The only game I really saw them in they did indeed act as additional "wastelands" but were not effective in stopping two fetch lands to get black for Yawg will. |

Well, against other fish decks, you have large Island-walking guys, which I imagine is a plus. |

Did the merfolk player ever test Cold-Eyed Selkie? Did they not live the dream of swinging for 3 with a pair of Lords in play?
Also the Legacy tech Shapesharer, a shapeshifter, seems like a solid card against Oath, DSC, Dreadnought, etc.

I played against the Merfolk deck...and I don't know how good of a showing it put on against me, but Selkie sounds pretty bad. It's three mana, and is pretty bad unless its accompanied by a Lord. On top of that, you'd probably be just as well of spending your mana Wastelanding your opponent or beating with Mutavault. I'd rather play cards that independently good than one's that are situationally awesome.

A draw engine is rather good independently, especially when there are 8 cards to boost its effectiveness (4 Lord of Atlantis, 4 Merrow Rejeerey). Cards like Reef Shaman, on the other hand...

with eight pumping creatures, I'd play Selkie.
I also think Thief could be a beating in the meta....yanking Time Vault, Will, Tinker, etc is some good.
