Hello all.  I haven't played Magic competitively in about 10 years, and I have a lot to get caught up on.  I have been testing decks I see on this site and others to see how they work, and learning what makes them tick.

I had been working on an accelerated "Flash deck" and it was working quite well until the new restrictions. [It was winning on turn 0 about 25% or more of the time]  (If you're interested I can post the deck list I had for that in another thread)

I have always been a player that like to try new things verses "net decking" which I know is not the most effective way to get back into magic.  However, to make a long story short I was hoping people might find some interest in discussing the viability of an enchantress deck in light of blues shift in power.

Can a turbo beat win?  Can a control deck keep up?

Since the deck is unorthodox can it sneak out wins because opponent decks may not have unorthodox answers?

The deck I have been working on is focusing on speed synergy and cost efficiency here is the list:

Mana:
18 Forrest
2 Elvish Spirit Guides

Creatures:
4 Argothian Enchantresses
3 Verduran Enchantresses
4 Yavimaya Enchantresses

Enchantments:
4 Utopia Sprawl
4 Wild Growths
3 Elephant Grass
3 Earthcraft
3 Hidden Herd
2 Hidden Gibbons
2 Concordant Crossroads
1 Primal Rage
1 Fastbond
2 Enchantress Presence
2 Seal of Primordium

Instants:
2 Vitalize

The concept is your basic enchantress with a few tricks.

Play all your Utopia Sprawls / Wild Growths on one or two lands to use with Earthcraft later. (you can not wasteland / Magus of the moon a forest)

Use vitalize to untap your creatures to untap your lands

You can draw /and play just about everything in the deck on turn 3-5ish range.

With Concordant Crossroads and Primal Rage you then attack with your (4) high teen /high teen Yavimaya enchantress's that should have trample for the win.

Comments/ Ideas?

Wouldn't a more controlling version with white be more effective?  White gives you Solitary Confinement, Sterling Grove, Moat and Serra's Sanctum for crazy mana production.

I have no experience with Enchantress, but the GW decks are what I have seen to be more successful in the past.

Yes it is possible, but I feel it is much slower for little gain and greater risk. (duals wastelandable mana issues etc.)

I failed to mention in my initial post that its mono green to streamline it (speed it up) and almost all the enchantments in the deck cost only 1 mana and are very effective.

With two lands and a wild growth with (x) enchantress's out its like drawing (x) cards for free because you get your mana back on the untapped land.

I think a Painters Servant and classic cheap green "black hate" would be a far better route to take.  This would also synergize well with Elephant Grass so no creatures could attack.

Any more ideas?

Some of us were discussing Enchantress not to long ago on this thread currently on page 2.  I have been experimenting but haven't added to the post lately.

I agree that Enchantress can be successful right now.  Enchantress is somewhat of a forgotten archtype that may in fact not be viable anymore.  However, I've had great success running this deck recently and believe that it can be viable.  Cards like Runed Halo and Wheel of Sun and Moon have pumped new life into the deck by offering it solid answers to decks that would normally eat its lunch like basically any combo deck or Ichorid.  These cards combined with disruption via Duress/Tormod's Crypt/StP/Seal of Cleansing is more than enough to allow it to hold its own with the big boys.

I run a Green/White/Black version that seeks a soft lock while you attempt to go lethal.  Your build seems a bit to Aggro-ish and like the previous poster mentioned there isn't enough slots dedicated to disruption-control.

Oh man your halfway to SQUIRRELCRAFT!
I would suggest cutting some cards for more earthcrafts and more Squirrel Nests (4x of each).  Nest + Earthcraft = INFINITE (tapped) SQUIRRELS!!

Squirrel Nest  1GG
Odyssey (Uncommon)
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant land
Enchanted land has "{T}: Put a 1/1 green Squirrel creature token into play."

... being killed by squirrels is second only to killing with crabs (see Hommarid Spawning Pit)

That is awesome.  I'm doing it.  Do you believe that this could possibly be type 1 viable?

Does Homarid Spawning Bed actually combo with anything?? I looked it up and it seems obscure to me...

No.  I was just saying as far as "greatest" ways to die in magic it goes:

1) Crabs
2) Squirrels
3) Goats

Everything else.

May I suggest Gaea's Touch? It costs essentially 0 mana, just make sure you declare which enchantment you're using to make your extra-landdrop before saccing it.
