(note, this is an edit of an older post because I apparently can't make new posts in this forum anymore.
Date[/U][/B] November 7th, 2009 (Saturday)
Host[/U][/B] Jupiter Games![/B] 3701 Vestal Parkway East Suite 7 Vestal, New York 13850 (607)729-5910
Format[/U][/B] -Vintage[/B] - Un-Sanctioned - 25$ Registration Fee - 15 Proxies Allowed - Opening 9am - Registration 10am - Start at 11am
Judges[/U][/B] Eli Kassis - Level 1 - Tournament Organizer Carl Winter[/B]& Ryan Green - Aspiring Level 1's
Prize Pool[/U][/B] If 1 person shows[/U] 1st - $200 Store Credit - $150 Cash Equivalant 2nd - $125 Store Credit - $ 100 Cash Equivalant 3rd/4th - $80 Store Credit - $60 Cash Equivalant If 24 or more people show[/U] 5th-8th - $50 Store Credit - $35 Cash Equivalant
-We will be very lenient with proxies so people can bring out their pimpy looking cards if they like. Artist altereds are almost always okay at these types of events since they are unsanctioned just make sure they aren't easy to cheat with. Double sleeving usually solves this problem and we carry the small sleeve's if people need them.
-I'm taking a leap here and guaranteeing this prize pool based on 1 person showing up. This hurt me good last time, but after a year I am willing to give it another shot. If this tournament is a success prizes will be upped in my usual fashion (Mox thrown in as per usual) and it will be scheduled vintage tournaments more regularly (once every 6 weeks to start).

I cant make this one(going to the blue bell PA, tournament), but I would be able to make an appearance at future events if they were scheduled further in advance and without conflicts. I live in Albany btw.

I'm pretty sure everyone remembers the last t1 tournament eli kassis was involved with. Nothing like holding a p9 tournament without actually owning the power.
It only took a few months but I think everyone got their piece in the mail.

To be fair, Eli had very little to do with that event - he was merely the vendor, and he wasn't a brick and mortar store back then. He and the rest of the guys that are now Jupiter Games have been running extremely successful events in the upstate NY area for years.

If I decide to play Magic this weekend, it will be in Blue Bell (it's closer), but I could potentially be interested in future events, presuming I could find a ride.

Yeah Vestal is a bit of a drive from NJ but if you guys were to have a Mox tourney or something of that scale that wasn't on the same date as a Blue Bell or Long Island tourney I would try to get a crew up to the event. We're already looking to make the trip for your next big Legacy event.

Me and a few of my friends are in the same boat. I was at your last Legacy event and I was really impressed with how it was ran. I REALLY loved the lunch break, as it let me recoup whatever sanity I had left from not sleeping for 3 days straight lol. On top of this, there is the TOGIT legacy event going on the same day for a Recall that you announced before the first round. There just seems to be too many complications for this event, but I still wish it the best of luck. Your a good TO ^.^

To all going to the Blue Bell or TOGIT events:
Given the short notice on this event, I'm sure the guys at Jupiter understand. I think the point of this event, more than getting 50 people - which would rule, but is extremely unlikely - is simply to start to rejuvenate the Vintage scene in Upstate NY. It's been years since anyone has even thought about the format up here, aside from a few trips to Connecticut for Ray's events. While the Legacy scene has always had a strong following, it's been a struggle to get any interest in Type 1. At the last Legacy event, there were some people asking about possible Vintage events, so Eli and Carl decided to give it a shot. Hopefully we'll get a few people to come out this weekend, to show that we're looking for more support, which would lead to more events. If that happens, we'd love to have you join us all, and maybe we can get Vintage on the map in NY - somewhere above the city, anyway.

I will not be able to attend this event because of a wedding. I have been to many of the Vestal legacy events and everytime gets better. The prize support is extremely well and worth the trip up

This is Eli, I want to set the record straight. I was the vendor for that event, I was asked to deal cards for Amrod at the last minute. I was given absolutely no details whatsoever. I showed up and set up cards. 5 rounds into the event he comes over and asks me to sell him a complete set of power. Keep in mind I was one of three independent vendors. He wanted to purchase the entire power 10 for $2,800. All the other vendors refused (Including me to be fair) but who would take that offer it was way less than they were worth. I had absolutely no part in the advertising, judging, or anything beyond vending for that event. Due to the large amount of complaints and people thinking I was involved, I did the whole community a favor and called up Amrod to accept his prior offer so that everyone could finally get their product (was willing to take his failure's on as my own for absolutely no reason other than to help the players because I could have sold the set for a lot more). In addition, he claimed he could only send me $2,300 first, but then the next week when a check cleared he would send me the last $500. He soon after disconnected his phone, moved, and closed down his business and refused to take a single one of my calls. I have not seen or heard from him since. Please set the record straight as this has been a popular belief up until now and this is the exact series of events that occurred. Most people think it was me because Amrod announced to his whole tournament that this was somehow "Eli's Fault". I am more than a little bitter over that day and I would probably like to do unpleasant things to that man if I ever saw him again.

Carl again: Just posting a new event in the interim until I can get TO status.
You should be all set, Carl. And in the future, I'm available via PM or the TO status thread in Open for things like this. -DA

So, this tourney is coming up fast. Who's coming? I hope there's a good turnout. I'd like to see these things happening routinely. Maybe some Syracuse Legacy guys can find a Sharpie and make the trip.
See you guys in a few days.

Not just a Sharpie, but an eraser and some markers! Also, some Power - after all, I did split first at the last Legacy he ran... We've got at least a few coming down. Hopefully we're not the only ones.
