1 sol ring
1 mana crypt
5 mox
1 lotus

2 forest
1 island
4 trop
2 uground
1 bayou
3 delta
3 rainforest

(24) mana

4 thoughtseize
4 force of will
3 witness
3 goyf
2 negate
1 vendilion clique
1 thada adel
1 e. truth
1 compulsive research
(20)

1 ancestral
1 brainstorm
1 time walk
1 merchant scroll

1 fact
1 gifts
1 thirst
1 tinker

1 robot (sundering titan for that tourney)
1 vamp
1 demonic
1 yawg

1 mystical
1 time vault
1 voltaic key
1 yawgmoth's will

1 regrowth
(15 restricted cards)

SB:
4 Thorn of amethyst
2 Seal of primordium
2 Yormod's crypt
2 Sower of Temptation
1 Nature's claim
1 Oxidize (probably wants to be a second Claim)
1 Tarmogoyf
1 Negate
1 Extirpate

Some immediate thoughts I had on the list in general:

Don't the final MD card (ponder?).  Originally I ran 2 e. truths, since pitching it to Force always felt terrible.  Thada/Clique were terrible in this.  I mulled a lot, so you probably want to add a land or two (cut the 2 bad creatures to start).  Spell Pierce can easily replace Negate in the MD; Negate is run because Force is -1 card, Seize doesn't stop topdecks and you can't support an early Drain due to ggub requirements early on. Intuition/AK felt too slow to start up; Intuition/DA is probably too much lifeloss with Seize and regrowths. BoParadise, while they can improve mana denial matchups, are just not really worth it.  Oh, and FoF is a bit weak too.  4 goyf was too many, you never really want the second one.

UG is tempting (you could run Drain in that build), but I feel like another land or two would generally solve the occasional issues I run into against denial, and black is just so good with vault/key.  I really hate this many artifacts with only 1 thirst.  One thing I have to watch out for playing this is just drawing too many cards instead of actually winning.

If combo isn't a thing, you can cut thorns.  2 Duress in the board is fine for combo/control to complement Seizes. Extirpate is kinda useless too, there are always better cards.

I didn't have time to formulate an appropriate SB plan for matchups, so I just remembered what I ran a few months ago and splashed in 'good' cards. I'll probably have a much more refined list for next Monday. Long post!  Rolling Eyes

Thank you to everyone who supports Monday Night Vintage.  It looks like we're rebuilding again in New England.  We have been hitting 11+ very consistently, and I'm sure by the summer we'll be able to break into the 17+ territory again on occasion.  We've got new blood, old friends returning to the scene, and players who've been through it all.  Community is one of the most important elements of the Vintage scene, and we have a great one at Scholar's.

Congratulations to Jesse Martin, winner of the Philly Open.  He has played TPS vs some of the best in New England at MNV more than anyone.  He even switched to Tezzeret for a while to get the perspective from the other side.  All that experience paid off when he walked out of Philly with a new Black Lotus.

Farias was playing Shops and I was playing Tezz.

I need to learn how to play this format again. Too much Extended and Draft changes the way you play.

Its strange because Type 1 doesn't make you bad at other formats, but other formats make you bad at Type 1.

I'd say Type 1 makes you better at other formats.  I believe if you can draft well, and play Vintage well, you can pick up any format and do well.  Both of these formats do not allow you to perfect flaws, and matches are rarely decided solely on match ups.

I'd like to thank Tezzeret.  I make fun of you for your little girly etherium arms, but you know its all in good fun.  I'd also like to thank WOTC for removing power level errata and making type 1 such a fun format.  Without timevault, the populace of Esper was severely underrepresented in type 1.  I thank wizards for finally doing something to address this racial inequality.  And of course, Yawgmoth.  How many times have you saved me from the brink of doom?  I'd also like to give a shout out to the dread pirate, without him, first place seemed but a distant dream.

Far be it from me to be humble or lower myself in anyway, but I cant take credit for what I didnt do.  I think my breakers actually put me in second.

Nope. Your breakers put you in first. You did, on the other hand, agree to a split with a condition. A condition in which you agreed to take the prize amount that 2nd place will have earned. Congrats on 1st place by the way!

I play it occasionally as well.  I never win the die roll so the deck doesn't work as well for me.   Very Happy

I heard a rumor that Brandon Jones-- arguably the best shops player in the world (seriously, arguably, its a really fun argument to have with him)-- may start coming on monday.

We did have 16 players this week, and attendance has been excellent in general.  I'm on vacation this week, so I can't post standings until I return.

1st/2nd Split James Fontes - Dredge and David Leavitt (Tezzeret G)
3rd Robbie Connolly - Roblins
4th Nick Vallas GW Aggro
