I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was. I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury. I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Feature Match - Dan Yarrington versus Jarad Carter
Round one, paired against a teammate. That sucks. Go, Ball and Chain! Go! Was the "sligh" deck the R/B/G/W concoction with Parasites and Ooze...or some deck that I didn't see?
If memory serves me correctly, it was actually a classic Sligh list. I saw some Goblin Cadets, so I guess he was playing it old-school. Perhaps it was the right call for the meta? The R/B/G/W concoction with Parasites and Ooze did end up making top 16, though, but lost in the first round of elimination to the Ichorid player who split the finals. I'm personally rooting for the Parasite deck to win today. I would love a play-mat with awesome Conflux jank on it. Long live Standard cards in Vintage! PS: The Ichorid list had maindeck Gravetrolls. Apparently, Green creatures always win (split?) Waterbury.

Dredge? Winning At TMD? Its sadly more likely than you think.
Grats to all the winners, wish I had the time to get back into magic again.

"After these years of arguing I've conceded that Merchant Scroll in particular can be an exception to this rule because it is a card that you NEVER want to see in multiples, under any circumstances. Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!
I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was. I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury. I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Congrats Jason!!!
Much appreciated. Also, much thanks to Arik and the rest of the carpool for sticking around for me, all of my opponents on both days, and Ray for hosting this awesome tournament. I haven't had this much fun playing Magic for a while.

congrats Jason, it was a pleasure to play against you again (although this time the tables were turned!)
Did you plow though more ichorid decks in the top 4 or was I your only bye?

Just you, though I played against 2 Ichorid decks in the swiss. Top 4 was against UGW Hierarch Fish, and the finals was against Remora. Always a pleasure Ironicly Jason ford was my opponent who failed to show on day 1 round 2 in the winners bracket. Freaky shit.
Yep, that was me. I pre-regd with a bye and paid ahead because I knew that I would be coming down after actual registration time. However, due to traffic/getting lost/other complications, I didn't show up until the end of round 2. EZ win heh

I watched him lose his second round, his Necropotence got countered and he drew mana. If only he beleived in his deck to give him what he needed.
LOL. LOL. I was playing a fun deck on day two. I played 4 Grim Tutor Grim Long, 5c version. If I wanted to win the tournament, I would have just played my day 1 deck. Also, I made a billion play errors in both rounds with GL. I was too rusty with that deck. I hadn't played it in a tournament in three years.

That makes sense. I know you did very well day 1, so there wasn't a reason to play as serious for day 2. Congrats on your day 1!

One of the biggest breakouts from this tournament was: OMG how amazing is Inkwell Leviathan. I mean most people knew that Leviathan was good, but I don't think people realized he was GREAT.
Everyone was running it and it was a game ender over and over again.
I think it was best captured by Vin Forino: "Ah can't believe that Wizahds printed a Shroud Tinker Tahget."

Yes it was one of the breakouts of the tourney, but I would also pitch it out there: NOBLE HIERARCH cough, cough. . . Man, I'm so glad I went with my gut and played the demon-child I helped create! I'm also so glad that Jeff did well with the deck day 2. Thanks for carrying the torch for me from day 1. Wish I could have been there! -Noah

I was running maindeck Merchant scroll, Hurkyls x2 in my Selkie deck because Inkwell is such a beating... it never came up against me.
As an afterthought I swapped Swords out for Psy-blast because it worked with MS... and Psyblast was great and relevant all day long!

Is there gonna be a post with the Day 1 top 8 decks? Is it gonna be bumped to the Starcitygames decklists? I wanna see more precisely the decks I would have faced if I didn't get Ichorid in my first Top 8 matchup.

I was kind of wondering the same, except I was wondering where we can get results and decklists for both the main and side events of day 1 and day 2.
