I'm working on building up a Hostility + Oath list for my unpowered meta. We've got one Tez deck, a stax deck, a solid golbins deck and then a bunch of random aggro / combo decks for who shows up regularly.

The list as it looks right now is :

4 Oath of Druids
2 Gaea's Blessing
3 Hostility
3 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Lotus Petal
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
3 Fire Blast
3 Flame Rift
2 Cave-in
2 Pyroclasm
4 Incinerate
2 Crop Rotation
4 Forbidden Orchard
4 Taiga
4 Wooded Foothills
5 Mountain
2 Forest
3 Karplusan Forest

This build can win in 1-3 turns after activating oath, which is just as fast or faster than other Oath builds. Additionally I can just burn people out.

I'm not sure what, if any, modifications I should try making to the main deck for an unpowered meta.

Lava spike and flame rift are both terrible cards, and incinerate, cave-in, pyroclasm are not very good either.  I understand you want to use hostility to go for the win, but without something more disruptive than 3-4 to-the-dome, oath (let alone hostility) will basically never stick.  Also, why would you want to pyroclasm to clear the board and shut off oath?  im a bit confused as to what this deck is trying to do????

you need forces or duresses in addition to red blasts.  if you really want to stay nonblue, then at least go with duresses (and tutors) from black.  After that you need an efficient artifact hate.  ancient grudge, rack n ruin are both good candidates.

i think for this to be any good you need to be able to fire off your graveyard after a big oath.  will/recoup is of course the best.  after that try lava dart with "free" flashback and maybe even one darkblast (since the current top draw engine is a 2/1)

just my thoughts.  hostility oath seems like a cool idea, just dont know how competitive it could be.  good luck.

Most decks are better with restricted cards.
Restrict: Drain, Workshop, Bazaar, Skullclamp.
Unrestrict: LoAlexandria, Manavault, Frantic Search, Burning Wish, FoFiction,TfK, Regrowth, 3sphere, DemConsultation.
Fix: Zodiac Dragon, Transmute Artifac

well an optimal hand would contain oath, a taiga and a lotus petal a fireblast, a flame rift a cave in and another red card.

Ideally you play oath turn one, oath up hostility turn two and draw a mountain. Cast cave in, kill of any x/2 , x/1 blockers, get 2 creature tokens, then flame rift and fire blast for 8 more tokens. Then you swing for 30.

The whole point of hostility is that spells wind up dealing 3x the damage. This is just a best possible draw to showcase what the plan is, it won't always end up like that. The deck is designed to win the turn you activate oath instead of one or two turns later, and failing that you can burn them out. Lava spike is bad , I just don't have Chain Lightnings currently. Flame Rift I wasn't sure of at first but playtesting shows that having 12 damage when hostility is out is very nice.

You only need to activate oath once to get hostility out, then throw some burn spells and you get creatures instead, which shuts of your own ability to use oath, but you should be winning that turn or the turn after if you don't have enough burn that same turn.

This is also for an unpowered metagame that only features one or two decks with counter magic in it.

Price of progress is a must have in this deck, but i agree with jaeppel, that you should at least run 4 duress in order to rid your opponent of any counters, or artifact hate.  actually, 3 thoughtseize and 2 duress is what I used to run, and i've played quite abit of Oath in my day

This seems strictly worse than Hellkite simply because Hostility gives you creatures. Then you Pyroclasm your own guys?

If you like the Burn/Oath route I would suggest Swans of Bryn Argoll as your creature, and use Chain of Plasma and Conflagrate to draw your deck/kill in one shot.

The point of Hostility is to only need to oath once, then use burn to make lots of dudes. The pyroclasm kills off the orchard tokens to push through more damage, you'd want to play it before using burn to make dudes for your team.

I actually like the concept of this deck.  It actually does make sense to me.  You flip hostility, and cast a board sweeper.  Right there you're looking 6 to the face from hasted hostility, that leaves 14 damage needed after that's onyl 5 damage from spells, for letal damage!  I would say, screw Gaea's blessing: You need Volcanic Spray!

Main Combo: 14-cards
4 Oath of Druids
2 Hostility

4 Sensie's Top
3 Crop Rotation
2 Fork
1 Wheel of Fortune
1 Regrowth

Sweepers: 8-cards
2 Cave In / Pyroclasm (if you find you don't have the red cards to pitch)
3 Firespout
3 Volcanic Spray

Pin point: 11-cards
4 Price of Progress
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Shrapnel Blast
1 Flaming Gambit

Mana Sources: 24
4 Forbidden Orchard
4 Wooded Foothills
1 Windswept Heath
3 Tiaga
3 Mountain
2 Forest
2 Great Furnace
4 Chrome Mox
1 Lotus Petal

=================================

So as I said before, the main plan is to in one turn:
1) Oath
2) Boardsweep
3) "Deal" 5 damage to your opponent
4) Swing for 21

A few things that got added:

~ Chrome Mox.  This will be a big boon when it comes to exicuting your plan early.
~ More artifacts, including Great Furnace (and crop rotate for great furnace) for...
~ Shrapnel Blast.  this gets the 5 done in one pop.  Swing for 15 anyone?
~ Fork.  This deck could definately benefit from fork on neumerous spells.  Its actually fairly easy to beat someone with Price of Progress forked!  Even without Hostility.

I think in a slow enough, "aggro" budget meta you could own face with something like this.

You might consider running something like Sneak Attack in the sideboard, and put the extra hostilitys or other big creatures in the sideboard.

Anyway good luck with it.

Why not splash Black for a YawgWill combo finish and Tutors?  Or does that weaken the deck too much?

Also, Lightning Surge seems strong in this deck, if a little expensive.
