Moar instants plz?
Agreed.  The cycling cards from Shards are some of the best T4 cards printed EVER, so I wholeheartedly agree with what was said about them.  This set is certainly lacking good instants although the couple we got are pretty good, but probably none in my top twenty Type 4 cards.

I was hoping for more good Type 4 cards out of the all gold set, particularly since I figured there wouldn't be any good Vintage cards.  The set does deliver A LOT of good giant monster creatures that cost too much mana to play in a regular game.  These will be perfect for new Type 4 players to include in their stacks, but most of them are just too far below the bar for more advanced T4 builds.  Oh well, maybe Malestrom Nexus will be more awesome than anticipated, maybe Sen triplets will actually deliver - we won't know until we actually start playing with these.

A couple more that might have some potential.

Quote
Grixis Sojourners
   1ubr
Creature - Zombie?   Common
When you cycle Grixis Sojourners or it's put into a graveyard from play, you may remove target card in a graveyard from the game.
Cycling 2{B}
   #112/145   4/3

A lot better than Cremate (if some still use that) and Rapid Decay. The creature can be reanimated and still has a decent body if you ever NEED to cast it.

The blue one that taps or Untaps with Cycling is cute, but with no body it's probably just a free Twiddle cantrip that doesn't take a spell, not impressive. The 3 other cyclers are crap.

Quote
Behemoth Sledge
   1gw
Artifact - Equipment   Uncommon
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has lifelink and trample.
Equip 3
Those who worship the great gargantuans could hardly be expected to fight with subtle weapons.
Illus. Steve Prescott   #65/145

Loxodon Warhammer has been awesome in the Stack, probably the best equipment (Dragon's Fang doesn't count). Does the same thing, but probably too much the same.

Quote
Predatory Advantage
   3rg
Enchantment   Rare
At the end of each opponent's turn, if that player didn't play a creature spell this turn, put a 2/2 green Lizard creature into play.

As said, enchantment are hard to remove and people don't cast creatures that often, this guy thing can pump 2-3 tokens per turn for a while.

Quote
Mage Slayer
   1rg
Artifact - Equipment   Uncommon
Whenever equipped creature attacks, it deals damage equal to its power to defending player.
Equip 3

For creature heavy stacks, double the damage of any attacking creature in direct damage. Still probably too weak though.

Breath seems like the worst card to put in the stack.  Deal 5 to each opponent?  Are you seriously going to piss off a table of players without killing them?  You'd be lucky to even untap the next turn.

Dude!  The full visual spoiler is up and Breath of Malfegor is an instant!  It's still political suicide and I'm not sure if I will include it in my stack, but it certainly just made my maybe pile.

Definitively playable now. Of course you don't try to cast it in the first 3-4 turns, but in late game when some player played their spells for the turn, it becomes a great finisher. Still like it a lot more than Searing Wind.

Heavy heavy discard is not one of my favorite in T4, far from that actually.

Allowing someone to destroy someone else's hand (and graveyard in this case) is quite the same than allowing him to draw 5+ cards. Not as broken, but quite.

Thus, I tend to ignore massive discard effects. I have to leave to attend my first Preview ever (in 15 years of magic !).

Wish me good luck Wink

Seems fine as an instant.  Not something to play early, but could be a good way to knock out a couple guys towards the end.  I'll be including this now.

Vengeful Rebirth
4RG
Sorcery
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand. If you return a nonland card to your hand this way, Vengeful Rebirth deals damage equal to that card's converted mana cost to target creature or player.
Remove Vengeful Rebirth from the game.

I like this one, because Regrowth is always decent, and with the high CMCs typical of Type 4, this is going to deal a decent amount of damage more often than not.

Just got back a gleemax the other day.  Good times.
