Damn, when you look at it that way, it looks like me and Eric are running the same exact deck. Our builds are so extremely different though.

I guess no more than seven people showed up, or what other reason is thinkable for a top seven?
The information, what decks have been played would always make this thread much more interesting for the general crowd.

I would encourage anyone who's local to join us.  It's a great prize pool with $8 in store credit per $6 entry with unlimited proxies.  We also typically do a draft after the vintage event.

And before he complains again - do note that the two Dredge decks are different builds.

I didn't complain last time, I merely thought it was funny how "black and white" it looks when worded as such. Are you still pissed about last night or something?

How could I be upset?  It was my mistake (and I won both matches).   Wink
And no, I'm not, I just figured you'd whine again.

Again, there was no such whining.

top 2 was a split, but 3rd beat out 4th in tiebreakers, as ELD so eloquently put it, 'by a large margin'.

My apoligies in advance if I get it wrong, but I believe last night went

1. Nick Vallas GW creatures that consistently eat sphinx of the steel wind
2. Bill Rosa vault/key/sphinx that consistently gets eaten by nick's creatures
3. Eric Dupuis dredge
4. Mox dredge
5. Matt Macauley timevault/tezz/key that searches but that doesnt give infinite turns
6. Robbie Connolly goblins

Ichorid Hate

I played against:

Round 1 Tezzeret - Pete Jansen

Pete is a new player to MNV, and a welcome addition.  He's a solid player, who's just starting to learn Vintage.  He previously attended with GW Aggro for a losing record.  He seemed like the type of player who wants to win, so I expected him to switch to something more broken.

Game 1 I have to choose between Ancestral and Remora as my opener, so I drop Remora.  He duresses, and I end up drawing more cards off the Remora than I would have with the Recall.  The game goes quite a while with remora out.  Most of what I draw off it are lands, but eventually I hit some business and win.

Game 2 I open up with Remora again.  He has a Vault and Key in the opening hand.  I draw 2 cards off the combo pieces, and repeal his vault to buy more time.  I'm able to stop the Key the second time around after a counter war.  From there he was out of plays and I win with better board position.

Round 2
Tezzeret Details to follow

Round 3 GW Zoo

Game 1 He got 1 turn.  My hand was absolutely busted, with:

Turn 1 Academy, Mana Crypt, Time Walk
Walk Turn Island, Ancestral Recall Pass --> Repeal his Canonist during his endstep.   Win on my turn

Game 2 When a deck tries to play a fair game, Mana Drain becomes huge.  Sower stole key creatures, Drain ensured they could stick around.  I eventually tinkered into Sphinx and won through the air.

3 Tops seems like an awful lot, especially without and confidants in the build.  Do they serve a particular function?  Multiple tops = Lots of storm?

Top's Draw ability is very good in conjunction with a Repeal or Voltaic Key activation.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

I like the deck, Eric. It looks like you've taken two lists of mine and had them create a child. Marius discussed the Top/Repeal draw engine that I've been using in another thread, and you've also added the Remora/Commandeer package. It looks very fun to play.

Lol yeah.  For some reason the top draw engine slipped my mind.
