Hi everyone, new guy here. I'm looking to improve my Vintage playing and looking for a better deck for my metagame. I used to play Slaver a lot, but stopped playing it regularly not long after they "fixed" Time Vault, and stopped altogether when TfK was restricted. Since then, I've tried many different decks, and all have failed. This is my latest attempt, a decklist not created by me, to eventually conquer my local meta.

Any constructive criticism will be welcomed. I'm looking to beat SCV, Ichorid, Tezz, and Oath. My shop allows 10-15 proxies, so budget is no matter.

I think you should go to four null rod, or at least put the fourth in the sideboard.  In the matches where you need it the most, there is no such thing as too many.  Vs. many archetypes out there rod is a virtual win-con, much like vault, which cant actually win the game, but gives you the time to get there.  Drawing multiple null rods is not over redundant.  Rod is the first thing to get countered/blown-up.  Having another in hand or multiples on the table just means that maybe one sticks long enough for tarmogoyf to turn sideways.

Life from the loam could make a good fit in here, with 6 fetch and 5 strip you are in a good position to take advantage of it.  it is a bit slow, but if the game goes into extra innings the card advantage and striplock can seal the deal.

Vexing shusher is something you might want to try out.  it seems like a good sideboard material for when you need extra oomph in the counter war.

good luck in bant

Most decks are better with restricted cards.
Restrict: Drain, Workshop, Bazaar, Skullclamp.
Unrestrict: LoAlexandria, Manavault, Frantic Search, Burning Wish, FoFiction,TfK, Regrowth, 3sphere, DemConsultation.
Fix: Zodiac Dragon, Transmute Artifac

I like the idea of Shusher. Can't believe I didn't think of it before. I'm thinking of taking Wheel of Sun and Moon out of the board for it, but then I feel I don't have enough Dredge hate.

Also, there are supposed to be 4 Cold-Eyed Selkies in there, too, I just forgot to put them in the OP. I've edited them in now.

What do you think could go for the fourth Null Rod?

Also, what are some simple boarding guidelines for a deck like this? I haven't played Vintage seriously in a while, so I hope I'm not asking too many stupid questions Smile

For sideboarding, it depends on your matchups. But for me, in my last tourney, I was taking out Tarmogoyf as he was sub-par. A Qasali Pridemage that is 4/4 or 5/5 or an exalted Selkie was enough.

I have been trying to get something in the spot of Goyf but it still has that second turn 4/5 body that its too good to pass up on.
