You may also have the bonus of playing AJ!
Wait Mike are you taking requests? I wanna play Nick Detwiler this saturday... lets make it happen! Well if you can find a way to bribe both Nick DiPasquale and DCI Reporter, you got it!! Of course the easier way would be for you to both go 5-0 and face off in round 6. Ill just get dipasquale a foil italian thirst for knowledge! Hey, is the lotus even real? sadly im only half kidding Wow, I never knew Nick was that easy, guess I'll have to use Barkon from now on, at least someone would have to come up with a page of Pirate Ships to get to him!! Yes the Lotus is good, no Ebay this time, I got it off Vinny Forino

I would have loved to make this event, but I had a huge job this week (7 straight days of working, including later today ;-; ) Either way, I'm glad to hear that Tez didn't win another event ^.^

Yeah, 48 people showed up, a tremendous turnout and the lotus is really beautiful. It's the first piece of power that I've won too.

48 people was nothing for this event. There should have been at least 60. The community voted on the event to happen in June. Everyone knew about this event for months but still couldnt find time to support Mike like he has been supporting the vintage community for at least the past 3 years that I have known him.

I was definitely expecting closer to 60... some of the regulars weren't able to play for various reasons (John, Mykie, Chas, Seth, etc). Also, the next time you guys declare a day to be "National Mishras Workshop Day" and have your party at AU, can you let the rest of us know in advance? Thanks.

Seriously, I think in all of my vintage tourny games I am like 10-2 vs workshops. Congrats though.

There were 3 5CStax decks in Philly, 1 Aggro Shop and 1 Worker/Staff deck. That's 5 sets of Shops out of 64 players. I didn't expect to see that many Shops running around either. The worst was definitely explaining to my opponent how the stack worked, how Tangle Wire didn't die when it had no counters, and how Smokestack didn't make me sack all while he blew me out in game three as my 280%+ chance (over 7 turns) of drawing colored mana wasn't good enough. Sigh. There's always August...

There were 3 5CStax decks in Philly, 1 Aggro Shop and 1 Worker/Staff deck. That's 5 sets of Shops out of 64 players. I didn't expect to see that many Shops running around either. Sigh. There's always August... Nick, I think you're missing a few Shops from Saturday. There were at least 3 Mono-red Aggro shop decks that I saw (there were two in top 8 right? There was also one in 9th), and at least 3 5C Stax players. Including Worker / Staff, that should be around 7/48, or 15%. That's not overwhelming or anything, but much higher than its been recently. Then again, at the Dan Herd event, Shop won the main event and split in the finals of the side event, so not entirely unexpected either.

Then again, at the Dan Herd event, Shop won the main event and split in the finals of the side event, so not entirely unexpected either. I should have been more clear. When I referred to Philly, I was referring to the Dan Herd Memorial Tournament. I refer to all Blue Bell tournaments as Blue Bell. My point was just that there was a massive increase in Shops on Saturday, and I can't say that I expected it. If you go back even further, to the Philadelphia Open II, I was the only player in the Top 8 running Shops (though there was a mono red hate deck that seemed like it should have been running them, along with some different cards). While there was 5CStax, to the best of my knowledge, everyone that was running 5CStax at Blue Bell, outside of Jon Richards, was on N.Y.S.E.. I don't think that my victory in Philadelphia spawned copycats, especially because I think that the guys that decided to play Shops almost all decided to play Aggro Shop, not 5C. Best of luck to them, as Aggro Shop is a strictly worse variant of the deck. The Blue Bell metagame has clearly shifted. I'm very interested to see what it's like in August - whether we see more Tezz, or whether Shops comprise 10% (or more) of the field again.

Nick, my fault, I misread what you wrote. I had to pay 2 extra colorless mana just to think, and then when I went to type, all my keys were tapped down.
Freaking shops.

That quote right there epitomizes why I truely love shop decks.

I heard there was a revolutionary 5c ad naus deck that took my opponents by storm, yet somehow left me in 17ish place....
I wish that part didn't actually happen... but it did

Pssh, you can find the 11th-place deck up on Starcity. What else do you really need? Actually I have been waiting for Mike to post his report as well.
