I was wondering if leyline of the void and ill-gotten gains works like I hope it does. If leyline is out, does this mind-twist your opponent into oblivion?  That seems pretty strong, giving you plenty of time and built in protection from counters while comboing. perhaps intuition has a place as well. I am no storm expert, so ill need help with the idea, but here would be a rough sketch of what i'm talking about:

ill void

4 dark ritual
3 cabal ritual
more mana

4 leyline of the void
4 ill-gotten gains
4 unmask
2 thoughtsieze
2 duress

2 tendril of agony

2-3 intuition
1 ancestral recall
1 brainstorm
1 ponder
1 timetwister
1 necropotence
1 yawgmoth's bargain
1 yawgwill
1 demonic tutor
1 vampiric tutor
1 mystical tutor

you could also work around counterspells, like if you get a spell countered, then play ill gotten gainsand get it back, with a rit and a duress. The only thing is that if leyline isn't out, ill gotten gains can recycle their force over and over, depending on how many blue cards they have. either way, though, their hand then only has one card in it, hopefully it isn't anything crippling. any suggestions.

it does work like that.  The legacy deck IGGy-Pop is based on this combo.  You might look there for some ideas.

First suggestion is

-4 Unmask
+2 Duress
+2 Thoughtseize

or

-4 Unmask
-2 Thoughtseize
+2 Duress
+4 FoW

then

-1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
+1 Cabal Ritual/Imperial Seal

I also ran at least 3 maybe 4 Intuition. It adds Threshold, searches for cards you want and sets up the Iggy.

In the SB I suggest some Dark Confidant to exchange the Iggys with postboard as you _will_ face a lot of GY hate like Ichorid plus Chalice/Null Rod.

Exactly what is the optimal win with ill gotten gains? I'm looking for stuff, but haven't found anything yet. As for the unmask for fow, I think that more blue cards need to be added to run it. Any ideas? Probably some combination of repeal and chains of vapor.

The confidants in the side are a good Idea. leyline would suck against me.

The Legacy version ran LED and Infernal tutor I believe.  I forget what the deck looked like exactly.

I tested Ill gotten Gains with Dream Salvage and came up with the same idea to play Leyline, but you could play Xantid Swarm too. But i guess that it has not the potential for Type 1, just because you can't run 4 LED as you can in Legacy. LED is what makes Infernal Turtor and IGG strong in Legacy. Iggy Pop isn't played very much these days in Legacy afaik, but why i can't say. The trend goes to TES and Ad Nauseum.

I'm pretty sure that once you cast intuition for demonic, lotus, and ritual, igg should win. you just keep playing those until you have lethal storm, or you find will.

The only issue that I see is gravehate game 1. game 2&3 you can bring in confidant and avoid it, but if those get removed, there may be a problem. Also, what other plays are strong with gains, beside the one-sided mind twist?

I suppose you could transform from Leyline + Ill-Gotten Gains to Leyline + Helm of Obedience if they bring in graveyard hate.

Still has the whole "loses to FoW" thing going on though.
