I would be interested in attending this event, although if someone could give me a ride from Manhattan or some stop on the New York subway, that would significantly increase my chances of attendance. I will contribute gas money.

If you can get to Valley Stream train station on that Saturday, around 11 or so, I'll drive you out there.  At the very least, on the way back I would be willing to drop you back off at Valley Stream for a LIRR train back to Penn.  If that's something you're interested in, lmk and I'll send you a PM with my phone number.

I will be there with 2-3 others, and I know a bunch of people at Grim last night were playtesting already.

Also I know this is with the new B+R list but I'm assuming M10 rules are in effect as well?

Both M10 rules and the new B&R list will be in effect for the event.

I guess I'm obligated to try and bring some folks from Philly then.  I know the date is open on my calendar.  I'll try and make this and I'll do what I can to drag along a car full of people...

Event sounds like fun is there an easy way to get to this location via public transportation or are we better of just driving?

@Jimmy - if you can't do a 20 minute drive for a Vintage tourney I'm going to play Doobie's T1 Cats deck at the next tournament I play, and tell everyone that this was your new tech for the environment.  Turn one Glittering Lynx?  Just scoop now...  Oh, and I think that your signature should be edited to "N.Y.S.E. - locking down Madoff till 2159".

@Gekoratel - the LIRR runs through to West Islip, at which point the N27 bus takes you, literally, in front of the store.  If you can make it close to the store, around 11am or so, I'd be willing to pick you up (this means the LIRR station).  I can fit four in my car in case you have anybody else.  If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll send you my phone number and information.  Driving is the easiest way to get there.

@Matt - I'd love to see you and some of the Philly guys there.  Us New Yorkers come down to Blue Bell roughly once a month, it'd be nice to see you guys on our turf for once.  Plus, there's the added bonus that, since I'm running the event, and likely judging it as well, I will not be playing my Shops.  So anybody who is loathe to play me need not worry.

@Josh - If I can get a regular attendance north of 25 people I'd gladly run the event monthly.  There's a cut of the entrance fees that's going to the store where we're running it, but I'm going to put almost everything else back in for prize support.  I'm not trying to make money on this, I am trying to create a Vintage community on Long Island.  It's funny - Long Islanders and the city guys go to tournaments all over the place, only learning that they're from the same area when they play.  We have at least 20-25 active Vintage players on the Island.  How many of them know one another is anyone's guess.  I hope to create one community out of the many disparate elements.  I'd love to see Folinus and AJ as well.  I'd look forward to just hanging out with everybody over the course of the day, instead of going over lines of play, play mistakes and whatever else.  Enjoying everyone's company is something I rarely get to do at these events.

I'm glad that there has been such a positive response already.  I hope to see all of you guys in a few weeks!

If this was directed to me I am not Josh haha. I am Steve, the one who constantly complains about never beating you and the rest of your New York Stax group. Anways, Folinus is Gekoratel, and we are looking foward to this, were just trying to find the best way to go about getting there. See you then!

For those NYCer's who are considering mass transit and are apprehensive to take a bus www.hopstop.com is a site I use which is generally helpful. Self explanatory how to use it.

For what it's worth I'm Josh. And monthly would be awesome. I'd definitely be willing to help out with that, at least till I leave for school again.

@Steve - My good man, of course I know who you are.  I wish that TMD members did have their names displayed somewhere, as it has been a guessing game for me (between names and handles).  There will be at least one other member of the Stax Exchange that everybody from Philly is going to get to meet for the first time.  My other guy is going to be at Nationals that weekend.

@Josh - I really appreciate it.  Right now I just need people to spread the word and get as many people as possible informed.  I've run tournaments on the Island before and they haven't been terribly successful.  Here's hoping that this one will be a break from the past.

I'm currently working on getting a dealer for the event.  I have a prospect who has an extensive Vintage collection with all the staples, and I hope to cement that by the end of the week.  If you're looking for Standard or Extended stuff the location where we'll be playing has a pretty good stock.  They have a fair amount of Vintage stuff as well.

Sorry Nick I probably won't be attending this one.

I hope you get a good showing from other Blue Bell regulars and get at least 20 people total. If this turns into a monthly event, I would definitely make the trip up there.

This is fairly interesting to me, especially since I've figured I can go play in the UK type 1 nationals only a couple of weeks afterwards, so perhaps Gekarotel will want to ride share.

Additionally, I may even have to be trying out a deck that isn't Affinity for a bit of a change.

@Simon - I have 5CStax, TPS and Tezzeret put together (with a Dredge deck hiding somewhere) if you want to borrow a deck for the event.

I look forward to hearing all about Hawaii.  Aaron's a madman, I'm sure you all had a great time...

@ Jostin - I look forward to seeing both you guys there.  We have to start getting all you city guys and all the other Island guys together for these events.  We have enough players where we could realistically run monthly events for power that were well attended.  I feel really good about this event - this could be the start of something great.

@A-1 - Sorry to hear you can't make it, but hopefully there's next month!

So, with a little more than two weeks away things are looking exceptionally good for this event.  I've spoken with some of the Suffolk guys, and I think I have most of the Nassau County crew coming down.  With Jostin, Ici, and hopefully a few other city guys, and the Jersey/Philly crew, I think we're going to be in great shape.

With 25 entrants the prize structure will be as such:

1st - Unlimited Mox Ruby
2nd - English Mana Drain
3rd - Force of Will
4th - Force of Will
5th-8th - 10 store credit

Our dealer for the event is confirmed!

The Samite Healer himself, Jeff Anand, will be on site to take care of all your Vintage needs, buying, selling and trading.  Jeff has one of the most extensive Vintage collections out there, so if you're looking for old staples, power, or oddities, he's your man!
