I don't expect this card to set the vintage world on fire.  It does seem like it has something in it though.  I can definitely see this having a a slot in some deck, I just can't see what deck it could possibly be.  It needs to be something that's in for the longer haul and unfortunately Wisescale Serpent doesn't really do anything to prevent your opponent advancing his plan.  But neither does the dryad, so there's definitely some potential here.

The correct name of the card is: Lorescale Coatl.

Man, Gush not only bounces lands, it bounces on and off the restricted list. It's like the DCI's very own superball.

I think this is strictly worse then Psychatog...Since you psychatog feeds off every card you've drawn even before the 'Tog lands, While this has to be in play before you start drawing...In fish deck you're not likely to go nuts with card-draw, and in control decks you most likely want to draw the cards before you land your finisher.

That is why this guy is better with reusable draw enablers like Top and Sylvan Library.

Tog is a one time pump while this guy keeps his +1/+1. This is relevant.

Tog comes in to play as a 1/2 while this guy is a 3/3.

Tog doesn't care about the nature of the cards he just eats everything turning every card into damage. And that is why Tog WAS playable and this guy will be harder to figure out. Another approach is needed. Sylvan library is not a bad card on its own. I used the card as a draw engine with children of korlis/Oath of ghouls to get a serious mid game advantage. It was slow but against the faster decks wich was tendrils you had the children to stall and other cards to disrupt. Anyway to stay on topic:

Lorescale Coatl has its own demands and with a proper design I think their is potential to make it work.

Wisescale Serpent is good enough for Vintage.
It's not broken, but good enough.

I wouldn't compare it to a specific card, but rather, to a specific relationship:
Quirion Dryad compares to Tendrils of Agony like Wisescale Serpent compares to Psychatog.
Dryad is good when you play it before you go off playing lots of 'stuff' in a turn but is not as good after you're done playing lots of 'stuff' in a turn.
Tendrils of Agony is good at any point if you're playing lots of 'stuff' in a turn.
Wisescale Serpent is good when you play it before you go off 'drawing lots of cards' but is not as good after you're done 'drawing lots of cards'.
Psychatog is good at any point if you're 'drawing lots of cards'.

In Vintage, I'd say that Wisescale Serpent is probably better than Tarmogoyf in blue-based decks.
Then again, Tarmogoyf has never really impressed me.

I second the 'Goyf statement.

I also think that Serpent should not be compared to anything. It is a new card with new possibilities.
