I have not yet verified with the owner of the tournament, so I am pushing the date of the next tournament back to 8/16/09.  That will be more than enough time to communicate with the store owner.  I dropped the ball on this one, as my phone is missing and all the store contact numbers  and emaiils were on that phone.  Please spread the word to anyone who doesn't check these forums often.  As soon at I contact the owner I will put up the info for 8/16/09 on these boards.

Thanks guys

Splendid!  This will be just the right amount of time before N.Y.S.E., Part II, and the next Blue Bell.

Thanks for picking it back up, Jostin!!

I'll be at this one, but it will be my last before I leave for St. Louis for school.

I would say I'm 50/50 on this one as to whether I'll make it or not.

Any chance we could bump the entry fee to $20? A $45 first place prize is pretty meh. Sad

I'm with Yare on this. As it is now even if I were to win I would barely break even on my train ride/entry fee.

As much as I was looking forward to another one of these happening soon, I guess it's OK to have one a while from now. Gives me some time to test out something new.

EDIT: This happens to be Gencon weekend, so I don't know if you're set on this date, but it might be a better idea to make it either earlier or after the date as more people would probably show up.

I haev a first turn Llanowar Elf. He casts Ancestral, a slightly stronger card from the same set.

I really don't think gencon is going to impact the attendance at this local event much, if at all. Even if we just get 8, that's still enough to just play around for the day.

Personally, the 16th is perfect as I leave for school on the 19th. I don't think Gencon will have much effect on attendance, seeing as how it's pretty far away and it's over by Sunday anyway.

...of course, we could just work on getting more people to show up.  I'm going to a local FNM this week specifically to scout locals who I know play Type I on the side.

I also feel that raising the entry to $20 dollars is counterproductive.  A fee that high doesn't justify the prize structure (seeing as how most Power Tournaments charge $20-25 to get in), and would discourage people who are on the fence from playing.

Jostin, please allow a couple more tournaments to see if we can increase attendance first.  If that is unsuccessful, then we should absoltutely increase the the entry fee.

I should be able to make this event as I will most likely be arriving back to NYC that Saturday. I'll add another regular to the list of players (as I did kinda get this idea started in the first place and would like to continue being a part of organizing it) and I look forward to meeting you Yare. If it looks like I won't be able to make it I'll contact Jostin ahead of time, but I think I'm a go for this. w00t!

See you all on the 16th!

I look forward to meeting you Yare.

Not sure why that is since I've been a thorn in your side regarding the details of these events since you started posting about them. Wink

I am grateful that these events exist now though. Smile

Do we have a location for the event? I know that I will not be able to make this event because of a prior work commitment, but it would be nice to know where this is taking place at so I can potential go to the next one (again, as long as work doesn't get in the way like it did for my Pittsburgh trip ;-;)

I assume the same as last time. $15 entry fee, with $5 going to the store and $10 going to the prize pool. Third and fourth will get their entry fees back while first and second will get whatever is left, with first getting more.

I think right now we're just going for establishing a scene. I personally don't really care all that much about prizes for small events like this, as long as we get to play.

Oh I agree 110%, i'm glad to just be able to play competitively without having to drive 1hr+ to get to the tournament, its just a train ride away.

I think that once this venue is more established we should try to get some of the N.Y.S.E guys to come play here more consistently and vice versa. Magic to the PEOPLE BABY!

Since there haven't been many posts in the new thread for this tournament, I thought I would go ahead and post this here in case some people missed it. Hope to see you guys tomorrow.
