I need a break from my essay/comic book projects. It's 330am, and I can't stop writing or I'll fall asleep.
I didn't have time to playtest. Well, I could have played MWS--but i'd rather just draft wolly mammoths in ME2 drafts on MODO.
Don't hate.

I show up way to early. I thought we were starting at noon, apparantly this got changed to one. Like ten people and I kicked it outside for a bit.
RD1--some Demars keeper abomination
g1 he plays some voltanic keys, some lands, some counters, and a top. I force through a gifts and win on the spot. Seriously, how good is that card? I can't think of a time where I haven't just won the game with it.
g2--he plays a first turn ethersworn cannonist. Awkward, considering I sided out my rebuild. I mystical for the chain and pass. he cranks out a chalice at one, I respond with bouncing his dude, and vamping for tinker. DSC gets there in two big swings.
RD2--Travis Spero/Double Drain, Ad Nas
g1--we play tiddlewinks with counters and duress effects, and his mana crypt kills him. I totally called a judge on his five minute turns and he got upset. Also, snagged an ancestral with a MISD. yummy.
g2--he cranks out a super fast kill.
g3--i mull to six and he keeps a turn one if I don't have disruption. I punish him with a duress, taking his lotus and stranding him with just bombs and no mana. I win shortly thereafter.
RD3--Jewlightning, Meandeck Tezz
g1--I duress away counters and have a crazy turn three win. We lost count of storm when it went over twenty. I didn't cast Desire because I was under the impression that if I had more storm copies than cards in my deck I would lose. It takes me forever to win becaue of this, but I get there after bargaining down to one, giftsing, ancestraling twice, brainstorming, pondering, and finally fact or fictioning.
g2--I have a turn one necro with protection. Then i punch his burger. You're a player for life, bro.

RD4--Manaless ichorid.
g1--he mulls to one. bout time that happened to an ichorid player vs me!
g2--i mull to five, and pitch my ancestral to FOW to keep his unmask at bay. I drop a land, lotus, pithing needle, and mox. we play draw go till i rip a gifts, which got a jailer, a tinker, a demoic and a fact or fiction. he gives me tinker and jailer, and I win. After the game, i told him that the FoF and jailer were his best bets.
RD5--ad nas with tezz kill. no clue why
g1--i mull to five. he drops a time vault and a voltanic key.
g2--i mull to six and keep a suspect hand. more of the same, though I shouldn't have scooped. he had a mana crypt in play to go with his infiinite turns. no tinker though, it got eaten by a chrome mox. I laughed when he did this, as the crypt was already in play and he was at five. But, I scooped when he got the combo. It was the only mistake I found in my play all day. Pretty big one though. doh.
I go into the t8 in second place.
t8--manaless ichorid.
g1--he wins the roll and starts getting dumb with bazzaar. I pray he doesn't unmask me, and luckily i get to play a sea, double dark ritual, and memory jar. I don't break jar in my upkeep, opting to use my land and imperial seal first. I put a lotus on top and draw seven, which find me a twister. Twister finds me a necro and a vamp. Again, i get a lotus. I stack my triggers correctly and end the turn with seven life and seven cards. I had a grim tutor in my jar hand, so I won when I got to untap, on a single life.
g2--i open with a pithing needle. I tinker for a DSC, and have double force. Savage. Hand.
t4--Jim/godot, ad nas
g1--he straight up punts. he keeps his hand, does some math, laughs, and says "i lose." my duress shows me a very awkward hand that would have won, if that basic swamp in play had been able to make U.
g2--he could have won turn two, with his first turn of lotus, imp seal--but the game went on seven turns longer, with me drawing the worst card in my deck every turn. tendrils, followed by jar, followed by desire, followed by bargain, with a tinker somewhere in there. all with no resources to make them work.
g3--my seven is a turn one, if there was any single way to produce mana. my six has a tinker, a jet, a ruby, an emerald, a sol ring, and a mis-d. I go to five. He kills me turn two.
I lost twice today. When I don't mulligan to five, I win. TPS is a great deck if you have a strategic mind or excel at problem solving. I've played it to $$ finishes the last four times I've played it. I made the mistake of playing fish at our first p9 event, and should have been casting dark rit all day. I will play this deck at the next p9 event, and the one after that. Like fae in t2, there's just no reason to not play all the best cards in the format in one deck.
I got a tropical island for my troubles.
Our top 4 was 2 TPS, Ad nas, and Ravanger. We got 22 people.
The next one will be for a mox!
