Thought it might be interesting to try a more aggressive spin on Remora + Coatl while still keeping some of the shell of a Tezzeret deck. This is what I came up with after a few modifications. This deck probably folds to dedicated mana denial strategies, especially those based around Wasteland, but I think it would be interesting to play in a Tezz-heavy field. I'm not running Sylvan Library, but I have included a few "draw 7s" along with Remora, Brainstorm, and Recall to "power up" a resolved Coatl. The basic idea is to drop a threat and then sit on Remora, which gives you the fuel to resolve another threat if that one fails to go the distance. Early Coatl is so good in a shell like this that I'm not sure we really need much "fuel".
The back-up plan is to dump out Empty tokens and do the same thing. In my experience the field is generally unprepared for a turn 1 or 2 empty for even 6 tokens now that Inkwell has replaced Colossus (and with it, removing most Echoing Truth from the field). Burning Wish is included because I couldn't decide between an answer to Inkwell, another Empty, or Wheel - this card does all three (SB to include Cruel Edict, Wheel of Fortune, Empty the Warrens, and Hull Breech).
My original list actually included the Tezz win cons of Tezz, Vault, Key, Tinker, and Inkwell but I ended up slashing all of them to give this deck a different feel. It is quite possible that -2 Empty / -1 Burning Wish / -1 Twister / -1 Windfall for that package of 5 cards results in a better deck, however unless one adds another draw engine (TFK, AK, etc) then this list will fall behind on cards to both Remora and Tezz, probably defeating the purpose.
This is basically a thought-exercise only at this point, so I have no testing to back up anything - hopefully that should occur over the holiday weekend. I may need one more land. Note that originally I had Kird Ape over Mox Monkey to further push the aggro theme, but Shaman just seems better to me. This deck is flat-out dead to Ichorid game 1 barring some kind of insane Empty + Time Talk nonsense. It also isn't as good against Storm as it lacks the Duress effects, however that deck is relatively dead in my local area.
