1 [c]sol ring[/c]

the way I play the deck is use Recall, entomb, intuition, Buried Alive or just discarding large creatures into my graveyard and fishing them out with animate dead and Reya. Course with animates in play I can copy them with copy enchantment (adds verstility for toher things too). I find the recalls, intuitions and entomb with the tutors.

I usually go after Reya followed by Niv-Mezzit and curiousity 1st because Reya will help get the creatures in play in addition to the animates. Niv-mezzet keeps my hand full and can pick off smaller creatures or a bit of direct damage. I try to get the Tyrants into play ASAP to start sending lands, etc back to opponents hand. The djinn enables replicated Demonic tutors. Raptor helps gain life. Dominius takes things from opponent. Emyprical angel helps with direct damage, and from my own lands, unblockable/shadow creatures, etc. Platinum angel helps against early loses due to mana trouble, winnie creatures, bad hand etc. and the merciless one discourages spell casting.

I have realized that disruption is a weakness, I am trying to put up defenses against counterspells (defense grid and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir) null rod can protect against Tormod's crypt, etc.

I can imagine someone adding that I need moxes, B lotus, timewalks, A.Recall, force of will, etc......but I cant afford those cards.
I guess I am looking for someone to point out holes or weaknesses in the deck and suggest some cards that arent $40 per card.

Thanx!

try putting in some thirst for knowledge
it will give you card draw plus a way to dump creatures from your hand into the grave

i would say platz and archangel are pretty much gonna do the same thing for you so i'd go the shrouded angel route to keep it more safe

niv would be good to stay if you add in the thirsts and other card draw

kaervek is funny against storm decks

dominus djinn clone raptor seem unnecessary unless you are playing this deck casually with friends

most people are not gonna bother commenting because this website is more focused on competitive play and current meta analysis
not to be cruel but your deck is too slow to compete

i am assuming you are being honest about your card pool and you just don't have any power which is what makes vintage tick and it pretty much required to be able to compete healthily
most decks need either pro active discard spells like thoughtseize or duress or counters like force of will and mana drain
mainly because people want to stop you from accomplishing your goal so they can accomplish their own and win

Hello,

Ill try to help on your deck. Please take my notes as advices and only do what you really like, its your deck and your fun above any other thing ^ ^

"point out holes or weaknesses in the deck and suggest some cards that arent $40 per card."

ok then, holes:
1 - the biggest one in my opinion is reanimation cards. You run few. 14 creatures and 4 animates is the first thing to "correct".
Dance of the dead is nice and cheap http://findmagiccards.com/Cards/IA/Dance_of_the_Dead.html
At the bare minimum 8 animate resources is what you need, 10 will be better. Copy enchanment doesnt count because you need to wait until you find an animate, and maybe you will need to copy other enchanment.

2 - cards to put the creatures on the graveyard. You run 8 of them, but the recalls are mana intensive, and you need to have the cards on hand. Those can be nicely replaced by thirst for knowledge as timp said. Also Buried alive is good enough to try to get 4 of them.

3 - cards to protect your game. Disruption is nice against counters (duress, cabal teraphy) but if you dont like it, there are options:
for 50cents you can buy Turnabout http://findmagiccards.com/Cards/US/Turnabout.html to leave opponent with no mana and also doubles as a defense against creatures or let you attack freely, get more defense grids, or get those cheap counters like Mana Leak.

So for about 10 bucks, u can get:
+2 buried alive (2x2$)
+4 thirst for knowledge(4x0.50$)
+4 dance of the dead(4x1$)

And you get double the chances to reanimate, 4 cards to draw that doubles as discard, and complete the buried alive set.

Hope that helps.

This isn't a bad start, but I would drop Teferi from the main deck as you don't really want to hardcast your guys, and I don't necessarily think of his other ability as being universally useful enough to justify his inclusion.  I've always loved Reya, even though she is a tad too slow to really pull her weight in a competitive environment.

I would make the following changes, at a glance:

- 2 Clone (as a general rule, I feel strongly that this card is only going to be useful when you are already winning. Cards that aren't good by themselves aren't worth putting in your deck)
- 1 Teferi
- 4 Copy Enchantment
- 3 Recall (too slow in my opinion)
- 1 Mystical Tutor, 1 Personal Tutor, 1 Merchant Scroll (too slow and not worth it without Ancestral and other power cards)

+ 4 Duress
+ 4 Exhume
+ 1 Demonic Consultation
+ X of Dance of the Dead (I agree this an excellent suggestion for a deckbuilder on a budget)
+ X of Careful Study/Probe/Last Rites/Thirst for Knowledge/Breakthrough (play around and see what is best)
+ 1 Yawgmoth's Will

If you are going to run multiple copies of Buried Alive (and I see no reason not to) then I would drop Null Rod for Woodripper which also doubles as a nice 4/6 beat stick.  I don't think Null Rod is a good solution for Tormod's Crypt as this card is usually going to wreck you regardless.  If you are playing first, Duress helps a lot, and I imagine Chalice of the Void could be a possible solution, though not something I would main deck.  I would definitely add 4 copies of both Duress and Exhume, then start thinking about Dance of the Dead since Exhume doesn't worry about enchantment removal, but that is just my personal preference.  You are way better off running Demonic Consultation over the weak tutor cards.  You don't have enough good targets to justify running those.  Keep Demonic of course.

Lastly, I would recommend you gravitate towards Legacy in general as I think you will have an easier time in the Legacy format without power cards.  I don't know what your play environment is like, but you are at too great of a disadvantage in any serious type one arena.

Just my 0.02.

Peace

Oh, and I forgot to mention you are really doing yourself a disservice by not including 4 copies of Dark Ritual and 4 Putrid Imps.  You need to get past the idea of winning by bringing in a Reya, then a Niv, then a so and so in timely fashion.  Start thinking of turn one Ritual, Imp, discard Spirit of the Night, cast Exhume, attack for 6.  Your goal should be to kill your opponents as quickly as you can with a re-animator deck.  I'm not a big fan of the fancy control approach.

Here's a Reanimator deck list I found belonging to a player who recently won a big Legacy tournament.  I'd look to this for inspiration if I were you.  If you can't afford an Akroma, definitely consider Rorix, Bladewing or Spirit of the Night.
