was playing against this guy named Vintage and I won. Then we talked about the upcoming tournament in France (Bazaar of Moxen) and he pretended to be chill and asked for my name. I gave him it and he quit when I asked him his.

Just a heads up that some people are selfish enough that they will take advantage of your general friendliness alongside your play mistakes. Now I gotta hope this won't come back and bite me in the ass.

I swear the douchebags you meet in MWS amaze me. I remember Apprentice having nicer people.

I don't ever remember this time.

Also, I'm not really sure how giving your name out on MWS could be all that harmful. Perhaps he just got dropped?

Me as Neo.
Him/her as Nilsson, a self-described Danish T1 "tech" designer.

<Neo> Ok
<Nilsson> null rod doesnt affect mana abilities right?
Nilsson puts Mana Drain to Graveyard from Play
<Neo> It affects everything
<Neo> From an artifact
Tezzeret the Seeker now has 4 (+4) counters.
<Nilsson> no
<Neo> Yes
<Nilsson> not mana abilities
<Neo> Incorrect
<Nilsson> 2 sec
<Neo> Null Rod prevents all abilities from artifacts.
<Nilsson> im pretty sure it cant affect mana abilities
<Neo> I'm positive it does.
<Neo> Those that don't say "nonmana"
<Neo> That word is absent from Null Rod.
<Nilsson> you can say peething needle on a land
<Neo> It is part of mana denial strategies.
<Nilsson> lol
<Neo> This is very basic.
<Neo> I don't know any serious T1 players who don't know how Null Rod works.
<Nilsson> pfff, mana denial. then why would ppl play ful set of mox and mana v + c with 4 nullrods
<Neo> They don't.
<Nilsson> LOl
<Nilsson> okay
<Neo> Null Rod is the counter strategy to full power.
<Nilsson> bye
<Neo> LOL
<Nilsson> faggot

I'm playing Selkie Strike and have an opener of Strand, FoW, Sapphire, Null Rod, Lotus, Strip, Goyf

My opponent wins the die roll, goes Island, Crypt, Lotus, Tezzeret->Vault and passes the turn

I draw Hierarch (and thus do not have FoW online)...and he starts whining:

<t33h> g2?
AD plays Strip Mine from Hand
<AD> Not yet
AD taps Strip Mine
t33h sacrifices Island
AD puts Strip Mine to Graveyard from Play
AD plays Mox Sapphire from Hand
<t33h> g2 or not
AD plays Black Lotus from Hand
AD taps Black Lotus
AD puts Black Lotus to Graveyard from Play
AD plays Null Rod from Hand
<AD> Ok?
AD taps Mox Sapphire
<t33h> more luck and you dont live
<t33h> go on
AD plays Tarmogoyf from Hand
<AD> End my turn
<t33h> brf
<t33h> fucking LUCK
<System> Player Lost
Tarmogoyf is now 2/3

I'm the lucky one...just having disruption.  Not the one who lays a possible kill on the table turn 1.  Ironic no?
