In addition to the larger monthly Vintage tournaments held on the third Sunday of each month, Superstars is continuing its weekly "Thursday Night Vintage" tournaments.
The first tournament will be this Thursday (August 20, 2009) begining at 7:00 PM.
The cost of entry is $10. 100% or entry fees go back into the prize pool of store credit.
These weekly tournaments are a great way to help maintain the Vintage community as well as help you practice for the larger monthly tournaments. Tell your friends to come down to San Jose and play Vintage at Superstars every week!

A minor clarification regarding the Thursday night Vintage needs to be made. I was mistaken about the entrance fee. It is $10.

So is the tournament still on for the 20th of September? Who all can make it? With Eudemonia rearranging their calendar so as to not conflict with this tournament hopefully some of the people from the Eudemonia scene can make it to this tournament in its place. I think I will be able to make it to this one.

Hopefully I can make this one.
Would people prefer to move to a guaranteed prize of a piece of power (probably starting out with a Mox) rather than the current payout of credit based on entry fees?
Superstars will run a guaranteed Mox tournament, if that would garner better attendance, but if attendance falls very flat then it makes such a thing less likely in the future. What do people think about the prize structure?

I can't make this one due to work, or the next 3 Sundays. On prize struction, I prefer a Mox Tournament, (or a Time Vault tournament, or a Playset of Mana Drains Tournament, etc) to simply store credit. But I mostly just prefer whatever it takes to up attendence to 25+. I did the extra drive out to San Jose because there was no Eudemonia series happening. But my Sundays get taken up in 6 week chunks (I teach a 6 week Sunday course). With planning, I can get someone to fill in for one of those weeks, but I used up that option for Eudo 1 already)

I'm planning on going this Sunday to Superstars (I guess the Eudemonia event is cancelled?) and I might bring 1-2 people with me.

I'd like to let everyone know who hasn't heard yet that Superstars will be giving away an Unlimited Mox for first place at their tournaments held on the third Sunday of the month. I've updated the tournament info in the original post.

THis is wonderful news. I only have 2 more SAT Sundays to go! Hopefully a new SAT crew won't Ninja out of the blue.

Is there a tournament this Sunday, October the 18th? There is nothing on the Superstars website or on the calendar to indicate whether the tournament is happening or not . . .

I was at Superstars today, I am pretty sure it is happening. Web is the one who is putting up the announcements recently, but he is busy preparing for the PT.
I'll call Mashi and check again.

I called today (Saturday) to confirm that there is a Vintage tournament tomorrow Sunday October the 18th.
Odd that they didn't put it on their calendar.

Well, only 12 people turned out today, but we had a good time anyways. I'm pretty sure the low attendance was half due to the PT, and half due to the lack of publicity.
If these things could be announced officially and put on the store calendar in the future, that'd be great.

Brent at the counter said nobody ever updates the calendar. I said somebody should. He said he agrees. But it still doesn't sound like they will get around to doing such stuff unless LSV or Ochoa or other close to the store people push for it.
Congrats Potato on the win!
(He trounced me 4 games out of 6, winning the die roll both matches and going broken with the-hate.)

Every 3rd Sunday of the month is the plan, and Eudemonia will work around this schedule, but neither will update their own calendars.
